Wie in Fig. 1 zu sehen ist, weist das Sitzkissen 1 eine flache, im Querschnitt im wesentlichen rechteckige oder in einer Ausführungsform auch quadratische Form auf. Das Kissen ist im abgebildeten Zustand bereits mit einem Fluid befüllt, bevorzugt mit Luft. Das Maß der Befüllung kann frei gewählt werden und beeinflusst über die "Härte" der Sitzgelegenheit den Sitzkomfort und die Dynamik des Kissens. Zum einfachen Befüllen bzw. Während beim runden Sitzkissen keine Richtung bevorzugt ist, sorgt die eckige Ausführung für die Bevorzugung von Bewegungsachsen, die bei bestimmungsgemäßer Ausrichtung auf der Sitzgelegenheit von vorne nach hinten bzw. rechts nach links verlaufen. Möglicherweise ungünstige und schwerer zu stabilisierende schräge Verkippungen des Beckens und der unteren Wirbelsäule werden so reduziert oder vollständig vermieden.
