Nach dem Durchtritt durch das Proportionalventil 2 gelangt das Hydraulikmedium zum volumenstrom-gesteuerten Regelschieber 3, bestehend aus einer Konstantblende 3a, einer Verstellblende 3b sowie einem Antrieb 3c, bestehend aus einem federbelasteten Kolben, der in einem Zylinder zwei Arbeitsräume voneinander abdichtend trennt, welche wiederum über Zuleitungen 3d und 3e die Druckdifferenz vor und hinter der Konstantblende 3a abgreifen. In Abhängigkeit des vom Volumenstrom abhängigen Druckabfalls an der Konstantblende wird der Kolben des Antriebs 3c verstellt und damit die Durchtrittsöffnung der Verstellblende 3b verstellt. Mit steigendem Volumenstrom nimmt auch der Druckabfall zu, wodurch der Kolben entgegen der Federkraft nach links verstellt und somit die Durchtrittsöffnung der Verstellblende 3b verkleinert wird.
