- stairlifts are generally used to carry people with reduced mobility in order to negotiate differences in elevation of any kind, constituted by stairs, steps, ramps, bridges and so forth, and are provided by means of an apparatus which performs a translational motion along a predefined path.
- Stairlifts depending on the specific characteristics of use, can be of the platform or seat type and in any case must be preset so as to maintain the arrangement on the horizontal plane both of the platform and of any seat.
- This type of adjustment can be performed by manually entering the data in a memory on board the machine, with the drawback of having considerable problems which may lead to errors, such as incorrect measurement of the site, different installation conditions with respect to the design, changes in the path required by contingent factors, and therefore in many cases this type of storage is not correct and often must be repeated.
- patent EP 0738232 has already devised a stairlift which, in a certain sense, is capable of storing the data related to the path by means of a self-learning function, which is performed by storing the slope between the machine and the platform or seat in a discrete number of points of the rail, subsequently performing an interpolation of the data and storing the map accordingly.
- This solution while having the advantage of being able to acquire the data related to the path directly on the path itself, has the limitation that the storage of the data may cause incorrect operation, since during use minimal variations may occur between the real situation and the stored situation, with an inevitable accumulation of errors which may lead to seizure of the machine.
- the aim of the invention is to solve the problems described above by providing a stairlift with angular positioning means which allows to read on-site the actual configuration of the path and to learn both the data related to the length and the data related to the slope change regions, thus modifying traditional solutions which merely stored a certain number of data, which inevitably constituted an interpolation.
- an object of the invention is to provide a machine which allows to identify automatically and with extreme precision the regions of the path where an actual change of slope occurs, without having a system which in practice follows a stored data item.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a stairlift which, thanks to its particular constructive features, is capable of giving the greatest assurances of reliability and safety in use.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a stairlift with angular positioning means which can be obtained easily starting from commonly commercially available elements and materials and is also competitive from a merely economical standpoint.
- a stairlift with angular positioning means comprising a carriage which can move, by way of transfer motor means, along a rail which connects at least two points with variations in level along the path, a supporting structure being connected to said carriage by way of angular variation motor means with the possibility to rotate about a substantially horizontal axis, characterized in that it comprises an automatic balancing unit adapted to self-learn the parameters of the length of the path and of the portions of variation of inclination of the path in order to control the travel speed provided by said transfer motor means, said angular variation motor means being controlled by an angular variation sensor.
- the stairlift according to the invention comprises a carriage 1, which in a per se known manner is associated with a rail 2 which defines a path by connecting two distinct points with a path having level variations of any kind.
- the rail 2 is provided, in a per se known manner, by means of straight portions and slope variations which are combined variously and are rigidly connected to each other in space so as to define the intended path.
- the carriage 1 which is not described in detail, is constituted by a plurality of elements which rigidly couple the stairlift, which can be provided with a platform or a seat, so as to travel along the path defined by the rail 2.
- a supporting structure is connected to the carriage 1 and in the specific case is constituted by a seat 3 but obviously can be provided by a platform or any other element that is generally used.
- connection between the seat 3 and the carriage 1 occurs by means of a shaft 4 which is preferably but not necessarily substantially horizontal.
- transfer motor means designated by the reference numeral 10
- angular variation motor means 11 which act at the shaft 4 in order to vary the angular positioning of the seat 3 so as to keep it arranged on a horizontal plane regardless of the inclination assumed by the rail.
- the stairlift further comprises an automatic balancing unit 20, which is capable of self-learning the parameters of the length of the path and of the portions of variation of such path in order to control the travel speed provided by the transfer motor means.
- the balancing unit 20 comprises an angular variation sensor, which can be constituted by an inclinometer 21, functionally connected to an inclinometer management board 22, which after receiving the signal from the inclinometer drives the motor means 11.
- the stairlift is made to travel along the rail from one end to the other, and during this first ride the inclinometer 21 records every minimal variation in the slope of the structure 3 with respect to the vertical and in practice detects the angle ⁇ that is formed with respect to the vertical.
- the automatic balancing unit reacts instantaneously and, by acting on the motor 11, compensates and eliminates any variation of ⁇ .
- the machine management board 23 measures the length of the rail by means of the signal that arrives from the encoder on board the transfer motor 10.
- the inclinometer management board 22 transmits the signal to the board 23, so that the initial and final positions of the slope variation portion are recorded in the memory of the board 23.
- the portions where a slope variation occurs are stored, and in said portions it is possible to vary the translational speed of the stairlift, while different speeds can be used in the horizontal portions or in any case in portions which have a constant slope.
- the system in practice has mapped the entire path and most of all has determined the portions where the balancing system must intervene.
- the portions P0-P1, P2-P3 and P4 and P5 are substantially portions in which there is no slope variation, while the slope variation occurs exclusively in the portions P1-P2 and P3-P4.
- the machine stores these portions, and in order to ensure greater safety and comfort for the user it slows its speed every time it approaches a slope variation region.
- the system senses constantly the value of the angle ⁇ , and when such angle exceeds a preset threshold value it stops, preventing the machine from advancing along the path and preventing tipping of the passenger.
- the system further provides additional safety, which arises from the fact that if there is no signal from the inclination sensor, it stops the machine immediately.
- the inclination sensor constituted by an inclinometer 21, remains always active and in each instance sends suitable pulses to the angular positioning motor 11, so as to always maintain the horizontal position of the structure 3 regardless of the angle ⁇ formed between the vertical and the normal with respect to the longitudinal direction of the rail 2.
- the materials used, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions may be any according to requirements.
