Abstract

A convertible garment, that comprises a hat (1), preferably with a visor (11), which extends in the side and rear area into a thin sheet (2) of considerable length widening on both sides and which can be arranged in a deployed position forming a garment by way of a cape or jacket, intended for completely or partially covering the user's body, or in a folded up position in which it is duly folded and/or rolled up inside the bowl of the hat (1).

Description

    Object of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a convertible garment comprising a hat intended for being placed on the head.
  • Background of the Invention
  • Currently there is a wide variety of garments which fulfill specific purposes besides covering part of our body. One of these garments is raincoats, which are very useful in the case of rain.
  • Given that at certain times of the year the weather can change greatly, there are raincoats, known colloquially as "windbreakers", which can be folded so as to introduce them in one of the pockets of the garment itself, further having elastic bands with a closure forming a type of belt for fastening to the waist.
  • These raincoats have a single function, and when they are folded their transport is not particularly comfortable because in addition to the pressure of the elastic bands on the body, they form a lump or projection that can interfere with other accessories such as bags or backpacks.
  • Description of the Invention
  • The convertible garment of this invention has technical particularities allowing comfortable use and transport, being adapted to any climatic situation and providing a double function.
  • The convertible garment comprises a hat, preferably with a visor, which is suitable for protecting the user's head from both the sun and the rain.
  • Said hat extends in the rear and side areas into a thin sheet of considerable length which widens on both sides so as to form a suitable garment for completely or partially covering the user's body by way of a cape or raincoat in the event of rain for example.
  • This sheet can have adjustment means in its front area for tightening the cape or garment to the contour of the face, thereby providing very ample protection, including the head and ears, and/or closure means for fixing the front ends of the sheet, preventing it from opening during use due to the effect of the wind.
  • This sheet can be of any material, either textile or not, and preferably waterproof, providing considerable protection against rain. The cape extending from the hat can be used as protection from the sun, the rain, the wind or for discretely changing clothes at the beach.
  • This sheet can be easily folded up into the hat, longitudinally folding the widened sides of the sheet until it is a narrow band that is rolled up towards the upper area until reaching the lower edge of the hat, the roll formed being folded up into the inner contour of the inner space or bowl of the hat.
  • As adjustment means for the garment, it has been provided that the sheet comprises cords arranged inside hems or passages made in an upper area of the front part of the sheet. These cords projecting from the front end of the hem can be tied under the user's chin, adjusting the upper portion of the sheet to the contour of the face.
  • The front closure means, which are responsible for fixing the two front ends of the sheet in the closing position, can be made up of contact closures, snap-on closures or closures of any other type.
  • The sheet can take on several possible configurations and lengths, with or without sleeves and optionally with front openings for extracting the hands.
  • Description of the Drawings
  • A set of drawings has been attached to this specification to complement the description being made and for the purpose of aiding understanding of the features of the invention, which show the following with an illustrative and non-limiting character:
    • Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a user with the convertible garment in the extended position, simultaneously forming a cape and hat, the sheet in this case having adjustment means for its tightening to the contour of the face.
    • Figure 2 shows a view of the garment which includes arrows indicating the folding direction of the sheet prior to being rolled up towards the upper area.
    • Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the garment with the sheet folded and partially rolled up towards the folded position.
    • Figure 4 shows a lower plan view of the convertible garment forming a hat, the sheet being rolled up and folded up inside the hat, forming a roll.
    • Figure 5 shows a perspective view of the retracted garment during its use as only a hat.
    Preferred Embodiment of the Invention
  • As can be observed in the mentioned figures, the convertible garment comprises a hat (1) with a visor (11), which extends in the side and rear areas into a thin sheet (2) of flexible material of considerable length, widening on both sides so as to completely or partially cover the user's body, the hat (1) further having an elastic band (12) in its inner contour for the fastening of said rolled up sheet (2) forming a roll inside the bowl of the hat.
  • In this embodiment, the sheet (2) is of a thin and flexible waterproof textile material, having adjustment means for adjusting it to the face in its upper front area. Said means are represented by cords (21) housed in hems (22) defined on the edge of each one of the widened sides of said sheet (2), surrounding the area corresponding to the user's face, both cords (21) being susceptible of being tied together under the user's chin, both side edges for the sheet (2) being tightened to the contour of the face.
  • The sheet (2) of the garment has openings (23) on its front part for the passage of the user's hand and part of their arm, thus allowing said user to have their hands protected or being able to extract them without opening the garment, keeping the body protected.
  • The front ends of the sheet (2) can also optionally have complementary closure means.
  • Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention as well as a preferred embodiment thereof, it is hereby stated for all intents and purposes that the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the described elements can be modified provided that his does not entail an alteration of the essential features of the invention claimed below.
