Abstract
A film (1) of extensible plastic material to provide transpiring packages which is provided with through holes (3) distributed uniformly on its surface and is reinforced with longitudinal strips (2) also of extensible plastic material which are couple to said film also at the pierced portions of the latter.
Description
EXTENSIBLE PIERCED PLASTIC FILM REINFORCED IN PULLING DIRECTION
The present invention relates to packing, and particularly packing of the transpiring type. More particularly, a pierced film of extensible plastic material is disclosed which is reinforced by suitable longitudinal strips also of extensible plastic material.
Pierced films reinforced to the longitudinal direction are presently available on the market, however, the reinforcement strips are coupled to the film only at those portions of the film without holes. This causes the holes to be arranged geometrically aligned in the longitudinal direction and to preserve suitable longitudinal portions of the film without holes to be coupled to the reinforcement strips.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to overcome such restriction by providing a film which is provided with through holes distributed uniformly on its surface and is reinforced with longitudinal strips.
According to the invention this has been accomplished by providing an extensible, reinforced film of plastic material which is pierced uniformly all over its surface and is reinforced by longitudinal strips of extensible plastic material which are coupled to the
pierced film at the portions of the latter that can also be provided with holes.
A better understanding of the finding will follow from the following detailed description with reference to the accompanying drawings that show a preferred embodiment only by way of example. In the drawings :
Figure 1 is a top view of a portion of an uniformly pierced film reinforced with longitudinal strips;
Figure 2, similar to Figure 1, is a top view of the same portion of film with pierced reinforcement strips.
With reference to figure 1, the preferred embodiment disclosed provides a film 1 which is uniformly pierced with through holes 3 and reinforced by suitable longitudinal strips 2 preferably disposed equidistant from one another.
In a variation of the finding able to increase the film transpiration surface, reinforcement strips 2 coupled to film 1 are also pierced at through holes 3 of the film in the portions covered by the strips.
It is self evident that in this case the holes of reinforcement strips 2 have a lesser size than the width of the strips and are located inside the latter so as not to cause the same to tear during the stretching of the film upon packing.
According to the finding it is also provided that the edges of reinforcement strips 2 are beaded. At last, it is also possible that extensible film 1 and/or extensible reinforcement strips 2 are completely or partially stretched.
The present invention has been described and illustrated according to a preferred embodiment and a variation thereof, however, it should be understood that anyone skilled in the art can make equivalent modifications and/or replacements without departing from the scope of the present industrial invention.
Claims
1. A film (1) of extensible plastic material to provide transpiring packages, characterized in that it is provided with through holes (3) distributed uniformly on its surface and is reinforced with longitudinal strips (2) also of extensible plastic material which are coupled to said film also at the pierced portions of the latter.
2. The film (1) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that strips (2) are provided with through holes corresponding to through holes (3) of the film.
3. The film (1) according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said through holes of strips (2) have a lesser size than the width of strips (2) and are located inside the latter.
4. The film (1) according to any preceding claim, characterized in that reinforcement strips (2) are parallel and equidistant from one another.
5. The film (1) according to any preceding claim, characterized in that reinforcement strips (2) have beaded edges.
6. The film (1) according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the film is completely or partially stretched.
7. The film (1) according to any preceding claim, characterized in that reinforcement strips (2) are completely or partially stretched.
8. An packing film (1) of extensible plastic material uniformly pierced all over its surface and reinforced by longitudinal strips (2) as essentially described and illustrated in the present description and the accompanying drawings.
