Subsequently, the fiber strand is cooled to a temperature which is below the melting temperature of the sheath of the multicomponent fibers. As a result, a cross-linking of the multiple-component fibers is made possible with each other, which allows a firm connection of the multiple-component fibers with each other. It is also provided according to
It is an object of the present invention to provide a filter which has a homogeneous structure and is easy to manufacture. It is another object of the invention to provide a corresponding filter that is inexpensive.
This object is achieved by a filter for articles of the tobacco processing industry, in particular for cigarettes, comprising at least a first and a second filter component, wherein the first filter component comprises polyethylene fibers and the second filter component comprises a granulate. Preferably, the granules have a filtering action and / or release a flavor.
It has surprisingly been found that polyethylene fibers can also be used as binder fibers which, when heated in the vicinity of the melting point of the polyethylene for Do not coincide for a short time in drops, but create a connection with the other filter components, so that a stable composite of the filter components is achieved.
Preferably, the granules comprise a powder and / or spheres. In the context of the invention, the term granules also includes the terms grains, aggregates of powder particles, crushed / granular or powdery material and pellets. The granules may have an asymmetric or a symmetrical shape. It is particularly preferred if the second filter component comprises activated carbon, ion exchange resin and / or aluminum oxide. The second filter component may comprise, for example, sugars, charcoal from lignite and hard coal or coke, charcoal from charred plants or plant parts such as woods or nutshells and / or furthermore silicon oxides, zeolites, hopcalites, said ion exchange resins, preferably having functional groups, marble, limestone , Expanded clay, organophilically modified expanded clay and phyllosilicates, as well as aerated concrete, silica gel and titanium oxide.
A particularly stable composite in the filter is given when the components of the granules or the granules or granules and / or the balls have a diameter of 0.3 mm to 0.8 mm.
A particularly good filter function is ensured if the length of the polyethylene fibers is smaller than the length of the filter. Preferably, the length of the polyethylene fibers is between 0.5 mm and 30 mm, in particular between 2 mm and 8 mm and in particular preferably between 3 mm and 6 mm. Preferably, the length of the polyethylene fibers before the heat treatment is longer than after the heat treatment.
Preferably, the polyethylene fibers have high density polyethylene inside the fibers and low density polyethylene outdoors.
Dieses Material hat eine Dichte von ca. 0,94 g/cm3 bis 0,965 g/cm3.By providing such polyethylene fibers, the stability of the produced filter can be significantly increased. For example, HDPE of high density polyethylene can be used inside the fiber. This material has a density of about 0.94 g / cm 3 to 0.965 g / cm 3 .
The outer region may be made of LDPE of low density polyethylene having a density of about 0.915 g / cm 3 to 0.935 g / cm 3 may be LLDPE or linear low density polyethylene.
The fiber shape can be round for this type of fiber.
In einer anderen Ausgestaltung der Erfindung sind die Polyethylenfasern Fasern einer Sorte Polyethylen, beispielsweise LDPE-Fasern, HDPE-Fasern, LLDPE-Fasern oder beispielsweise auch HMW-LDPE (HMW von High Molecular Weight) sowie UHMW-HDPE (UHMW von Ultra High Molecular Weight). In another embodiment of the invention, the polyethylene fibers are fibers of a variety of polyethylene, for example LDPE fibers, HDPE fibers, LLDPE fibers or, for example, also HMW-LDPE (HMW from High Molecular Weight) and UHMW-HDPE (UHMW from Ultra High Molecular Weight ).
In this case, it is preferable if the degree of crystallinity of the polyethylene fibers is in the narrowest possible range. The fibrous form is preferably round or trilobal in these fibers.
Beispielsweise können als Bindefasern LDPE-Fasern und als Vlies bildende Fasern HDPE-Fasern Verwendung findenAs preferably provided at least one further third filter component may be provided non-woven fibers such as natural fibers or plastic fibers. Natural fibers may be cellulose, cotton, flax, hemp and sheep's wool fibers cut in their natural length or to a certain length. As synthetic fibers come acetate fibers, PE fibers with a higher density than the binding fibers of polyethylene, polypropylene fibers, lyocell fibers, polylactic acid (PLA) or polylactide glycolic acid (PLGA) fibers in different cutting lengths from 1 mm to 24 mm and in various specific Fiber weights from 0.7 dtex to 72 dtex in question. In the case of non-woven fibers made of polyethylene, it is preferable to use those whose melting point is above the temperature which is used for melting the binding fibers of polyethylene. For example, can be used as bonding fibers LDPE fibers and non-woven fibers HDPE fibers
%, insbesondere 70 Gew. % bis 90 Gew. %, ist.A particularly preferred filter is given when the proportion of granules on the filter 35 wt.% To 95 wt.%, In particular 70 wt.% To 90 wt.%, Is.
%.It was easily possible to produce filters with a granulate content of 12 to 15 mg / mm filter and a fiber content of 1.5 to 2.5 mg / mm filter. The specification applies to filters with a diameter of 6 to 11 mm, in particular 7.8 mm (kingsize format). As a preferred embodiment, filters were prepared with 90% carbon granules and 10% polyethylene fibers, 80% carbon granules with 20% polyethylene fibers, 70% activated carbon granules with 30% polyethylene fibers and 60% activated carbon granules and 40% polyethylene fibers. This is% by weight.
To the activated carbon granules further granules or balls and to the polyethylene fibers also other fibers can be added. It is also possible to produce filters with PE fibers and only balls.
Preferably, the polyethylene fibers are binder fibers and each other and connected to the granules. However, it is not necessarily the case that each binding fiber is also connected to another binding fiber. In fact, it can be the case that a binding fiber is connected to a plurality of granules or granulate parts and further binding fibers are connected to the granules again. In the context of the invention, the term "bonded" is understood in particular to be adhesively bonded and adherent. Here, a chemical compound prevail or a mechanical connection, for example by a positive force fit or a positive connection.
Preferably, after melting, the PE fibers are again solidified fibers which bind the granules in the vicinity when the fibers are melted.
- Mixing the first filter component with the second filter component,
- Forming a filter strand from the mixture,
- Heating the filter strand to at least approximately the melting temperature of the first filter component,
- Cooling the filter strand and
- Cutting the filter strand into a filter.
The heating of the filter strand is preferably done on a Temperature above the melting temperature of the first filter component, for example, so short that this filter component is not completely melted through. However, it is also possible to allow the polyethylene fibers to be completely melted by heat treatment of the produced filter strand and to allow the polyethylene material to be combined with the granule constituents on the filter to form connections between the individual granules, whereby it is even possible for the Fiber is deformed. The polyethylene fibers preferably melt or at least soften.
By using polyethylene fibers as the binding medium, it is possible to load them with a maximum amount of granules and similar materials or substances.
Preferably, the mixing occurs before and / or during the molding of the filter strand.

For the production of the filter, reference is made in particular to the applicant's
The mixing of the filter materials may preferably be done before the final singulation of the filter materials or a part thereof. However, the mixing process can also be done shortly before introduction into a fluidized bed.
Alternatively, it is possible to manufacture a filter strand and the filters on an applicant's AF / AC / KDF machine. With this known machine filters are made of infinitely long fibers, for example made of polyethylene, wherein granules, such as activated carbon granules introduced in the module AC in the fibers be done so that a corresponding mixing occurs. A corresponding AF / KDF machine is known from EP 0 919 144 B1, which is to be included in full in the disclosure of this patent application. The AF / AC / KDF machine is then designed such that the granule feed device is arranged between the KDF part and the AF part. For example, further filter materials can also be added, as shown in FIG. 2 of the applicant's DE 103 52 152.6. There, further filter materials are introduced into an endless fiber strand or endless fiber tow. In accordance with the present invention, instead of the cellulose ester fibers from which the fiber tow according to DE 103 52 152.6 is formed, polyethylene fibers are then added, for example.
The polyethylene fibers are preferably those of the type TWR04805-1 crimped with 33 crimps / 10 cm, 6.7 dtex or 8.25 dtex, 5 mm length, the company FiberVisions. Preferably, the binder fibers have a substantially equal length. The melting point is 162 ° C. It is also possible to use polyethylene fibers of the type Polysteen Cut, uncrimped, 4.5 dtex, 5 mm long, melting point 132 ° C., from Polysteen.
The filter shown in Fig. 1 was prepared, for example, according to a method which is shown in
