Definitions
- the present invention concerns the technical sector relating to the production of systems and devices able to monitor possible escapes of gas and take action to prevent gas leak in the case of natural disasters or accidents.
- this system allows to monitor the entire gas main, including the valves connected to the gas plant and to the various electrical appliances, permitting the closure of one or more valves in the case any accident might involve a gas leak.
- Background Art Technicians of this field know several devices that permit to watch over a place where methane gas is used and that give the alarm with sound or visual signals in the case of a gas leak. Nevertheless, said systems have the relevant drawback to be unable to act on the gas leak, as they only signal the escape, therefore the aid of an operator is always necessary to stop this leak.
- This invention aims at eliminating the above-mentioned and other drawbacks, supplying a system for the control of methane gas leaks able to monitor the entire main and act on any valve, so as to close or open it according to the situation.
- This system aims at solving the technical problem concerning the manufacturing of a device able to control the entire gas plant, not only the one relative to a single appliance, and at the same time directly act on it.
- This system aims at constantly watching over the gas plant, including the iron or copper mains inside the walls.
- This system works by means of an electric circuit, like PLC or similar, connected to a series of sensors, connected in their turn to the various electrical appliances fuelled with methane.
- the electric circuit is also connected to: the C02 and methane gas sensors, the sensor controlling the pressure on line, a vibration device registering the presence of earthquake tremors, the valve sending the gas to the cooker and the general valve permitting the passage of gas on the entire main.
- the general valve when we're not using the cooker or any other electrical appliance fuelled with gas, the general valve is closed. In this situation, the system checks the entire gas plant, from the simple joints to the most hidden and embedded pipes both inside and outside the house until the meter. If a gas leak occurs, the system automatically closes the general valve and at the same time emits a sound and visual signal, so as to alert to what's happening. Since that moment, in order to restart the system we need to reset everything by means of a suitable button. If a earthquake tremor occurs, the system automatically closes the general valve, placed directly after the meter, starting at the same time a check on the plant to verify if damages have been caused: if not, a bright led will advise that it's possible to use the electrical appliances again.
- a system for the control of a gas plant comprises an electric circuit (1) connected to the sensors registering the presence of gas (3) and/or C02 (4), to a vibration device (11) registering the presence of earthquake tremors, to the sensors (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 9, 10) signalling the opening and closure of the valves of the electrical appliances fuelled with gas, to a pressure sensor (5) signalling possible leaks of gas, and to the devices closing and opening the general valve (6) and the cooker valve (7), suitably manufactured and/or programmed so as to command the opening and closure of the valves of the electrical appliances and/or the gas valve (6 and/or 7) according to the danger situation that might occur.
- the gas valves (6, 7) are electric or however able to open and close following an electric signal received by the same system.
- the system is connected to a power unit supplying the energy necessary for its functioning.
- the system is connected to the electric current plant, but is also provided with batteries permitting to automatically power the system whenever the electrical energy is missing.
- this system is part of a gas cooker comprising the control electric circuit and also the vibration device and the sensors relative to the knobs opening and closing the gas.
- the electric circuit can consist of a simple PLC.
- the circuit (1) is manufactured and/or programmed so that it automatically closes only the cooker valve, when the sensors (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) signal the closure of the relative cooker valves, leaving the general valve open.
- the circuit (1) is manufactured and/or programmed so that it automatically closes both the general valve and the cooker one, when the sensors (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 9, 10) signal the closure of the relative valves they are connected to. This function permits to always let the two valves closed when the gas is not used, so as to guarantee the highest safety of the plant.
- the circuit (1) is manufactured and/or programmed so that it automatically opens the valve (6), when the sensors (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 9, 10) signal the opening of at least one valve they are connected to. If the signal comes from the sensor 9 or 10, it keeps the cooker valve (7) closed, as the cooker is still unused. Vice versa, if the signal comes from a sensor connected to the cooker, the system opens also the valve (7) .
- the circuit (1) is manufactured and/or programmed so as to activate the check of the pressure on line by means of the pressure sensor (5), which emits a sound and/or visual signal every time the pressure has a different value compared with the prefixed one.
- the system prevents the use of any electrical appliance fuelled with gas.
- the system registers an earthquake tremor by means of the vibration device (11) and/or a gas leak by means of the sensor (3) and/or a C02 leak by means of the sensor (4), it automatically closes both the general valve (6) and the cooker one (7) until the alarm situation ends.
- the system carries out a general check on the gas main by means of the pressure sensor and permits the opening of the valves only if the plant is actually in good condition. Otherwise, it signals the bad condition of the plant with a sound and/or visual signal and permits the opening of the valves only after the reset of the system .
- Fig. 1 shows the scheme depicting the functioning of this system.
- the system comprises an electric circuit (1) or PLC, connected to a series of sensors controlling the opening or closure of the valves of the cooker (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) , of the boiler (9) and of the water heater (10).
- the electric circuit is also connected to: the C02 (4) and methane gas (3) sensors, the sensor controlling the pressure on line (5), a vibration device (11) registering the presence of earthquake tremors, the valve sending the gas to the cooker (7) and the general valve (6) permitting the passage of gas on the entire mam.
- the entire system is then connected to a 220V/24V or other voltage power unit (2).
