Abstract
L'invention concerne un moteur combustion interne, à injection directe d'essence et à allumage commandé, comprenant au moins un cylindre (1), une culasse (6) obturant le cylindre (1), un piston (7) monté coulissant dans le cylindre (1), une chambre de combustion (2) définie entre le piston (7) et la culasse (6), un moyen d'injection (3) d'essence dans la chambre de combustion (2), un moyen d'allumage (4) destiné à produire une inflammation du mélange air-essence dans la chambre de combustion (2), des soupapes d'admission (8) et d'échappement (9), obturant sélectivement la chambre de combustion (2) et des moyens de recirculation d'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement dans la chambre (2) de combustion pendant la phase d'admission d'air, caractérisé en ce que la pression fournie au moyen d'injection (3) dépasse 250 bars, de façon à homogénéiser le mélange air-essence-gaz d'échappement recirculés et à augmenter la vitesse de combustion.
Description
Moteur à combustion interne, à injection directe d' essence et à allumage commandé
L'invention se rapporte à un moteur à combustion interne, à injection directe d'essence et à allumage commandé.
L'invention concerne plus particulièrement un moteur à combustion interne, à injection directe d'essence et à allumage commandé, comprenant au moins un cylindre, une culasse obturant le cylindre, un piston monté coulissant dans le cylindre, une chambre de combustion définie entre le piston et la culasse, un moyen d'injection d'essence dans la chambre de combustion, un moyen d'allumage destiné à produire une inflammation du mélange air-essence dans la chambre de combustion, des soupapes d'admission et d'échappement, obturant sélectivement la chambre de combustion et des moyens de recirculation d'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement dans la chambre de combustion pendant la phase d'admission d'air.
Différents modes de fonctionnement liés à la stratégie d'injection sont envisageables grâce à l'injection directe d'essence.
L'une des solutions connue, est l'introduction de carburant dans les proportions stcechiométriques , de façon à ce que la totalité du carburant soit brûlée au contact de l'air. Selon cette solution, le carburant est introduit suffisamment tôt pendant la phase d'admission du cycle moteur pour assurer une bonne évaporation et une bonne homogénéité de la charge.
Dans ce mode de fonctionnement, il est intéressant d'introduire dans la chambre de combustion, au moment de l'admission, des gaz brûlés issus de l'échappement (aussi appelés gaz recirculés) . Ces gaz ne participent pas à la combustion mais permettent de diminuer la densité du mélange combustible (essence-air) et donc de réduire les pertes d'énergie lors du cycle moteur.
Toutefois, la réintroduction des gaz brûlés présente des inconvénients : le mélange air- essence-gaz recirculés n'est pas homogène et la vitesse de combustion est réduite. Ces deux effets ont pour conséquence une dégradation du rendement de combustion. La quantité maximale de gaz brûlés qu'il est possible d'introduire pour gagner en consommation est donc limitée.
Un but de la présente invention est de pallier tout ou partie des inconvénients de l'art antérieur relevés ci-dessus.
A cette fin, le moteur à combustion interne, à injection directe d'essence et à allumage commandé selon l'invention, par ailleurs conforme à la définition générique qu'en donne le préambule ci-dessus, est essentiellement caractérisé en ce que la pression fournie au moyen d'injection dépasse 250 bars, de façon à homogénéiser le mélange air-essence-gaz d' échappement recirculés et à augmenter la vitesse de combustion.
Par ailleurs, l'invention peut comporter l'une ou plusieurs des caractéristiques suivantes :
- les gaz d'échappement réintroduits dans la chambre de combustion représentent un taux résiduel supérieur à 20%, et de préférence compris entre 40 et 60%,
- au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement recirculés est réintroduite dans la chambre de combustion par voie dite « externe » (EGR) , c'est à dire par le biais d'une conduite de dérivation,
- au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement recirculés est réintroduite dans la chambre de combustion par voie dite « interne » (IGR), c'est à dire par un pilotage approprié des soupapes d'admission et d'échappement. - le moyen d'injection d'essence et le moyen d'allumage sont séparés d'une distance comprise entre 5 et 30 millimètres.
- le moyen d'injection et le moyen d'allumage sont disposés dans la culasse selon deux axes respectifs formant un angle supérieur à 35°.

Le moteur selon l'invention représenté à la figure 1 comprend au moins un cylindre 1, une culasse 6 obturant le cylindre 1 et un piston 7 monté coulissant dans le cylindre 1. Une chambre de combustion 2 est définie entre le piston 7 et la culasse 6.
Le moteur comprend également un moyen d'injection 3 d'essence, tel qu'une buse ou un injecteur qui débouche dans la chambre de combustion 2. L' injecteur 3 est alimenté par une pompe 13 d'injection destinée à fournir à l' injecteur 3 de l'essence sous pression. Un moyen d'allumage 4, tel qu'une bougie plonge également dans la chambre de combustion 2 pour produire une inflammation du mélange air-essence dans la chambre de combustion 2 à un instant déterminé .
Selon une caractéristique de l'invention, la pression de l'essence fournie à l' injecteur 3 dépasse 250 bars. L' injecteur 3 peut être disposé, par exemple, sur l'axe Z de symétrie du cylindre 1, telle que le montre la figure 1. La bougie peut être disposée à une distance comprise entre 5 et 30 millimètres de l'injecteur 3. Selon cet arrangement, l'injecteur 3 est disposé, dans la culasse 6, selon un axe X et la bougie 4 est disposée selon un axe Y. L'angle θ, entre l'axe X de l'injecteur 3, et l'axe Y de la bougie 4, est inférieur à 35°.
D'autres arrangements, non représentés, de l'injecteur 3 et de la bougie 4 peuvent être envisagés. Par exemple, l'angle θ, entre l'axe X de l'injecteur 3, et l'axe Y de la bougie 4, est supérieur à 35°, et de préférence égal à 60° environ. L'injecteur 3 et la bougie 4 peuvent être notamment disposés de part et d'autre de l'axe Z de symétrie du cylindre 1.
Le moteur comporte également une ou plusieurs soupapes d'admission 8 et une ou plusieurs soupapes d'échappement 9 obturant sélectivement des passages entre la chambre de combustion 2 et, respectivement, un conduit d'admission 10 et un conduit d'échappement 11. Le moteur est de plus caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte des moyens de recirculation d'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement.
Lors de l'injection d'essence à haute pression selon l'invention, on constate une forte turbulence dans la chambre de combustion 2, bien supérieure à celle des installations traditionnelles . Cette turbulence permet d'augmenter le plissement du front de flamme et donc la surface de flamme en contact avec le mélange combustible.
La forte turbulence, générée par la pression d'essence élevée, permet des vitesses de combustion plus élevées pour un taux de gaz brûlés donné. Ainsi, une combustion de qualité acceptable pourra être obtenue pour des taux de gaz recirculés élevés. Le taux résiduel de gaz d'échappement réintroduits dans la chambre de combustion 2 pourra être supérieur à 20% et selon un mode de réalisation privilégié compris entre 40 et 60%.
D'autre part, la haute pression délivrée permet d'injecter une grande quantité de carburant grâce à la bonne atomisation obtenue. Cette caractéristique permet aussi d'obtenir rapidement un mélange air frais-gaz brûlés- essence très homogène.
Le moteur selon l'invention présente l'avantage de réduire la consommation de carburant grâce à la recirculation plus importante des gaz d'échappement.
Deux moyens connus de recirculation des gaz brûlés peuvent être envisagés : soit par la voie dite « externe » (EGR) , telle que représentée à la figure 2, soit par la voie dite « interne » (IGR) .
Selon la configuration par la voie dite « externe », les gaz brûlés peuvent être prélevés selon deux modes.
En variante, les gaz brûlés peuvent être prélevés au niveau des conduits d'échappement
11. Les gaz sont ensuite réintroduits en amont du collecteur d'admission 16 via une conduite de dérivation 14.
Les gaz brûlés peuvent être prélevés par la voie d'un conduit interne 15 au niveau de la culasse 6. Les gaz sont ensuite réintroduits en amont du collecteur d'admission 16.
Dans les deux cas, la quantité de gaz d'échappement introduite est contrôlée par une vanne 12 de régulation pilotée par un calculateur moteur (ECU), non représenté. Les gaz brûlés se mélangent à l'air frais. Ce mélange est introduit dans la chambre de combustion 2 pendant la phase d'admission.
Selon la configuration par la voie dite « interne », les gaz brûlés peuvent être introduits par le pilotage approprié des soupapes d'admission 8 et d'échappement 9. De façon connue, lorsqu'un cycle de combustion est achevé, les soupapes d'échappement 9 s'ouvrent afin de libérer les gaz brûlés. Afin de récupérer une partie de des gaz brûlés, les soupapes d'admission 8 s'ouvrent pendant la phase d'échappement des gaz. A ce moment là, la pression dans le conduit d'échappement 11 est nettement supérieure à la pression observée dans le conduit d'admission 10.
Cette différence de pression entraîne une aspiration des gaz brûlés dans le conduit d'admission 10 pendant la phase correspondant à l'ouverture commune des soupapes d'admission 8 et d'échappement 9. L'ouverture de la soupape d'admission 8 se poursuit après la fermeture de la soupape d'échappement 9. Lors de cette période, les gaz brûlés aspirés dans le conduit d'admission 10, sont réintroduits dans la chambre de combustion 2.
Le pilotage de la quantité de gaz brûlés réintroduits est obtenu par le contrôle de l'ouverture de la soupape d'admission 8. L'utilisation des systèmes de déphasage d'arbre à cames permet, par exemple, d'emprisonner dans le moteur de grande quantité de gaz brûlés (jusqu'à 80% en masse) .
De préférence, l'injection d'essence est faite, de façon préférentielle, pendant un laps de temps très court, le plus proche possible de l'instant d'allumage. L'injection d'essence pourra notamment se faire pendant la phase de compression du cycle moteur. Ainsi, la forte
turbulence générée par le jet d'essence sera conservée et amplifiée lors du début de la combustion. L'utilisation d'une pression d'injection supérieure à 250 bars assure une bonne homogénéité du mélange malgré l'instant tardif d'injection.
La performance du moteur, en pleine charge, pourra aussi être améliorée en adaptant le forme des conduits d'admission 10. Il n'est plus nécessaire que l'aérodynamique soit générée par les conduits d'admission, on pourra donc optimiser leur dessin pour assurer un meilleur remplissage du moteur en forte charge.
Claims
1. Moteur combustion interne, inj ection directe d'essence et allumage commandé, comprenant au moins un cylindre (1), une culasse
(6) obturant le cylindre (1), un piston (7) monté coulissant dans le cylindre (1), une chambre de combustion (2) définie entre le piston (7) et la culasse (6), un moyen d'injection (3) d'essence dans la chambre de combustion (2), un moyen d'allumage (4) destiné à produire une inflammation du mélange air- essence dans la chambre de combustion (2), des soupapes d'admission (8) et d'échappement (9), obturant sélectivement la chambre de combustion (2) et des moyens de recirculation d'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement dans la chambre (2) de combustion pendant la phase d'admission d'air, caractérisé en ce que la pression fournie au moyen d'injection (3) dépasse 250 bars, de façon à homogénéiser le mélange air-essence-gaz d'échappement recirculés et à augmenter la vitesse 'de combustion.
2. Moteur selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les gaz d'échappement réintroduits dans la chambre (2) de combustion représentent un taux résiduel supérieur à 20%, et de préférence compris entre 40 et 60%.
3. Moteur selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce qu'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement recirculés est réintroduite dans la chambre de combustion (2) par voie dite « externe » (EGR) , c'est à dire par le biais d'une conduite de dérivation (14, 15) .
4. Moteur selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce qu'au moins une partie des gaz d'échappement recirculés est réintroduite dans la chambre de combustion (2) par voie dite « interne » (IGR) , c'est à dire par un pilotage approprié des soupapes d'admission (8) et d'échappement (9) .
5. Moteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce que le moyen d'injection (3) d'essence et le moyen d'allumage (4) sont séparés d'une distance comprise entre 5 et 30 millimètres.
6. Moteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce que le moyen d'injection (3) et le moyen d'allumage (4) sont disposés dans ' la culasse selon deux axes respectifs formant un angle (θ) supérieur à 35°.
7. Moteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 6, caractérisé en ce que les moyens d'injection (3) injectent l'essence pendant la phase de compression du cycle moteur.
8. Moteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 6, caractérisé en ce que les moyens d'injection (3) injectent l'essence pendant la phase d'admission du cycle moteur. 1/2
