Description

The present invention relates to a collapsible metal container, in particular for transporting a material sensitive to creep, for example synthetic rubber packaged in bales, as well as a method of filling the box and a method of transferring goods contained in such crate towards a wooden crate.

Une telle caisse est décrit dans le document US-4735330 .Its object is a box according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a box is described in document US 4735330 .

Folding aluminum crates are known having a base portion of generally rectangular shape, resting on four feet, and removable panels hinged to this base portion.

The two large panels have, throughout their length in the lower part, an extruded profile arranged to fit, when the body is mounted, in a corresponding extruded profile of the base portion. Large panels can be removed as soon as they are folded in or out of the box.

The small panels of these aluminum boxes are connected to the base part by means of pins engaged in circular orifices of the vertical corner posts of the base part. To dismantle the small panels, it is necessary, with the aid of adapted tools, to remove the pins and such disassembly operation is reserved essentially for the repair of the body.

Also known collapsible steel crates also having a base portion of generally rectangular shape, resting on four feet, and panels articulated on this base portion. The legs are protruding so as to cap an underlying crate when two crates are stacked, and thus lock the panels of the underlying crate. The four panels are removable but are relatively difficult, being connected to the base portion with the help of pins, which has the aforementioned drawbacks.

These known boxes further comprise, on each of the sides of the base part, a plurality of retaining cleats against which the panels can come into abutment, particularly when the pressure of the goods inside the box is large, which is the case when it consists of synthetic rubber bullets. The lower crosspieces of the four panels each comprise a section of substantially circular section, partially open towards the outside, so as to provide a space in which the tabs can engage when the panels are folded outwardly of the body .

There is a need to benefit from an improved and relatively inexpensive foldable metal crate, which stacking is easy to perform.

There is also a need to benefit from a collapsible metal case to make the best use of available space in sea containers.

There is also a need to benefit from a collapsible metal case for simple and quick disassembly of the panels when using the body.

There is still a need to benefit from a collapsible metallic case for multiple use, and to allow the best use of the interior volume of a collapsible metal case when it is loaded.

The invention aims to meet all or part of the aforementioned needs.

The collapsible metal box according to the invention comprises a base portion of generally rectangular shape comprising four vertical uprights, and four panels articulated on the base part, including two small panels and two large panels, each panel having two lateral uprights vertical, at least one of the panels being removable, and preferably all the panels being.

According to one aspect of the invention, at least one lateral upright and preferably each of them comprises a first male hinge member engaged in a corresponding opening of the corresponding corner upright. In a variant, at least one corner post, and preferably each corner post, comprises a first male articulation element and the lateral post corresponding to the associated opening.

The box may be characterized in that the aforementioned opening has a shape for separating the relevant panel from the base portion, by a relative movement at least substantially vertically between the lateral upright and the corner post.

The invention makes it possible to easily assemble and disassemble, especially without specific tools, the various panels of the box during use thereof, which can be advantageous especially for the loading and unloading of goods, for example .

Throughout, the terms "vertical / horizontal, upper / lower, top / bottom, top / bottom, outer / inner" and other terms of reference must be read in relation to an observer in front of the cashier place on a flat horizontal surface.

By "collapsible crate" is meant a crate which can be folded panels inward or outward of the crate.

The articulation of the panels on the base part can be effected in multiple ways, the aforementioned opening (s) which receive the corresponding male articulation element (s) and make it possible to separate the panels of the base part which can be made on the corner uprights of the base part, or alternatively on the panels themselves.

In an exemplary embodiment, at least one opening may be constituted by a vertical slot opening at the upper end of a corner post, this slot being able to be made in particular on one side of the corner post which faces to a large panel. At least one opening may also be constituted by a vertical slot opening at the lower end of a side jamb of a panel.

Still in an exemplary implementation, at least one opening may lead to one side of an angle post that is adjacent to the side facing the hinge member. This may be the case for example when the opening is intended to accommodate the hinge element of a small panel. Alternatively, at least one opening may open onto one side of the side jamb of the panel which is adjacent to the side facing the first hinge member, the latter being carried by a corner post of the base portion.

When the first hinge member is on a panel, the latter may comprise a second male hinge element located opposite the first hinge member and engaged in an opening, preferably substantially circular, of the corner post corresponding.

Alternatively, but always in the case where the first hinge member is on the panel, the latter may comprise, opposite the first hinge member, an opening, preferably circular, and the corresponding angle post may comprise a second male hinge element engaged in this opening.

When the first male hinge member is formed on the corner post, the panel may comprise a second male hinge member engaged in an associated, preferably circular, aperture of a corresponding corner post. Alternatively, but still in the case where the first male hinge member is formed on the corner post, the removable panel may comprise, opposite the first element articulation, a circular opening, and the corresponding corner post may comprise a second male joint member, engaged in the circular opening.

The box can be made of steel, at least in part.

The base portion may comprise, on at least one side between two corner posts, at least one retaining latch of a corresponding panel.

The latter may comprise a lower cross member comprising a first section, open downwards, and at least one opening on the outer flange of the section to receive the cleat when the panel is folded outwardly.

The bottom rail of a panel, in particular a small panel, may comprise an axis, in particular a solid axis, extending at least partially between the flanges of the first profile, for example over the entire width of the panel. This axis can fit with the soul of the profile sufficient space to allow the cleat to engage.

The bottom rail of a panel, including a small panel, may further comprise a second reinforcing section, superimposed on the first.

In the case where a panel, in particular a small panel, comprises the first male articulation element, it may consist of an end of the aforementioned axis.

The maximum thickness of the small panels may be smaller than that of the large panels. The small panels may have, for example, a maximum thickness of about 20 mm, and large panels a maximum thickness of about 30 mm.

The base portion preferably rests on at least four legs which may each have a lower base, the lower end of each corner post of the base portion being above the base of the corresponding foot.

The large panels may comprise, in the upper part, pins and at least one corner upright of the base portion may comprise in the lower part at least one receiving opening of a pin. This opening can also be arranged to receive the corner post of an underlying crate when two crates are stacked in the folded state.

The receiving aperture of a pin may be formed downward and partly at least laterally inwardly.

At least one peg may have a generally tapered upward shape, in particular semi-pyramidal shape.

The box may include at least one locking system of at least one hinged panel with an adjacent panel.

The invention further relates, in another of its aspects, a method of transporting synthetic rubber bales, which can be characterized by the fact that we use a box as defined above.

The invention also relates, independently or in combination with the foregoing, to a method of filling a metal crate comprising panels, with balls of a material sensitive to creep, in particular synthetic rubber balls, this method which may comprise the step of filling the body by constituting a stack of bales whose last layer protrudes from the upper edge of the panels while being sufficiently engaged in the body so that during creep, the latter layer is housed in it -Even substantially in the interior volume of the box.

Another object of the invention is, according to another of its aspects, a box intended to receive bullets of a material sensitive to creep, in particular synthetic rubber bullets, these bullets being stacked in successive layers in the crate until a final layer, the body being characterized by the fact that it comprises panels whose height is chosen so that the last layer protrudes from the upper edge of the panels while being sufficiently engaged in the box so that during the creep, the last layer is lodged of itself substantially in the interior volume of the body.

The box can be arranged to receive for example thirty-six balls of synthetic rubber of standard size, arranged on six layers.

The dimensions of a rubber ball may for example be as follows.

The length of a bale can range from about 680 mm to about 710 mm inclusive.

The width of a bale can be between about 340 and about 355 mm, this width being for example substantially equal to half the length.

The height of a bale can range from about 160 mm to about 200 mm.

The invention further relates, independently or in combination with the foregoing, to a method of transferring goods contained in a metal crate to a wooden crate, wherein the metal crate used comprises four removable panels hinged to a base portion this method may comprise the following steps:
  • the metal box being filled, remove the four panels,
  • cover the merchandise resting on the base part of the metal crate by a wooden case arranged upside down,
  • return to 180 ° the metallic base part capped by the wooden case,
  • remove the metal base part.

The invention further relates, independently or in combination with the foregoing, to a foldable metal case having a base portion of generally rectangular shape having four corner posts, and four panels hinged to the base portion, two of which are small. panels and two large panels. The base portion comprises, on at least one side between two corner posts, at least one retaining latch of a corresponding panel, in particular a small panel, which itself has a horizontal bottom rail.

The box, according to this aspect of the invention, can be characterized in that the bottom rail has a first section open downwards and at least one opening on the outer wing of the profile.

This opening can receive the cleat when the panel is folded outward.

The lower crossbar may comprise an axis, in particular a solid axis, extending at least partially between the flanges of the first profile, for example over the entire width of the panel.

The lower rail may further comprise a second reinforcing section, superimposed on the first.

We have shown figure 1 an example of a collapsible body 1 of steel, in the assembled state, comprising a base portion 2 of generally rectangular shape, resting on four feet 3, only three of which are visible on the figure 1 and four panels 4 articulated on the base portion 2 around horizontal geometric axes of rotation.

The base portion 2 has four sides 8 and four corners 9. The large panels 4 also bear the reference 4a and the small panels the reference 4b. Likewise, of the four sides 8 of the base part 2, the long sides bear the reference 8a and the short sides the reference 8b.

The body 1 could still be substantially cubic and have four panels of similar widths without departing from the scope of the present invention.

The base portion 2 comprises, at its corners 9, corner posts 5 constituted in the example illustrated by sections of substantially rectangular section, hollow and vertical.

The corner posts 5 are connected on the sides 8 of the base part by horizontal crosspieces 6.

The panels 4 each comprise a metal frame, made of steel in the example in question, comprising lateral vertical uprights 10 and lower horizontal crosspieces 12 and upper 11. The metal frame further comprises vertical reinforcements 13 which connect the sleepers 11 and 12. Galvanized steel plates 14 are fixed to the metal frame.

The uprights 10, the crosspieces 11 and 12 and the reinforcements 13 consist of galvanized steel metal sections, in the example illustrated.

The articulated panels 4 can fold inward or outward of the body. The geometric axes of hinge panels are at different heights, so as to fold the panels on each other when the box is folded.

In the example shown, the panels are removable relative to the base portion 2.

Locking systems 17 are provided to keep the panels 4 together and vertical when the body is mounted. Each locking system 17 may for example comprise a latch 17a carried by a panel and engageable in a part 17b fixed on the adjacent lateral upright of the adjacent panel.

Each side upright 10 of a large panel 4a is capped with a pin 20. This is for example engaged lower in the profile constituting the lateral amount 10 considered.

In the illustrated example, each side jamb 10 of a large panel 4 extends, when the panel is in a vertical position, mounted on the base portion 2, in the extension of the underlying corner post 5.

The pins 20 could also alternatively cover the small panels 4b without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Un deuxième pion non représenté peut être fixé sur l'extrémité supérieure d'au moins un montant d'angle 5 de la partie de base 2.A second not shown pin may be attached to the upper end of at least one corner post 5 of the base portion 2.

This second pin may in particular be arranged to engage in an opening of the lower end of a lateral upright of a panel when the panel is mounted, and to engage in an opening of the lower end of the panel. an angle post 5 of an overlying body when two folded cases are stacked.

The base portion 2 further comprises a plurality of retaining cleats 21, disposed on at least one side 8 of the base portion 2 and preferably on each side, these lugs 21 are arranged so that the panels 4 can come in support against them, especially when the pressure of the goods inside the box is important. In the illustrated example, the base portion 2 comprises three cleats 21 on its long sides 8a and two cleats 21 on its short sides 8b. If necessary, the number of cleats 21 could be reduced, for example to a single cleat 21 per side.

As can be seen on the Figures 3 and 4 a corner post 5 of the base part 2 is provided with an opening 30, constituted in the example in question by a slot opening at the upper end of the corner post 5. This opening 30 is arranged to cooperate with a first male articulation member 31 of the lower cross member 12 of the large panel 4a, shown in FIG. figure 5 , constituted in the example illustrated by a cylindrical protuberance, and slidable vertically in the opening 30 to be detached from the corner post 5.

As illustrated on the figure 6 , the corner post 5 corresponding to the other end of the long side 8a and cooperating with the same large panel 4a comprises a second male articulation element 32, substantially identical to the first and constituted in the example illustrated by a cylindrical protuberance .

This protrusion 32 is arranged to cooperate with a circular opening 33 of the lower cross member 12 of the large panel 4a, shown in FIG. figure 7 .

The shape and dimensions of the protuberance 32 are chosen so as to allow the large panel 4a to be completely disconnected from the base part 2, the release of the second hinge member 32 from the circular opening 33 becoming possible. once the first hinge member 31 has been extracted from the opening 30.

La traverse inférieure 12 du grand panneau 4a illustrée à la figure 7 comporte un profilé de section sensiblement circulaire, ouvert au moins partiellement vers l'extérieur en 35.The lower cross member 12 of the large panel 4a illustrated in FIG. figure 7 has a section of substantially circular section, open at least partially outwardly at 35.

The lower cross member 12 of the large panel 4a can bear against the cleat 21 of the base portion 2, as shown in FIG. figure 8 when the large panel 4a is vertical.

The opening 35 formed in the cross member 12 to receive the tabs 21 when the large panel 4a is folded outwardly, so that the tabs 21 do not prevent each large panel 4a to pivot outwards.

La figure 12 représente uniquement une partie du petit panneau 4b.We have shown on Figures 9 to 12 the arrangement of a small panel 4b on the base part 2. On the figure 9 , the small panel 4b is folded outward, while on the figure 10 it is folded towards the inside of the box and, on the figure 11 , the small panel 4b has been dismantled. The figure 12 represents only a part of the small panel 4b.

The short side 8b of the base portion 2 has a corner post 5 provided, in the illustrated example, with an opening 40 extending on two adjacent sides of the corner post 5.

As can be seen on the figure 10 a first articulation element 41 disposed at one end of the lower cross member 12 of the small panel 4b is engaged in the opening 40.

The latter comprises a vertical part 40a extending on the side of the corner post 5 directed towards the small panel, and a horizontal part 40b extending the upper end of the vertical part on the front side of the corner post 5. The first articulation member 41 can, once brought up the vertical portion 40a of the opening 40, be moved through the horizontal portion 40b to be detached from the corner post 5.

On ne sort pas du cadre de la présente invention lorsque la partie horizontale 40b est réalisée sur le côté arrière adjacent du montant d'angle 5.It is not beyond the scope of the present invention when the horizontal portion 40b is formed on the adjacent rear side of the corner post 5.

On the other corner post 5 of the short side 8b of the base part 2, a circular opening 43 is made, being arranged to receive a second male articulation element 44 of the small panel 4b, disposed at the other end of the lower cross member 12 and shown at figure 12 .

The second articulation element 44 and the corresponding circular aperture 43 are arranged in such a way that when the articulation element 41 is disengaged from the opening 40, the second articulation element 44 can be detached from the circular opening 43, so as to completely disassemble the small panel 4b.

It is not beyond the scope of the present invention if the circular opening 43 is formed in the lower cross member 12 of the short side 4b and if a second hinge member 44 is then formed on the corresponding corner post 5.

The illustrated case features large panels having a maximum thickness e of approximately 30 mm, while the small panels 4b have a maximum thickness e b of about 20 mm, as illustrated in figure 13 .

As mentioned above, the large panels 4a are capped on their uprights 10 with a pin 20 of semi-pyramidal shape, as shown in FIG. figure 13 . It is not beyond the scope of the present invention if the shape of the pin 20 is different, for example frustoconical or other.

Each pin 20 is engaged and fixed, in the example considered, in the vertical upright 10 of a large panel 4a, consisting of a hollow profile.

The small panels 4b, as illustrated on the figure 14 may abut against lugs 21 arranged on the short sides 8a of the base portion 2, these lugs 21 being two in number in the example.

The lower cross member 12 of the small panels 4b comprises, in the illustrated example, as can be seen at figures 14 and 15 , an axis 50, the latter being for example cylindrical and solid. The axis is engaged in a first section 51, open downwards, itself surmounted by a second profile 52 of reinforcement.

The axis 50 may extend over the entire length of the lower cross member 12 and form at its two ends the two articulation elements intended to engage respectively in the openings 40 and 43.

The cleats 21 are arranged such that the small panel 4b can bear against them in vertical position.

These openings 53 are two in number in the example in question and their location corresponds to that of the cleats 21.

Thus, each small panel 4b can bear against the corresponding stops 21 by its axis 50.

Furthermore, the openings 53 allow to provide a space 54 between the axis 50 and the upper wing of the section 51. This space 54 can accommodate the cleats 21 when the small panel 4b is folded outwardly.

On ne sort pas du cadre de la présente invention si le profilé de renfort 52 est omis, ainsi qu'illustré sur la figure 16.It is not beyond the scope of the present invention if the reinforcing section 52 is omitted, as illustrated in FIG. figure 16 .

The openings 53 extend over the entire height of the profile in the example illustrated, but it is not beyond the scope of the present invention if they extend only over a portion of this height.

Un socle 62, généralement triangulaire, relie les côtés 60 et 61.A foot 3 has been represented on the figure 17 in view from below. It comprises two substantially perpendicular sides 60 and 61. A base 62, generally triangular, connects the sides 60 and 61.

La hauteur du pied 3 est par exemple d'environ 95 mm.The height of the foot 3 is for example about 95 mm.

The base 62 has at least one opening 63, two in the illustrated example, allowing a liquid to flow, especially during the galvanizing step of the steel constituting the body.

The corner post 5 has an opening 64 in its lower part, this opening 64 being formed downwards and also laterally inwards, in the illustrated example.

The amount of angle 5 is set back from the base 62, which avoids it to rest on the ground and also allows some locking of an underlying body when two boxes in the folded state are stacked, the upper end of an amount of angle 5 of the underlying body to be positioned in the withdrawal.

In the example, the sides 60 and 61 of the foot 3 have been cut obliquely on their edge adjacent to the corner post 5, so as to facilitate the stacking of the boxes.

The pins 20 can engage in the openings 64 of the corner posts 5 when stacking two boxes and thus lock the panels of an underlying crate in the assembled state.

The different parts of a box can be welded together or be connected by other means, such as rivets or pins for example. Some welds are apparent in the figures; certain circular openings, made in particular profiles, are also.

On the figure 18 , there is shown a variant embodiment of the body of the figure 1 , further comprising an element 70 connecting the feet 3 under each large panel 4a. The element 70 comprises a sole 71 and spacers 72, two in number in the example, connecting the sole 71 to the cross member 6 of the base portion 2.

The Figures 19 and 20 represent two stacked crates, respectively unfolded and folded.

In an exemplary implementation of the invention among others, but preferred, the dimensions of the box are chosen so that one can stack nine boxes in the folded state or two boxes in the unfolded state in a shipping container, standard dimensions, and that two boxes can stand abreast in this container.

The width at the internal available space of a sea container is of the order of 2.33 m. The vertical dimension of a box is advantageously chosen so that the height of two superimposed boxes is slightly less than that of the space available to the passage of the doors of a sea container, this height being between 2.20 m and 2.30 m.

It is not beyond the scope of the present invention if at least one of the openings 30 and 40 is made not on a corner post 5 but on a lateral amount 10 of a panel, and if the element of Corresponding male articulation is performed on the corresponding corner post 5.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described, and it is possible in particular to modify the relative dimensions of the panels and the base part.

However, it is advantageous for the height of the panels to be chosen so as to allow the following filling method to be implemented, which will be described with reference to the Figures 21 to 24 .

In the box are placed the rubber balls B in successive layers, for example six layers.

The rubber balls B can for example be positioned in alternating layers respectively according to the figure 21 and according to the figure 22 . Thus, the lowest layer will comprise for example six balls positioned according to the figure 21 ; the next layer will have six balls arranged according to the figure 22 , and the layer still above will have balls again positioned according to the figure 21 , and so on until, for example, the sixth layer, the highest.

This positioning is possible because the length of a bale, for example between 680 mm and 710 mm, is substantially equal to twice its width, for example between 340 mm and 355 mm.

The height of the panels 4 is chosen so that the sixth layer protrudes upwardly from the upper edge of the panels 4, as can be seen in FIG. figure 23 .

However, during the creep of the rubber, the balls B are packed and the height of the stack decreases, to the point that it comes substantially at the upper edges of the panels 4, as shown in FIG. figure 24 .

Such a method makes it possible to increase the quantity of bales contained in a box.

At the step shown in figure 23 , the upper layer protrudes from the upper edge of the panels by a height which is for example between about 1/4 and about 8/9 of the initial thickness of a rubber ball. For example, when the height of a bale is 190 mm, the height of overtaking with respect to the upper edge of the box can be loading, of the order of 160 mm, the useful height of the box being 980 mm and the balls being arranged in six superimposed layers.

The invention also makes it possible to implement a method for transferring goods, in particular rubber balls B, a metal box comprising four removable panels and a base part, for example a box 1 according to the invention, as illustrated. , towards a wooden crate C.

This transfer method comprises the following steps illustrated on the Figures 25 to 29 .

The balls B are initially arranged inside the metal box 1, as shown in FIG. figure 25 .

The panels 4 of this box are first dismounted at the step illustrated on the figure 26 . There remains only the base part 2 of the body 1, which supports the balls B.

The balls B are capped with a wooden box C arranged upside down in the next step, shown in FIG. figure 27 .

Then we turn the assembly 180 ° rotation, as illustrated on the figure 28 , so that the wooden box C is on the floor and the base part covers the balls B.

In a last step illustrated in the figure 29 the base part 2 is removed so that the balls B are loaded into the wooden box C.

Throughout the description, including the claims, the phrase "having one" should be understood as being synonymous with the phrase "having at least one", unless the contrary is specified.
