Claims (6)

  1. Transfer needle (1, 1') for a knitting machine, the transfer needle (1, 1') having a transfer spring (3, 3'), said transfer spring (3, 3') being mounted so as to be displaceable from its home position into its transfer position and back into the home position again, and means (20) being provided for diverting the transfer spring (3, 3'), during displacement from its home position into its transfer position, to form a free space (A) between the transfer needle (1, 1') and the transfer spring (3, 3'), characterised in that the transfer spring (3, 3') is guided within at least one groove (17, 17', 18), running longitudinally relative to the transfer needle (1, 1'), in the needle shank (11), said needle shank (11) being provided with a groove (17) at least along a longitudinal side, which groove is so formed, in terms of its depth and height, that it forms the guidance and gliding surface for the transfer spring (3).
  2. Transfer needle according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the diversion means are formed by a bevel (20) behind the needle breast (15) of the transfer needle (1, 1'), which bevel pushes a tab (32) of the transfer spring (3, 3') away from the needle shank (11) during the displacement of the transfer spring (3, 3') from its home position to its transfer position.
