Claims (16)

  1. Ironing board (1; 10; 20; 30) comprising a board (2; 12; 22; 32) that can, if desired, be driven in rotation about an axis, said board being mounted on a fixed base (4), characterised in that the fixed base (4) is disposed directly beneath said board (2; 12; 22; 32) such that it can be directly used by positioning it on a receiving surface such as a kitchen or dining room table, on trestles and other like supports such as conventional legs, said board having an essentially circular shape having moreover at least one substantially angular portion (3; 11; 24; 33).
  2. Ironing board according to claim 1, characterised in that the board has a diameter of about 1 m.
  3. Ironing board according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the board is movable and drivable in rotation about a central axis of the fixed base.
  4. Ironing board according to claim 3, characterised in that the movable board (2, 12, 22, 32) is mounted freely in rotation about the central axis of the fixed base (4), the driving in rotation of the movable board (2, 12, 22, 32) taking place manually by the user.
  5. Ironing board according to any one of claims 2 and 3, characterised in that the movable board (2, 12, 22, 32) and/or the fixed base (4) comprises means promoting the driving in rotation of the movable board (2) relative to the fixed base (4) such as rollers, sliding strips and the like.
  6. Ironing board according to claim 3, characterised in that the driving in rotation of the movable board (2, 12, 22, 32) takes place by mechanical drive means such as rack and pinion, belt and toothed wheel, controlled by electrical, pneumatic and other suitable means.
  7. Ironing board according to any one of claims 3 to 6, characterised in that it comprises blocking means enabling the movable board (2, 12, 22, 32) to be immobilised relative to the fixed base (4), during pressing.
  8. Ironing board according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the board (2) is circular, said board comprising moreover a substantially angular portion (3, 3') projecting from the circular board (2) corresponding to the pointed portion of a conventional ironing board.
  9. Ironing board according to claim 8, characterised in that the pointed portion (3, 3') is mounted retractably below the board (2), such as slidably on rails (6).
  10. Ironing board according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the board has an essentially circular shape but moreover comprises at least one angle greater than or equal to 90°.
  11. Ironing board according to claim 10, characterised in that the board (12) of essentially circular shape has a right angle (11).
  12. Ironing board according to claim 11, characterised in that the angle (11) of the board (12) is of one piece with the movable board (12) of the ironing board.
  13. Ironing board according to claim 11, characterised in that the angle (11) of the board (12) is separate and connected to the movable board (12) of the ironing board.
  14. Ironing board according to claim 10, characterised in that the board (22) has the form of a truncated ellipse.
  15. Ironing board according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the board (32) is substantially of two parts, one corresponding to a half-circle (32a) and the other (32b) having the form of a U whose base is rounded.
  16. Ironing board according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterised in that a steam or suction device is incorporated below the board (2, 12, 22, 32) of the board, preferably between the base and said board (2, 12, 22, 32).
