Aspiration orifice 18 is then activated, pulling in a mucosoal portion 20 of the bowel wall 14 of bowel cavity 15.

The low compliance of both the perfusion system as well as the catheter is critical to minimize measurement artifacts as high compliance would blunt the amplitude of pressure change and significantly limit the rate at which such changes can be properly recorded.
