Claims (21)

  1. Apparatus by means of which a material web wound into a supply roll (01) is prepared for a flying roll change, having a bearing for supporting and rotating the supply roll (01) about a longitudinal axis (16), wherein at least one sensor (09; 11) is provided for sensing a radius of the supply roll (01) during the rotary movement thereof, characterized in that a plurality of radius-sensing sensors (09; 11) are arranged in the direction of the longitudinal axis (16) of the supply roll (01).
  2. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sensors (09; 11) are arranged so as to sense the supply roll (01) in contact therewith.
  3. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sensors (09; 11) are arranged so as to sense the supply roll (01) without being in contact therewith.
  4. Apparatus according to Claim 3, characterized in that the sensors (09; 11) are optical or acoustic sensors (09; 11).
  5. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that a measuring beam of the sensors (09; 11) encloses an opening angle (α) of +15° to -15° with a horizontal.
  6. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that a measuring beam of the sensors (09; 11) is arranged more or less horizontally.
  7. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sensors (09; 11) are arranged laterally in relation to the supply roll (01).
  8. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that at least three sensors are spaced apart one beside the other in the direction of the longitudinal axis (16) of the supply roll (01).
  9. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the apparatus has at least one pair of sensors (09; 11) for sensing diametrically opposite sides of the supply roll (01).
  10. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that an evaluation unit (26) is provided for determining a deviation of the shape of the supply roll (01) from an ideal shape by way of measurement results from the at least one sensor (09; 11).
  11. Apparatus according to Claim 10, characterized in that the evaluation unit (26) is set up to detect non-roundness of the supply roll (01) by way of the radius sensed by a sensor (09; 11) varying during rotation of the supply roll (01).
  12. Apparatus according to Claims 9 and 10, characterized in that the evaluation unit (26) is set up to detect non-roundness of the supply roll (01) by way of a comparison of the radii sensed by the sensors (09; 11) of the pair of sensors.
  13. Apparatus according to Claim 10, characterized in that the evaluation unit (26) is set up to detect conicity of the supply roll (01) by way of a comparison of the radii sensed by the sensors (09; 11) in the group.
  14. Apparatus according to one of Claims 10 to 13, characterized in that the evaluation unit (26) and also a control unit (24) are implemented for controlling the adhesive-tape dispenser using a common processor (13).
  15. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by the provision of an interface for reading a set of data in and out.
  16. Apparatus according to Claim 15, characterized in that the apparatus is set up to write the radius sensed into the set of data.
  17. Apparatus according to either of Claims 15 and 16 and one of Claims 10 to 13, characterized in that the apparatus is set up to write the deviation into the set of data.
  18. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sensors (09; 11) are arranged in a means for applying an adhesive tape (17).
  19. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the apparatus has an adhesive-tape dispenser which can be moved in the direction of the longitudinal axis (16) of the supply roll (01).
  20. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized by the provision of two rollers (03) which rotate the supply roll (01).
  21. Apparatus according to Claim 20, characterized in that the two rollers (03) are positioned at different heights in dependence on a radius of the supply roll (01).
