Thus, each means of fixing by adherence (21, 10 22) is interposed between one face of each flank (11, 12) and a base of the core (13).

Description

SPOOL FOR AN EMBOSSED CARRYING BELT
The present invention relates, generally, to a spool that is used for 'storing and transporting an embossed carrying belt. More concretely, the present invention relates to a spool that stores and transports a belt that can carry devices of reduced dimensions and weight, such as electronic components.
Spools that are used for storing and transporting embossed carrying belts are known in the state of the art. Generally, a spool has two flanks of circular cross section joined to a support that normally has the form of a right cylinder. Consequently, the embossed carrying belt can be coiled or wound round said tubular support. The carrying belt includes a set of devices such as electronic components spaced a predetermined distance apart, which are manufactured in a stamping process. The spools have various applications, according to the ultimate purpose of the devices that they store, but they are always used by withdrawing them from the spool, in an unwinding operation.
The tubular' support is joined to both flanks by means of a quick-drying adhesive gum, which is interposed between the flanks and the tubular support. Accordingly, once the two flanks have been glued to the tubular support, the embossed carrying belt can be wound on itself and round the tubular support forming the spool, which is the unit that is used for its marketing. Consequently, spool storing times are avoided in the production process, as the spools are mounted and used as and when required.
Oils are used in the stamping process to prevent wear of the stamping machine and for lubricating the embossed carrying belt, to facilitate its application. Said oils, which normally contain solvents and waxes, always degrade the quick-drying glue, and therefore after some time the flanks lose their adherence to the tubular support. The result is that unglued spools appear in final application of the product, or they become unglued during final application of the product, once it is fitted in the relevant machine, i.e. the spool is unusable.
In either case, the product cannot be used, causing losses of material or stoppages of the machines for application of the device, and hence of the entire production line.
In consequence, there is a considerable loss of time and a decrease in output and, in addition, loss of the part of the embossed carrying belt that remained on the degraded spool.
Therefore it has become necessary to develop a spool for an embossed carrying belt that is easy to assemble, of reduced cost, in which none of the parts forming the spool is affected by the oils used in the stamping process nor by the heat that is produced in the process and that can be used immediately after being assembled. In consequence, stoppage of the production process in which this type of spool is used is avoided, and it is no longer necessary to mount and store a predetermined number of spools before starting the production process, resulting in a cost saving.
In order to solve the problems described above, a spool for an embossed carrying belt is proposed that comprises two flanks joined to a surface of revolution of circular cross section, i.e. a core, by means of a first means of fixing by adherence and a second means of fixing by adherence in such a way that the two means of adherence have a different rate of drying.
Thus, each flank is joined or fixed by contact at a base of the core, as each means of fixing by adherence is interposed between one face of each flank and a base of the core.
One aim of the invention is to prevent the useful life of the spool for an embossed carrying belt being shortened by certain substances used in the production process, i.e. the spool is resistant to the action of heat, oils and solvent and can be used immediately after being assembled. This is achieved owing to the combined action of the means for fixing by adherence, i.e. the first means of fixing by adherence is quick-drying so that the spool or reel can be used once mounted, therefore the spool passes immediately to the production line and, in the meantime, the second means of fixing by adherence has time to dry, as the second means of adherence is slow-drying, which is unaffected by the solvents contained in the oils with which the embossed device is impregnated.
It should be pointed out that the action of adherence of the two means of adherence is complementary and therefore the drying process of the second means of adherence can take place while the spool is being used in the production line.
Another aim of the invention is to reduce the number of spools used in the manufacturing process, this is achieved by fitting spools that are not degraded during their use in the manufacturing process, so that the production costs are reduced, and in its turn the wastage of embossed carrying belt is reduced, because all of the belt wound on each spool is used in the manufacturing process.
Another aim is to achieve a simple and economical process of spool production and assembly.
Another aim is to obtain spools that are easy to store and move or transport. Another aim of the invention is to reduce the number of interruptions or stoppages of the stamping machine .
A more detailed explanation of the invention is given in the following description, based on the appended drawings in which:
Fig. 1 shows, diagrammatically, a spool for an embossed carrying belt according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows, diagrammatically, a surface of revolution according to the invention, and
Fig. 3 shows, diagrammatically, another surface of revolution according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a spool for an embossed carrying belt that comprises two flanks 11, 12 and a surface of revolution 13 such as a hollow right cylinder that has a circular cross section, i.e. the form of a circular ring.
The surface of revolution 13, i.e. the annular core, can be made from paper wound in a spiral and each flank 11 can be made of corrugated or fluted board in the form of a disc.
Fig. 2 shows, on one base of the annular core, a first means of fixing by adherence 21 and a second means of fixing by adherence 22, so that as a result of the combined action of the two fixing means 21, 22, complete fixing of each disc 11 to the annular core 13 is obtained.
For this, strips of the first means of fixing by adherence 21 and of the second means of fixing by adherence 22 are arranged alternately on each base of core 13, so that complete fixation of each disc 11 to the annular core 13 is obtained by contact.
Each means of fixing by adherence 21, 22 can be an adhesive gum, so that each means of adherence 21, 22, i.e. adhesive or glue, is characterised in that it has a predetermined drying rate, the two being different.
For example, the first adhesive 21 is characterised in that it is quick-drying, and the second means of adherence 22 is characterised in that its drying rate is slower than the drying rate of the first means of adherence 21, enabling the spool to be used immediately after assembly, with the guarantee that, after some time, the degradation that the manufacturing process produces in the first adhesive 21 will not separate or detach the flanks 11, 12 from the annular core 13 because of the action of the second adhesive, which is slow-drying.
Fig. 3 shows another example of a spool for an embossed carrying belt that comprises two flanks 11, 12 and an annular core 13 that includes two concentric surfaces of revolution, i.e. two hollow right cylinders of different diameter, in such a way that, for example, the first adhesive 21 is deposited on the bases of the annular core 13 of larger diameter and the second adhesive is deposited on the bases of the second annular core 31 of smaller diameter. This spool, which has two annular cores, can likewise be used immediately after assembly in the production line.
