Das Druckelement 20 drückt nun das Auflageelement 21 gegen die Federn 22 nach unten, die Form der Elemente 20, 21 ist einander angepasst, so dass sich eine großflächige form- und/oder kraftschlüssige Auflage ergibt. Das Auflageelement 21 ist über seine Länge über mehrere Federn 22 aufgelagert. Hierüber erfolgt zum einen eine sichere Arretierung aufgrund einer Klemmwirkung zwischen den beiden Elementen 20, 21, zum anderen wird ein Teil des Maschinengewichts auf die Schutzeinrichtung 3 verlagert, die ihrerseits durch die Klemmverbindung auf den Boden gedrückt wird, wodurch im Falle einer nicht verankerten Schutzeinrichtung, die z.B. auf Gummi- oder Federfüßen steht, diese zusätzlich gehaltert wird. Die einzunehmende Schaltposition wird durch die Länge des Betätigungszapfens 26 definiert. Wird also die Maschine 2 in ihre Endposition gebracht, greift der Betätigungszapfen 26 am Codierschalter 25 an und bringt diesen abhängig von seiner Länge entweder in die Position 27a (der z.B. die in Paketzufuhrrichtung vordere Position zugeordnet ist) oder 27b (entsprechend die hintere Position). Die nicht näher gezeigte Steuerungseinrichtung der Maschine kann nun abhängig von dieser Positionsinformation die entsprechende positionsbezogene Steuerungssoftware einladen und abarbeiten. Über diese Software wird im Übrigen auch der Betrieb eines der Maschine zugeordneten Paketanschlags 16 und/oder einer zugeordneten Presse 17 gesteuert, wozu eine entsprechende, nicht näher gezeugte Steuerverbindung vorgesehen ist.Shown is also a coding switch 25, which is also assigned to the protective device 3, an actuating pin 26. Fig. 5 zeigt ein weiteres Ausführungsbeispiel einer erfindungsgemäßen Umreifungsvorrichtung 1', bei der ebenfalls eine Schutzeinrichtung 3' sowie zwei unterschiedliche Umreifungsmaschinen 2a und 2b vorgesehen ist, wobei die Maschine 2a eine Querumreifungsmaschine und die Maschine 2b eine Längsumreifungsmaschine ist. Der Aufbau der beiden Maschinen 2a, 2b entspricht dem der Maschine 2 aus Fig. 1, auch hier ist lediglich ein vorderes Verkleidungsteil 6a, 6b vorgesehen, alle anderen Seiten sind unverkleidet, Entsprechendes gilt für den Arbeitsbereich. Hier ist jedoch lediglich an einer Seite ein Druckelement 20a bzw. 20b vorgesehen, denen entsprechende Auflageelemente 21 a und 21 b an der Schutzeinrichtung 3' zugeordnet sind. Claims (18)

  1. Device for strapping a package with a strapping band, comprising at least one strapping machine for carrying out the strapping, characterised in that a protective device (3, 3') is provided with an access aperture (13), into which and from which the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) is movable through the access aperture (13), the protective device (3, 3') covering at least partly the machine frame (4) and the working area of the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) disposed therein.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the protective device (3) is formed for receiving a strapping machine (2), the strapping machine (2) having in the region of the machine frame (4) a covering (6) on only one side, whilst the other sides to be covered are covered by the protective device (3).
  3. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the protective device (3') is formed to receive two or more strapping machines (2a, 2b), the strapping machines (2a, 2b) having in the region of the machine frame a covering (6a, 6b) on only one side, whilst the other sides to be covered are covered by the protective device (3').
  4. Device according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the protective device (3, 3') has in the region above the machine frame covering (6, 6a, 6b) one or more closable access apertures (14).
  5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the one or each strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) is allocated at least one safety switch (23), which is automatically closed when the strapping machine is inserted, and which is automatically opened when the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) is removed, so that operation of the one or all strapping machines (2, 2a, 2b) is suppressed.
  6. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that if plural strapping machines (2a, 2b) are to be insertable in the protective device (3'), each strapping machine (2a, 2b) has at least one coding switch (25) indicating the position of the strapping machine (2a, 2b) in the protective device (3'), the coding switch being automatically actuated when the inserted position is reached, control of the strapping machine (2a, 2b) being effected according to the position.
  7. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that one or each strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) is provided on the protective device (3, 3') with a package stop (16) which is movable in the path of motion of the package and/or a pressing device (17) is provided for the package.
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the package stop (16) and/or the package press (17) are disposed on a support (15) extending above the inserted strapping machine(s) (2, 2a, 2b).
  9. Device according to claim 7 or 8, characterised in that the movement of the package stop (16) and/or of the package press (17) over the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) is controllable.
  10. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that cooperating locking means (18, 19, 28, 29) for locking a strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) in the inserted position are provided on a strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) and the protective device (3, 3').
  11. Device according to claim 10, characterised in that the locking means (18, 19, 30, 31) take the form of clamping means, catch means or adhesive means.
  12. Device according to claim 11, characterised in that the locking means (18, 19) are formed as a contact element (21, 21a, 21b) movable against a restoring force and cooperating at least in the inserted position with a pressure element (20, 20a, 20b) acting thereon and pushing the same against the restoring force.
  13. Device according to claim 12, characterised in that a contact element (21, 21a, 21b) and a pressure element (20, 20a, 20b) are so disposed on the protective device (3, 3') and the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b) that the pressure element (20, 20a, 20b) may be mounted on the contact element (21, 21a, 21b) or removed therefrom upon moving of the strapping machine (2, 2a, 2b).
  14. Device according to one of claims 10 to 13, characterised in that cooperating locking means (18, 19), in particular a pressure element and a contact element, are disposed on a side of the machine frame (4) parallel to the direction of motion and on an opposing side of the protective device (3, 3').
  15. Device according to one of claims 10 to 13, characterised in that cooperating locking means (30, 31), in particular a pressure element and a contact element, are disposed on the end face of the machine frame (4) and on the opposing side of the protective device (3, 3').
  16. Device according to one of claims 12 to 15, characterised in that a contact element (21, 21a, 21b) and/or a pressure element (20, 20a, 20b) is formed like a rail.
  17. Device according to claim 16, characterised in that on the upper face of the rail-like contact element (21, 21a, 21b), preferably knob-like projections are provided, which in the final inserted position engage in corresponding recesses provided on the rail-like pressure element (20, 20a, 20b).
  18. Device according to one of claims 12 to 17, characterised in that the contact element (21, 21a, 21b) is sprung.
