Abstract

The invention relates to a chair, provided with a seat (4) and a support (8a,8b) for the seat (4). The seat (4) is connected reversible to the support, for example with the aid of a shaft (3a) which passes across the width through the centre of the seat (4). Both sides of the seat (4) are provided with different upholsterings, so that by turning the seat (4) for example another upholstering may be chosen.

Description

  • The invention relates to a chair, comprising a seat and a support for the seat. A chair of this kind is known and can be found in substantially every home.
  • The inventive thought, which forms the basis for the chair according to the invention, is that of a seat both sides may be used. The inventive chair is thereto according to an aspect of the invention characterised in that the seat is provided with a first seat face and with a second seat face, positioned opposite to the first seat face, and that the seat is fitted rotatable or reversible onto the support, so that the first or the second seat face may be used as desired.
  • A favourable embodiment of the invention is characterised in that the first seat face and the second seat face are made mutually dissimilar. So may for example the upholstering be different, which means that a certain decorative effect may be obtained by turning the seat or one side may be made of natural wood which can be cleaned easily, while the other side is upholstered.
  • A further favourable embodiment is characterised in that the seat is mounted for rotation round a shaft to the support. In this case one may simply rotate the seat in order to obtain a seat face with for example another upholstering. It is also possible to move the shaft in a vertical direction out of the centre of the seat, which means that by rotating the seat, two different heights may be realised for the seat.
  • A favourable embodiment with which the stability of the chair is guaranteed is characterised in that the chair is provided with stop means, for catching the seat in a previously determined position with respect to the support. Generally, the seat will be stopped in a horizontal position, but if desired one may design the stop means such that the seat can be placed slightly tilted.
  • A favourable alternative embodiment is characterised in that two mutually opposite sides of the seat are each provided with projections, which are operationally positioned inside recesses in the support. In this case, one may lift the seat from the support, rotate it and put it back onto the support, for example in order to change the colour of the upholstering.
  • A further favourable embodiment is characterised in that the chair is moreover provided with a back. Preferably, the back is provided with a first support face and a second support face, positioned opposite to the first support face and that the back is fitted rotatable or reversible onto the support, so that the first or the second support face may be used as desired.
  • A further favourable embodiment is characterised in that the first and the second support face are made mutually dissimilar.
  • A further favourable embodiment is characterised in that the back is mounted for rotation round a shaft to the support. In this case one may simply rotate the back round the shaft in order to obtain another upholstering.
  • A favourable alternative embodiment is characterised in that two mutually opposite sides of the back are each provided with projections, which are operationally positioned inside recesses in the support. In this case, one may lift the back off the support, rotate it and put it back onto the support, for example in order to change the type of upholstering, so that for example the resilience of the back can be chosen or a certain decorative effect can be obtained.
  • The invention will now be further explained with a reference to the following figures, in which:

  • Fig. 1A represents a possible embodiment of a chair in side view, with two sides 1a, 1b, of which only side 1a is visible in the figure, with each side being frame-shaped.
  • Sides 1a,1b are mutually coupled with the aid of two cross connections 2a,2b and with a shaft 3, round which a seat 4 is rotatably mounted. Moreover arresting means 5 are provided, for example a pin which may be put in an opening in seat 4 via side 1a. In the embodiment shown here, shaft 3 does not pass via the centre of cushion 4, as a result of which the height of the chair may be selected by rotating seat 4.
  • Fig. 1B represents an alternative embodiment in side view, with two sides 6a,6b, of which only side 6a is visible in the figure, with each side being T-shaped. Sides 6a,6b are mutually coupled with the aid of two cross connections 2a,2b and with a shaft 3, round which a seat 4 is rotatably mounted. Moreover arresting means 7 are provided, coupled to shaft 3, well known to the skilled man, with the aid of which seat 4 can be arrested, so that it can no longer rotate round shaft 3. In the embodiment shown here, the two sides of seat 4 are differently upholstered and an upholstering may be selected by turning around seat 4.
  • Fig. 2A represents a further alternative embodiment of a chair in side view, consisting of two side panels 8a,8b, of which only side panel 8a is visible in the figure, which are mutually coupled with the aid of three cross connections 2a,2b,2c.
