Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for treating a paper web, in which the paper web is overdried, rewetted and passes through a calender wherein the paper web after overdrying in a state with a moisture content below a value, which is for the calendering of the paper web in a calender is required, wound up and stored for a predetermined rest time, wherein the web is moistened in a first stage of rewet before rewinding and is further rewetted in a second stage after unwinding.
- Such a method is from the document EP 1 335 066 A1 known.
- the paper web is moistened before being wound up to a moisture content of at least 6%.
- the invention relates to the treatment of SC paper in the off-line process.
- the paper web When making a paper web of SC paper, the paper web is dried at the end of the paper machine in the dryer section.
- the mean humidity is set to a predetermined value. It turns out, however, that "moisture pockets" on the order of a few square centimeters form, in and between the fibers of the web. This leads to "stains” with high moisture content next to areas with lower humidity. These damp spots have a particularly disadvantageous effect in connection with a calendering process in which a so-called “cockling” can occur after exposure to higher pressure and higher temperature.
- Overdrying means to reduce the moisture content of the paper web to a value which is below a value which is required for the calendering of the paper web in a calender.
- the paper web then has a moisture content of, for example, 2%.
- the over-dried paper web is rewetted so that it receives the moisture that is required for the calendering.
- the rewetted The paper web can then either be satinized on-line or wound up and later unwound and satin-finished off-line. The remoistening can still be done in the paper machine, so after the dryer section and, if available, before winding.
- the invention has for its object to improve the result of the treatment of the paper web in the calender.
- This object is achieved in a method of the type mentioned above by rewetting the paper web before winding in a first stage in the region of the equilibrium stage and further humidified after unwinding in a second stage.
- the equilibrium moisture content is, for example, 5% to 6%, but is usually insufficient for the calendering. This allows the moisture application required for complete rewetting to be controlled even more precisely. There is more time available, so that the moisture can be increased to the desired extent.
- the paper web in the first stage is rewetted to the level of the equilibrium moisture of its environment.
- Such moisture is on the order of 5 to 6%. It creates a condition in which between the moisture of the wound paper web, so the humidity of the spool, and the environment a moisture balance, so that neither moisture escapes from the spool into the environment still takes place an impact of moisture from the environment on the spool ,
- the paper web is dried prior to winding to a maximum moisture of 4%. In many cases, the humidity will be lowered even further. Such overdrying has proven to dry out the moisture nests so far that they no longer bother.
- the paper web is rewet before the first nip of the calender to a moisture content of at least 7%, in particular in the range of 8 to 12%.
- an exposure time in the range of 0.1 to 1 s, in particular in the range of 0.3 to 0.6 s, between the rewetting and the passage of the first nip before.
- the overdried paper web is thus moistened relatively shortly before entering the first nip of the calender.
- the paper web is moister on its top or tops than in its center. Accordingly, the center of the paper web behaves largely elastically while the surface layers can be plastically flattened. Accordingly, the thickness loss when passing through the calender is lower.
- the remoistening is carried out with a nozzle applicator using gas-operated atomizing nozzles.
- a nozzle applicator you get enough moisture on the paper web, so that you can achieve the required moisture increase in a relatively short time.
- steam is used as the drive gas for the atomizer nozzles.
- the vapor gives the liquid used for wetting, not just the desired kinetic energy needed by the moisture to atomize and transport it to the surface of the paper web.
- the moisture is also heated, so that one can achieve a better penetration of moisture into the surface of the paper web.
- additional moisture reaches the paper web.
- the paper web becomes thermal energy fed, which improves the Satinageresultat on the basis of the "Temperature / Moisture gradient method".
- the top and bottom of the paper web are moistened.
- a moisture increase can be achieved even faster.
- a paper web 1 is produced in a paper machine 2 and dried in the dryer section 3 of the paper machine 2.
- the paper web 1 leaves the dryer section at an outlet 4 with a maximum moisture content of 4%, preferably even with an even lower humidity of only 2 to 3%. So it is overdried.
- Such a low moisture is not sufficient to smooth the paper web 2 in a calender 5, which is placed separately from the paper machine 2, that is, off-line.
- Dashed lines show two additional nozzle dampers 15, 16 at the output 4 of the dryer section 3.
- this nozzle moistener 15, 16 can make a two-stage humidification.
- the paper web 1 is first raised to the humidity of the respective ambient condition. These are usually 5 to 6%. Such moisture is not enough to lead to a satisfactory calendering result in the calender 5.
- the second moistening device 10 can then work with a lower moisture application and you can still ensure that the paper web 1 when reaching the first nips 13 of the calender 5 has the moisture required for the calendering.
- the thus overdried paper web 1 is wound in a winding 6 on a reel 7 shown only schematically. On the spool 7 so is the over-dried paper web 1 with the described low humidity. It is therefore virtually ruled out that the paper web 1 during the time in which it is wound on the spool 7, emits moisture to the environment.
- the over-drying has the effect that even moisture nests, which usually form in the paper web and have a size of a few square centimeters, are dried out. Even if they do not completely disappear as a result, there is nevertheless a very substantial homogenization of the moisture over the surface of the paper web 1.
- This homogenization is further improved by winding the paper web 1 in the very dry state onto the spool 7. A longer residence time on the drum is usually not required.
- the homogenization ie the moisture transfer from one layer of the paper web 1 to an adjacent one Position on the spool 7 already begins during winding, as soon as paper web layers abut each other. The moisture balance can continue until these layers are lifted off each other when unwinding. Accordingly, the time required for winding and unwinding, plus the time required to transport the spool 7 from the reel 6 shown to a rewind 8, is generally sufficient to effect the desired moisture balance.
- the rest period in which the paper web 1 is wound on the spool 7, of course, can be longer without this having negative effects. It is preferably in the range of 10 to 30 minutes.
- the paper web 1 is unwound from the spool 7 and rewetted in a moistening device 10, i. it increases the moisture content of the paper web 1 to at least 7%, preferably 8 to 12%. Such moisture is favorable to satinize the paper web 1 in the calender 5.
- the moistening device has two nozzle moisteners 11, 12, which are arranged on both sides of the paper web 1.
- the two nozzle dampers 11, 12 are arranged at a distance in front of the first nip 13 of the calender 5, which is dimensioned so that the paper web 1 about 0.1 to 1 s, preferably 0.3 to 0.6 s is required to cover the distance between the moistening device 10 and the first nip 13 of the calender 5.
- the nozzle dampers 11, 12 operate with atomizing nozzles, in which the liquid which is applied to the paper web 1 is atomized by means of a pressurized gas.
- the liquid used is preferably water.
- a "propellant gas” you can use water vapor.
- Steam has the advantage that it can not only atomize the water in the nozzle dampers 11, 12 with a relatively high pressure. At the same time, the steam introduces a certain amount of heat into the resulting liquid droplets, so that the liquid can penetrate better into the paper web 1.
- additional moisture is applied to the surfaces of the paper web 1 with the steam.
- the paper web 1 is heated, so that in addition to a temperature gradient, a moisture gradient results.
- air can also be used as drive gas.
- the moisture (or other correlating paper properties) is determined and reported back to the humidifier 10. So you can make an automatic cross-profile of the moisture when rewetting.
- Fig. 2 shows the calender 5, which consists of two roller stacks 5a, 5b. Same parts are denoted by the same reference numerals as in FIG Fig. 1 designated. Between the two roller stacks 5a, 5b further moistener 17, 18 are arranged, which are used for rewetting.
- Additional moistening devices 19, 20 may be provided in the roller stacks 5a, 5b in order to keep the moisture during the calendering within a predetermined range.
- the described procedure is of particular interest in connection with at least one single-row dryer group in the dryer section 3 and possibly high-vacuum boxes in the dryer section 3. Furthermore, it is favorable to use a dilution hydrogen headbox in the paper machine 2, optionally also a gap former and at least one shoe press with at least one steam blow box.
- the cross sections in particular the moisture profile, but also the thickness and surface mass profile at a higher level of quality. This reduces problems that could arise during the winding of the overdried paper web 1 on the drum 7.

Description
The invention relates to a method for treating a paper web, in which the paper web is overdried, rewetted and passes through a calender wherein the paper web after overdrying in a state with a moisture content below a value, which is for the calendering of the paper web in a calender is required, wound up and stored for a predetermined rest time, wherein the web is moistened in a first stage of rewet before rewinding and is further rewetted in a second stage after unwinding.
In particular, the invention relates to the treatment of SC paper in the off-line process.
When making a paper web of SC paper, the paper web is dried at the end of the paper machine in the dryer section. Here, the mean humidity is set to a predetermined value. It turns out, however, that "moisture pockets" on the order of a few square centimeters form, in and between the fibers of the web. This leads to "stains" with high moisture content next to areas with lower humidity. These damp spots have a particularly disadvantageous effect in connection with a calendering process in which a so-called "cockling" can occur after exposure to higher pressure and higher temperature.
To overcome this problem, it is known to overdrive the paper web. Overdrying here means to reduce the moisture content of the paper web to a value which is below a value which is required for the calendering of the paper web in a calender. The paper web then has a moisture content of, for example, 2%. The over-dried paper web is rewetted so that it receives the moisture that is required for the calendering. The rewetted The paper web can then either be satinized on-line or wound up and later unwound and satin-finished off-line. The remoistening can still be done in the paper machine, so after the dryer section and, if available, before winding.
The invention has for its object to improve the result of the treatment of the paper web in the calender.
This object is achieved in a method of the type mentioned above by rewetting the paper web before winding in a first stage in the region of the equilibrium stage and further humidified after unwinding in a second stage. The equilibrium moisture content is, for example, 5% to 6%, but is usually insufficient for the calendering. This allows the moisture application required for complete rewetting to be controlled even more precisely. There is more time available, so that the moisture can be increased to the desired extent.
It is preferred that the paper web in the first stage is rewetted to the level of the equilibrium moisture of its environment. Such moisture is on the order of 5 to 6%. It creates a condition in which between the moisture of the wound paper web, so the humidity of the spool, and the environment a moisture balance, so that neither moisture escapes from the spool into the environment still takes place an impact of moisture from the environment on the spool ,
One uses a calender with several roller stacks and performs a rewet even between two roller stacks. Even with this, a sufficient rewet can be achieved.
So you wind up the paper in a very dry state. The rewet to the moisture necessary for the treatment of the paper web in the calender is then carried out only after the rewinding of the paper web and before passing through the calender. It is believed that by drying the paper web over the moisture nests can not be completely eliminated. Due to the rest period of the over-dried wound paper web can then perform a moisture balance. The rest period does not have to be excessive. A moisture balance does not have to be done by the entire radius of the spool. A balance between adjacent paper web layers on the spool is sufficient. Also in the length and width direction of the web, based on the spool so in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction, a moisture balance can take place. However, this compensation already begins during winding, so that the time to compensate sufficient, which is needed for winding the overdried paper web, the transport of the spool from the winding position to an unwinding position and the unwinding. This time, especially the transport, usually takes at least a few minutes. During this time, the desired moisture balance in the overdried web is done so far that you can achieve a very uniform humidity. As an additional advantage, it follows that the tambour to be transported unchanged conditions otherwise assumed - due to the reduced moisture has a slightly reduced weight, which may have a positive effect on the transport.
Preferably, the paper web is dried prior to winding to a maximum moisture of 4%. In many cases, the humidity will be lowered even further. Such overdrying has proven to dry out the moisture nests so far that they no longer bother.
Vorzugsweise rückbefeuchtet man die Papierbahn vor dem ersten Nip des Kalanders auf eine Feuchte von mindestens 7 %, insbesondere im Bereich von 8 bis 12 %.Preferably, the paper web is rewet before the first nip of the calender to a moisture content of at least 7%, in particular in the range of 8 to 12%.
Preferably, an exposure time in the range of 0.1 to 1 s, in particular in the range of 0.3 to 0.6 s, between the rewetting and the passage of the first nip before. The overdried paper web is thus moistened relatively shortly before entering the first nip of the calender. This has the consequence that the moisture when passing through the first nip not yet penetrated very far into the middle of the paper web is. This results in a moisture gradient. The paper web is moister on its top or tops than in its center. Accordingly, the center of the paper web behaves largely elastically while the surface layers can be plastically flattened. Accordingly, the thickness loss when passing through the calender is lower.
In the case of rewetting, it is preferable to provide a transverse profile control of the moisture or corresponding correlating properties of the paper web. This is another measure to even out the moisture distribution in the paper web.
Preferably, the remoistening is carried out with a nozzle applicator using gas-operated atomizing nozzles. With a nozzle applicator you get enough moisture on the paper web, so that you can achieve the required moisture increase in a relatively short time.
It is preferred that steam is used as the drive gas for the atomizer nozzles. The vapor gives the liquid used for wetting, not just the desired kinetic energy needed by the moisture to atomize and transport it to the surface of the paper web. In addition, the moisture is also heated, so that one can achieve a better penetration of moisture into the surface of the paper web. In addition, with the condensing steam additional moisture reaches the paper web. Also, the paper web becomes thermal energy fed, which improves the Satinageresultat on the basis of the "Temperature / Moisture gradient method".
Alternatively, one can use air as the drive gas for the atomizer nozzle. This is especially favorable from a cost point of view.
Preferably, the top and bottom of the paper web are moistened. With a two-sided application of moisture, a moisture increase can be achieved even faster.
- single-tier dryer group in the dryer section
- at least one high vacuum box in the dryer section
- a dilution hydrogen casserole
- a gapformer
- at least one shoe press with at least one steam box.

Dashed lines show two
The thus overdried
In addition, the over-drying has the effect that even moisture nests, which usually form in the paper web and have a size of a few square centimeters, are dried out. Even if they do not completely disappear as a result, there is nevertheless a very substantial homogenization of the moisture over the surface of the
The transport of the main cylinder 7 from the reeling 6 to 8 unwinding is shown schematically by an arrow 9.
The rest period in which the
In the
Expediently, the moistening device has two
The nozzle dampers 11, 12 operate with atomizing nozzles, in which the liquid which is applied to the
As an alternative to steam, air can also be used as drive gas.
Since, in principle, only the surface of the
With the aid of a
The described procedure is of particular interest in connection with at least one single-row dryer group in the
Due to the lower moisture content of the paper web 1 (compared to the conventional off-line process) wrinkling on the wound spool 7 is prevented, in particular in the upper layers. This wrinkling is caused by shrinkage processes of the
Since the
