A flat full collar (4) in the centre of the top part of the plate (1) contains a square opening (5) and on the plate (1) is a drainage cover (6), set-up from side walls and top wall, of which the drainage openings (11) which are inside the drain cover (6), make from 20 to 30 % of the total surface of the drainage cover (6).
The plate (1), collar (4) and drainage cover (6) are connected together by a connecting screw (10), which is connected to the nut (3) in the drainpipe (9).
A drain frame (7), which is made-up of sidewalls and top wall, and has drainage openings (11), can be placed around the drain cover (6).

Description

    Technical Field
  • The invention refers to a railway bridge drain and falls into the category of the devices used for the drainage of bridge structures, with the advantage of railway overpasses. More precisely falls into the category of structural or constructional elements for bridges.
  • Background Art
  • The new device for the drainage of the railway bed consists of a vertical drainpipe, which passes through the waterproofing bed and contains a grate on the inlet.
A disadvantage is that the horizontal grate can become clogged with dirt and therfore can lead to inadequate drainage of all the layers of the railway bed.
  • Disclosure of the Invention
  • The railway bridge drain is made-up of a flat plate, which has a round opening in the middle, and of a drainpipe that is placed in the round opening of the plate, to which it is vertically joined. Inside the drainpipe, in the centre is a nut.
The aim of the solution is that there is a flat collar that has a square opening, on the top surface of the plate. Inside the plate, which is made-up of sidewalls and top wall, is a square drain cover. The drainage openings that are inside the drainage cover form 20 to 30% of the total surface area.
The plate, collar and drain cover are joined together by a connecting screw, which is connected to the nut in the drainpipe.
The solution is a drain frame with a collar, made-up of sidewalls and top wall, around the drainage cover that has drainage openings.
  • The device enables the consistent drainage of the railway bed, which is formed either by gravel underlay placed on the waterproofing or as a combination mixture of gravel and concrete.
The device is designed so that the dirt can enter through the openings in the drainage cover or even the openings of the drainage frame, without clogging them.
The device is consequently designed to enable the entrapment of the geotextiles and edge of the waterproofing. The connecting screw draws the parts together and so maintains the impermeability of the railway bed.
The device according to the invention drains the railway bed at all horizontal layers, which form it.
  • Brief Description of the Drawings
  • An example of the designed solution is described with referral to the drawings, where fig.1 shows the plate with the round opening and nut connected to the centre. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the whole set of the device. Fig. 3 is the plate with grate placed in the round opening i.e. the present solution to drainage. Fig. 4 is the collar with the square opening. Fig.5 is a bird's eye view of the complete set of the device. Fig .6 is the drainage cover. Fig. 7 is the drainage frame. Fig. 8 is the oblique-angled view on the complete set of the device.
  • Example of the Invention
  • There was a railway bridge drain installed on the bottom of the railway bed according to the invention.
The railway bed is made-up of the following layers: gravel, drainage layer and waterproofing, which are consistently drained with the aid of the designed device.
  • The railway bridge drain, made-up of a flat full plate 1, which has a round opening 2 in its centre, and of a drainpipe 9, which is situated in the round opening 2, of the plate 1 to which it is vertically connected and inside the drainpipe 9 has a nut 3 in its centre.
  • On the top surface of the plate 1 is a flat collar 4, which has the shape and dimensions corresponding to those of the plate 1. In the centre of the collar 4 is a square opening 5 and inside it on the plate 1 a square drain cover 6 is placed. It is made-up only from sidewalls and top wall and there are drainage openings 11 in the walls. The total surface of the drainage openings 11 makes 25 % of the total surface of the drain cover 6.
Around the drainage cover 6 is a drainage frame 7 placed, which is formed by sidewalls and the top wall. There are also drainage openings 11 in the walls of the drain frame 7.
  • The edge of the geotextiles 12, which is part of the railway bed, is placed on the upper surface of the collar 4 and clamped by the drain frame 7. The waterproofing 13, is welded onto the surface of the railway bed and is clamped between the plate 1 and collar 4.
The plate 1, collar 4 and drain cover 6 are all connected together by a tightened connecting screw 10, which is fastened to the nut 3 in the drainpipe 9.
  • The practical usage of the designed solution is possible to be used on any railroad body.
