Description

The invention relates to a method for the production of filter cigarettes according to claim 1 or 2.

From DE 36 35 958 or US 4 807 647 a filter cigarette has become known in which the filter consists of two longitudinally aligned air-permeable components, with a common enclosure. The first component is intended to produce a relatively large pressure drop in the longitudinal direction of the filter, but to be substantially impermeable to air in the radial direction of the filter over its entire cross section. The second component should produce a relatively low pressure drop in the longitudinal direction of the filter, which should also be permeable to air in the radial direction. The components may abut one another or may also be spaced from one another, wherein ventilation of the filter should be ensured at a distance from the first component adjoining the tobacco rod, preferably through the chamber resulting from the distance between the filter components. In this area, the envelope is perforated, so that a better distribution of tobacco smoke over the entire cross section in the filter area is achieved with a reduction in the condensate and nicotine content, without the cigarette taste is adversely affected. The structure of the known cigarette is such that the one filter component has its own envelope and the common envelope at the same time represents the envelope for the second component. The latter is at the same time the envelope for the tobacco rod. The connection of the filter section with the tobacco rod takes place with the help of another wrapping, which covers the tobacco rod at the end facing a certain length. The production of such a filter cigarette is extremely complicated.

The invention has for its object to provide a method for producing a filter cigarette with substantially the components of the known filter cigarette, which can be carried out in a simple and effective manner and with the filter assembly can be varied in various ways in a simple manner.

This object is solved by the features of claims 1 and 2.

In the method according to the invention, an endless strand is generated from each filter material. The respective filter material is e.g. Acetate or carbon granules. From these endless strands first and second sections are separated with their wrapping of predetermined length. The length for both sections is e.g. or preferably the same. From the first and second sections, another endless strand is formed by sequentially strung the sections. The array is done with a predetermined distance from each other, according to an embodiment 3 to 6 cm, the series is continuously wrapped with another enclosure. For this further endless strand double filter sections are generated. Each double filter section has three sections, namely in the end regions a first section of half length and in the middle a second section of full length or vice versa.

In double-filter arrangements, in particular those containing carbon granules, it is customary to provide the other filter section, which consists for example of acetate or a paper filter, at the mouthpiece end. This is primarily aesthetic Establish. Therefore, the arrangement of the sections in the double filter section is such that the half-length end sections consist of the filter material intended to form the end of the mouthpiece. The double filter sections are then each arranged between two tobacco rods and connected to these and severed centrally. This is usually done on a corresponding drum of a cigarette-making machine.

With the aid of the method according to the invention, a distance between the filter parts can be generated in a simple manner to form a ventilation chamber of the desired length.

In the solution according to claim 2, the filter sections are arranged in shock to shock in the creation of the third endless strand, and in the connection with the tobacco rod, a corresponding chamber is generated by distance formation. The wrapping around the filter part can be perforated as desired. A geometrically defined perforation hole arrangement is not required.

  • Fig. 2 zeigt einen Verfahrensschritt nach der Erfindung.
An embodiment for carrying out the method according to the invention will be described in more detail with reference to drawings.
  • Fig. 1 shows in perspective a filter cigarette according to the prior art.
  • Fig. 2 shows a method step according to the invention.
  • Fig. 3 shows a section through a filter cigarette, which has been produced by the method according to the invention.

The filter cigarette 10 of FIG. 1 is composed of a tobacco rod 12 and a filter part 18. The tobacco rod consists of a tobacco rod section 14 which is surrounded by a Papierumhüllung 16. The filter part 18 consists of a first filter section 20 and a second filter section 22, which consist of different materials and are arranged at a distance from each other, whereby a distance results, which is indicated by the dashed line 24. The two filter sections 20, 22 are connected to the tobacco rod 12 by means of a common cover, which is indicated at 26.

In the method for producing the filter cigarette of the present invention, endless strands are produced from the filter material for the first and second filters as shown in Fig. 1 (not shown). The filter material may e.g. on the one hand consist of acetate or paper filter and on the other hand from carbon granules. Both are known. The endless strands are each provided with a suitable sheath, e.g. made of paper.

From the endless strands first and second sections of predetermined, preferably the same length are generated. This can be done in stages, for example by first sections of a length of 132 mm are generated, which are then subdivided into lengths of 44 mm, which then in turn once again separated into sections of 22 mm in length and then subsequently, as in Fig. 2 shown, alternated to another endless strand stringed together. The sections are designated 30 and 32 in FIG. As shown in Fig. 2, the sections 30, 32 are each lined up in pairs, with a gap of, for example, 3 to 6 mm is left between the sections. This gap is designated 34. This continuous strand is provided during its production with a sheath (not shown). The continuous strand is, as also indicated in Fig. 2, divided into double filter sections 36. Each double filter section is composed of a central portion 32 and end portions, which are formed by half the length of each section 30. The wrapped double filter sections 36 are placed between two tobacco sticks, particularly on a conventional drum of a cigarette making machine (not shown). After connection with the tobacco rods, the double filter sections 36 are severed in the middle, as indicated by the dot-dash line 38 in FIG. This results in filter sections 40, 42 each 11 mm in length (the sections 30, 32 have, as described, a length of 22 mm). The distance 34 has remained the same. The arrangement of the filter sections 40, 42 with the common enclosure 44 is then subsequently connected to a tobacco rod 46 by means of a further enclosure 48, which covers the tobacco rod at the end somewhat, as is known per se.

In Fig. 3, a further distance 50 is shown, which is formed between the filter section 42 and the tobacco rod 46. This is either alternatively formed to the distance 34 or together with this. Both distances 34, 50 each form a ventilation chamber for the smoke from the tobacco rod 46, whereby condensate and nicotine content is reduced. The casing 48 or the casing 44 can be perforated as desired in a known manner. The attachment of perforation holes in certain places is not required. The perforation of wrappings is also known per se.

The method described can be carried out with known machines for the production of filter cigarettes. A special equipment expense is not required.
