Description

The invention relates to a coin device with a light barrier according to claim 1.

It is known to arrange light barriers in several places in coin devices. As is known, a light barrier consists of a transmitting and a light-sensitive receiving element, and the receiving element registers when the light emitted by the transmitting element, for example a transmitting diode, is interrupted. Thus, such a light barrier z. B. be used as a presence sensor in a Münzprüfgerät.

Many Münzprüfgeräten a coin changer is assigned, which usually contains coin storage tubes, in which coins of lower values are sorted and from which coins are paid out as change. It is necessary for proper operation to monitor the level in coin tubes. On the one hand, a minimum level is determined as well as a maximum level. In the former case, it must be ensured that the operator of a machine is indicated that a change in the return is not possible (direct price). In the second case overfilling of the tube must be prevented in order to avoid jamming of the coins. It is also known to arrange a light barrier between the lower and upper end of a coin tube. The latter is used to correct the level in the tube if necessary, if the actually measured does not match the registered one. The sorting into one and the payout of coins from a coin tube is monitored by a tube counter. It may happen that this monitoring is faulty. It is therefore necessary to correct the number of coins respectively present in the memory of the coin processor processor.

In case of insufficient function of the transmitting element, such as a failure or a short circuit or other interference, this is evaluated by the receiving element as a cover by a coin or other object. The correction of tube counters therefore leads to incorrect values.

Out US 5,458,536 a circuit arrangement for activating and interrogating a plurality of light barriers for several coin tubes of a money changer has become known. The photosensitive elements of a coin tube are connected to a scan line, so that the number of scan lines corresponds to the number of coin tubes. The activation lines for the transmitter diode are connected so that all the light barriers of a level for all coin tubes are connected to a common activation line. In this way, a matrix-like control and interrogation of the light barriers is possible, which minimizes the circuit complexity.

Out EP 1 127 690 A a monitoring device for a printing press has become known. The monitoring device monitors, on the one hand, the voltage of the illuminated display and, on the other hand, the signal of the display control, whereby it is detected if, in spite of the signal of the display control, no display takes place and vice versa.

The invention is therefore based on the object to perform a coin device with a light barrier so that the function of the light barrier is monitored.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1.

In the light barrier according to the invention, the input of the transmitting diode is connected to a monitoring circuit, which in turn is connected to a control and evaluation circuit. The output signal of the photosensitive Receiving elements is not processed when the potential at the input of the transmitting diode is below or above a predetermined voltage band.

For energy saving reasons and to extend the service life, it is customary not to continuously apply voltage to the transmitting diodes of a light barrier in the case of coin validators, but only temporarily from time to time. For this purpose, an activation line is used, which optionally connects via a switching transistor, the transmitting diode to a voltage source. Only in this case does the transmitter diode emit light, for example in the infrared range. If the photosensitive receiving element is not covered, this outputs an output signal. In the other case, this outputs no or another output signal, which is processed accordingly in the control and evaluation circuit. If a short circuit occurs at the diode or an interruption, the potential at the input of the transmitter diode changes and is outside of a voltage band, which is normally maintained when the transmitter diode is operating properly.

If, as usual, used in a coin device, a plurality of photoelectric sensors, it is conceivable to provide a single monitoring circuit and to monitor by the latter in accordance with the activation of the transmitting diode, the respective light barrier.

In one embodiment of the invention, the invention is preferably applicable to coin devices which have a fill level measurement in coin tubes. With the help of the invention, errors in the correction of a tube counter can therefore be effectively avoided.

Another application provides according to the invention that the light barrier is used for diameter determination in a coin validator.

Finally, it is also conceivable to apply the monitoring circuit in the coin device according to the invention in a light barrier for detecting the end position of a motor, which accomplishes the output of coins from the coin tubes.

An embodiment of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to a drawing.

The sole figure shows a circuit example of a coin device according to the invention.

In the figure, a light barrier is shown, consisting of a light emitting diode D1, the z. B. emits infrared light, and a photosensitive receiving element T1, a transistor. Such a light barrier is z. B. provided on a coin tube of a coin changer for a coin device for detecting the level of the coins in the coin tube. Usually, each coin tube has two or three such light barriers. However, it is also conceivable to provide such a light barrier for determining the presence of all coins in a coin device or for determining the end position of a motor for a payout device from a coin tube or the like.

Such photocells are not permanently switched on, but periodically. The switching on via a switching transistor T2, which is connected via a resistor and with an activation line A1. The activation line is connected to a suitable voltage source. This applies to the diode D1 a voltage U1, wherein a part of the voltage across the resistor W2 drops. The photosensitive transistor is connected to an output line Q1, which leads to a control and evaluation device, not shown. The control and evaluation circuit queries the line Q1 in time with the activation of the diode D1, to determine if the path between diode D1 and transistor is free or interrupted by an object.

With a point between the resistor W2 and the anode of the diode D1, a control and evaluation circuit AW is connected. This determines the potential at the said point, which, with the diode D1 intact, moves within a certain bandwidth. If, on the other hand, a potential lying above or below this bandwidth is measured during the activation of the diode D1, a corresponding signal is output via a line Q2 which is connected to the control and evaluation circuit. This signal ensures that the output signal of the transistor is not evaluated because it may be a false signal. Is z. B. no obstacle in the light barrier, but if a signal is emitted by the transistor, which corresponds to the presence of an obstacle, a false signal would be emitted. For example, a level would be displayed for a coin tube that does not actually exist.
