Description

The invention relates to a plastic bottle according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

The usual in the past containers made of white or stained, glass or ceramic are increasingly being replaced by plastic containers. In particular, for the packaging of fluid substances, such as drinks, oil, cleaning utensils, cosmetics, etc., mainly plastic containers, in particular plastic bottles are used. The low weight and the lower costs play a significant role in this substitution. The use of recyclable plastic materials and the overall more favorable overall energy balance in their production also contribute to the consumer's acceptance of plastic containers, in particular of plastic bottles.

Plastic bottles have a bottle body, which is equipped with a bottleneck with a pouring opening. To the bottle body, which usually has a regular, preferably circular or oval cross-sectional area, includes a bottom part. The bottom part comprises a bottle bottom, which closes off the bottle body and preferably a number of feet, which are separated by indentations in the bottle wall. Plastic bottles with feet have compared to bottles, the bottom part of which only covers the bottom of the bottle in general to a greater tipping stability. The usually flat bottle bottom can bulge due to the weight of the bottle contents. As a result, the radius of the support area decreases, and the bottle can fall over easily. The formation of feet in the bottom part reinforces the bottom part to a certain extent and ensures a constant radius of the support area.

The known from the prior art bottles usually have a flat bottle bottom, in which there is a risk that it bulges outwards especially at an elevated internal pressure. The feet are separated by relatively long axial indentations of the bottle wall, which extend to the bottom of the bottle. From the contact area of the feet approximately trapezoidal trained wall parts extend obliquely to the bottom of the bottle, which is set back axially relative to the support area. The size of the indentations is necessary to give the bottom of the bottle the required rigidity so that it can not be dented by the weight and internal pressure of the bottle contents. On the other hand, the indentations take up a relatively large amount of space axially and reduce the area available for labeling. This can be particularly difficult for plastic bottles whose height is set by standards. In addition, the high legs at the consumer often give little confidence in the stability of the bottle.

In JP 03 063114 A various embodiments of bottle bottoms are described. In addition to those with a convex, outward curvature and relatively long feet and bottle bottoms are described in which the bottle wall merges into an annular base with an inwardly curved bottom. One of the illustrations seems to show a bottle which has several feet and a bottle bottom with an inward curvature. The apex height of the curvature is significantly greater than an axial extent of the feet separating areas.

A likewise describes different embodiments of bottle bottoms. The majority of the bottle bottoms described has a convexly outward curvature, which merges on one side of the bottle in the bottle wall and on the diametrically opposite side of the bottle in a stand feet. Another embodiment variant has a stepped inwardly curved bottle bottom with a central, inner curvature. This bottle bottom is equipped with relatively long feet, which are separated by indentations whose axial extent is significantly greater than an axial height of the inner curvature.

In WO 02/085755 A a bottle bottom is described, which has a first annular roof section, on which an inwardly directed dome is placed centrally. In the edge region, the bottle wall goes into feet feet, which are separated by indentations. The axial height of the recesses is greater than the axial height of the annular roof section or the central dome. The discontinuously formed bottle bottom is flexible, so that a build-up in the bottle over or under pressure can be compensated by a deformation of the bottle bottom.

The object of the present invention is to avoid these disadvantages of the prior art. It is a plastic bottle to be created, which has a sufficiently high stability, especially tipping stability. The space available for labeling should be optimized; In particular, a sufficiently large area for the attachment of a label should be provided even with less high bottles, for example, 0.33 1 bottles with standardized height. At the same time, the plastic bottle should have an appealing appearance and give consumers confidence in their stability.

The solution to these problems consists in a plastic bottle having the features mentioned in the characterizing portion of claim 1. Further developments and / or advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

The invention proposes a plastic bottle with a bottle body and an adjoining bottom part, which comprises a bottle bottom closing the bottle and indentations in the bottle wall separate feet before, in which the bottle bottom has a directed into the bottle interior buckle and the axial extent of the Stand legs separating indentations is substantially equal to or smaller than the axial peak height of the curvature of the bottle bottom. The bottom of the bottle is provided with reinforcing ribs. The reinforcing ribs additionally increase the rigidity of the inwardly curved bottle bottom. As a result, the bottle bottom can be formed with a smaller wall thickness. This has advantages in terms of the inherent weight of the plastic bottle and, because of the reduced material requirements, also has an advantageous effect on the production costs.

The inward curvature of the bottom of the bottle gives it sufficient rigidity to sufficiently withstand the weight of the contents of the bottle and the internal pressure of, for example, CO 2 -containing drinks. The greater stiffness of the bottle bottom with comparable wall thickness also makes it possible to form the indentations between the feet less pronounced. It proves to be a convenient compromise between an additional stiffening and the space required when the axial extent of the indentations in the bottle wall is equal to or less than the axial peak height of the curvature of the bottle bottom. The indentations occupy significantly less space than in the plastic bottles of the prior art. As a result, a larger, continuous area is available for the labeling of the bottle. The smaller indentations lead in the bottom part, in particular in the contact area of the feet to a more favorable distribution of the pressure load by the weight of the bottle contents, which has an advantageous effect on the stability of the plastic bottle.

In an embodiment of the invention which is advantageous for reasons of rigidity and stability, the curvature of the bottle bottom is substantially dome-shaped. In this case, it has a radius of curvature which is about half of the radius to about twice the contact area of the feet.

Although the plastic bottle can in principle have any desired cross-section. For reasons of symmetry, however, plastic bottles whose bottom part has a regular, preferably circular or even oval cross section are preferred. These generally have a better stability and are usually cheaper to manufacture.

For the determination of a stable footprint known in principle three feet are sufficient. However, it proves advantageous if the bottom part has at least five feet, which are each separated by indentations. The indentations increase the strength of the bottom part and increase the area on which the weight of the bottle contents acts.

Preferably, the reinforcing ribs are provided in the region of the feet. In this case, each stand has at least one reinforcing rib, which extends from the contact area of the stand substantially radially in the direction of the vertex of the bottle bottom. By the reinforcing ribs preferably protrude from the outer wall of the bottle bottom, no filling volume is lost by the ribs.

The plastic bottle according to the invention is suitable for production with all conventional fabrication methods. A mass-production process which is particularly advantageous for cost reasons and because of the good controllability of the bottle parameters represents the injection stretch blow molding method or, respectively, in English Injection Stretch Blow Molding ISBM.

The bottom part 6 comprises a bottle bottom 7, which closes off the bottle body 2 and a number of feet 8, by indentations 9 in the bottle wall are separated from each other. As far as corresponds to the plastic bottle 1 known from the prior art bottles of this type.

In contrast to the products of the prior art, the bottle bottom 7 is arched into the interior of the bottle in the case of the plastic bottle formed according to the invention. This can be seen in particular from the sectional view in FIG. 4. The curvature of the bottle bottom 7 is formed substantially dome-shaped. The curvature has a radius of curvature r, which may have about half to about twice the radius s of the support area of the feet 8. In the illustrated embodiment, the radius of curvature r of the curvature is about 1.2 times greater than the radius s of the support area. The radius of the support area refers to the farthest from the bottle axis contact line of the feet 8 with the ground. The recesses 9 in the bottle wall have an axial length 1, which is equal to or smaller than the peak height h of the curvature of the bottle bottom. 7

According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the bottom part 6 of the plastic bottle on six feet 8, which are separated from as many recesses 9 from each other. As is known, three feet 8 would be sufficient to allow the bottle to be set up. For reasons of stability, however, it proves to be advantageous if at least five feet 8 are provided. Each stand 8 has a reinforcing rib 10, which extends from the contact area of the stand 8 substantially radially in the direction of the vertex of the bottle bottom 7. The reinforcing ribs 10 increase the rigidity of the inwardly curved bottle bottom 7 even more. In this case, the Vertärkungsrippen 10 extend beyond the outside of the flat bottom 7. The indentations 9 have in the contact area of the feet 8 an opening width, for example, equal to or less than the width of the feet 8 in this area. The recesses 9 of the illustrated embodiment have a measured from the support area of the feet 8 at extension t, which is about one third of the extension of the bottle bottom 7 in the radial direction.
