Abstract

In a secondary battery with an electrode body stored in a battery can comprising a bottomed cylinder with a sealed opening, and a collector plate (50) installed at the end of the electrode body, the collector plate (50) has projections (52) that are radially arranged and bonded to the end of the electrode body. The bonding face between the collector plate (50) and the bottom of the bottomed cylinder has a flat region (R) circulating on a predetermined closed-loop orbit over the bonding face. The bonding face between the collector plate (50) and the bottomed cylinder is laser-welded along the flat region (R) from outside the bottomed cylinder. Thus, a high collection performance is obtained, and the cylinder is not perforated during the welding of the collector plate to the bottom of the bottomed cylinder during the manufacture process.
