At least two air-pressure sensors (1-3) are positioned in the vicinity of the smoke detector (7) which detect air-pressure differences occurring on the basis of a cover of the smoke detector (7) and/or of the protective grating (6), and an evaluating- and display-device is subordinated to the air-pressure sensors for determining and displaying the obstacles restricting the functioning of the smoke detector (7).

Description

The invention relates to a device for the visual inspection of a smoke detector arranged in an aircraft, which preferably finds application in the exhaust duct of an aircraft toilet, the smoke detector by obstacles, in particular covers, adhesives or the like, at its inlet opening or on a protective grille provided in its function restricted or prevented.

At present, in all aircraft which must be equipped with smoke alarms, it is necessary to have regular visual inspections of the smoke sensors by the flight crew in the accessible areas such as toilets, crew rest rooms or the like. This takes place on long-haul flights approximately every 15 minutes and means that a check is made as to whether the smoke detectors or associated ventilation entrances are glued or covered. It is thus so far determined by a pure visual inspection, whether smoke detectors in the aircraft existing obstacles are covered or delivered and thus only a limited or no function of smoke detectors is given. In areas where unfiltered air is used, such blockages can disadvantageously build up very quickly.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a device of the type mentioned, by which a permanent monitoring of smoke detectors with regard to any blockages or tampering is automatically enabled.

The object is achieved in that at least two air pressure sensors are arranged in the vicinity of the smoke detector, which detect due to a cover of the smoke detector and / or the protective grid occurring air pressure differences, and that the air pressure sensors an evaluation and display device for detection and display of the smoke detector subordinate in its function limiting obstacles.

Inventive developments of the device are described in the subclaims 2 to 10.

Advantageously, a technical possibility is realized which allows to permanently determine that a detection of smoke in an aircraft is restricted or prevented by a blockage of the smoke detectors. An essential advantage of the invention is also that by actuation periods a false reaction in the case of short-term pressure fluctuations, such. B. in the case of a vacuum toilet can be prevented. A Detected blockage of a smoke detector can be displayed in an advantageous manner locally, in the aircraft cabin or outside the affected area or be communicated to a central maintenance system.

Fig. 1:
Fig. 2:
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown, namely shows:
Fig. 1:
a smoke detector arranged in an aircraft toilet, to which a total of three air pressure sensors are assigned,
and
Fig. 2:
a smoke detector with two air pressure sensors and a pipe system, wherein a pipe of the system of the smoke inlet opening and a further tube of the smoke outlet opening of the smoke detector is assigned.

In Fig. 1, a toilet room 4 in a drawing aircraft not shown on a ceiling 5, in which a protective grid 6 is incorporated. Above the protective grille 6 and the ceiling 5, a smoke detector 7 is attached with associated smoke inlet opening 7a, on the inner wall 8a of a suction hood 8 an exhaust duct 9 of the toilet room 4. In the vicinity of the smoke detector 7 are a total of three air pressure sensors 1, 2 and 3, of which the first in the toilet room 4, the second is arranged on the inner wall 8a of the suction hood 8 and the third in the smoke detector 7.

In each case two of the air pressure sensors 1, 2 or 3 detect air pressure differences due to a cover of the smoke detector 7, in particular its smoke inlet opening 7a, and / or the Protective grid 6 occur, which may be bonds or the like. In order to recognize these obstacles, which limit or even prevent the smoke detector 7, the air pressure sensors 1, 2 and 3 an evaluation and display device for detecting and displaying the smoke detector 7 in its function restricting obstacles downstream. For example, an obstacle on the upstream of the smoke detector 7 protective grille 6 is determined by the front of the inlet opening 7a of the smoke detector 7 arranged air pressure sensor 2 and the air pressure sensor 1 located in the monitored space. Such an obstacle can also be determined by the air pressure sensor 3 arranged in the smoke detector 7 and the air pressure sensor 1 located in the monitored space 4. On the other hand, an obstacle blocking the inlet opening 7a of the smoke detector 7 is determined by the air pressure sensor 3 arranged in the monitored space 4 and the air pressure sensor 2 arranged upstream of the inlet opening 7a of the smoke detector 7.

The smoke detector 7 shown in Fig. 2, in addition to its smoke inlet opening 7a and a smoke outlet opening 7b. Both openings are preceded by a tube, namely the smoke inlet opening 7a, the tube 10 and the smoke outlet opening 7b the tube 11. While the tube 11 is a normal smoke outlet tube with two frontal openings, the tube 10 is additionally provided with a plurality of holes provided in its tube wall, through which a smoke inlet into the tube is made possible transverse to its tube wall. Through a, the pipes 10 and 11 containing pipe system is the smoke detector 7 via its smoke inlet 7a a Smoke volume supplied, which is substantially increased over the apparent from Fig. 1 smoke detector 7. If the tube 10 is blocked by covers, gluing or the like, this circumstance can be determined by the forming air pressure difference with the air pressure sensors 1 and 2 in the manner described above.

The device is also intended for use in an aircraft cargo hold to detect and prevent charge delivered smoke detectors 7.
