Description

The invention relates to the field of automatic payment devices, terminal type, terminal, time stamp, made available to the public and more particularly the protection of these devices against fraudulent attacks.

Being isolated and able to contain money, these payment devices are susceptible to attacks both on the device itself and its means of communication and must therefore be equipped with deterrents.

In general, these deterrents must have the function of detecting a possible attack and of signaling the attack.

We already know public payment terminals intended to be installed in the streets of a city and having deterrents against attacks.

Each of these known terminals has a connection to the telephone network and means for detecting a possible attack.

When an attack is perpetrated against one of these terminals, it dials the telephone number of a central surveillance and sends an alert.

These known terminals have a number of disadvantages.

En effet, l'existence d'un tel moyen d'alerte étant connue, les fraudeurs tendent à couper toute communication entre la borne et le central de surveillance en utilisant des dispositifs adaptés tels que des dispositifs de brouillage des signaux GSM.Indeed, the existence of such a means of alert being known, fraudsters tend to cut any communication between the terminal and the central monitoring using suitable devices such as scrambling devices GSM signals.

The object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art by providing a deterrent solution against terminal attacks that is both reliable and inexpensive.

According to a first object of the invention, it relates to a method of monitoring a plurality of terminals, in particular time stamps, in which at least first and second terminals are equipped with communication means allowing said first and second terminals to communicate with each other and with a central monitoring.

According to a general definition of the invention, the method comprises a monitoring protocol according to which the first and second terminals must be called, preferably mutually and at a predetermined rate, and in the absence of a call and / or nonresponse from the second terminal, said first terminal is able to call the central monitoring to inform him of the abnormal situation concerning the second terminal.

The implementation of this method causes each of the terminals to monitor its neighbors and to be itself monitored by its neighbors.

At the level of the terminal park, internal monitoring therefore takes place without the intervention of the central monitoring station.

This monitoring takes place using inter-terminal communications that do not require telecommunication operator fees.

A telephone call to the central monitoring station is triggered only when an anomaly has actually occurred, that is to say when one of the terminals detects the absence of response from one of its neighbors or well when one of the terminals detects an attempted attack against it.

According to another embodiment, the monitoring protocol also comprises a step according to which each of the terminals reports a possible fraudulent attack against it by directly contacting the central monitoring station or by contacting a neighboring terminal which will be in charge of contacting the central office. monitoring.

On the other hand, the communications between the terminals can be carried out by means of a radio local area network.

In addition, communications between a terminal and the central monitoring can be performed through a telephone network open to the public.

According to a second object of the invention, it relates to a device for monitoring a plurality of terminals, in particular time stamps, of the type comprising at least first and second terminals neighboring one another and equipped with communication means allowing said first and second terminals to communicate with each other and with a central monitoring station, the first and second terminals to mutually call each other at a selected rate and the device comprising monitoring means housed in at least the first terminal and suitable in case of absence of call and / or non-response from the second terminal to call the central monitoring to inform him of the abnormal situation concerning the second terminal.

The invention also relates to a terminal comprising communication means for communicating with at least one second terminal and with a central monitoring and control means ensuring the transmission of calls to said second terminal and means of monitoring able in case of absence of call and / or non-response from the second terminal to call the central monitoring (4) to inform him of the abnormal situation concerning the second terminal.

Selon un autre mode de réalisation, ledit terminal doit appeler au moins un terminal voisin à une cadence choisieAccording to another embodiment, said terminal must call at least one neighboring terminal at a chosen rate.

According to another particular embodiment, the terminal further comprises means for detecting fraudulent attacks and is able to signal a possible attack against it by directly contacting the central surveillance or by contacting a neighboring terminal which will contact the central surveillance.

The means enabling said terminal to communicate with the other terminals may comprise a transceiver radio device.

The means for said terminal to communicate with the central monitoring may include connection means to a telephone network open to the public.

  • la figure 1 représente une paire d'horodateurs et un central de surveillance, un premier horodateur recevant un appel d'un second horodateur ;
Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge in the light of the description given below and the drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a pair of time stamps and a monitoring station, a first time clock receiving a call from a second time stamp;
  • Figure 2 shows a pair of timestamps and a monitoring center, a first time stamp making a call to a second time stamp.

The assembly represented in FIGS. 1 and 2 is composed of a fleet of parking meters reduced to a minimum for the sake of clarity (two parking meters 1, 2 only), a telephone network 3 and a monitoring station schematized by a microcomputer 4.

In the example described, the telephone network 3 is a wireless network such as the European GSM network but can be any communication network, for example open to the public such as the RTC wired network and the like.

Le central de surveillance 4 dispose de moyens de traitement informatique reliés au réseau téléphonique 3 et aptes à recevoir et traiter des appels provenant d'un horodateur 1 ;2.The monitoring station 4 has computer processing means connected to the telephone network 3 and able to receive and process calls from a time stamp 1; 2.

The timestamps 1, 2 component park are equipped with information processing computer means and are also equipped with means of connection to the telephone network 3 able to call the central monitoring 4 and send him an alert signal.

The warning signal is presented as a binary code developed by the computer equipment of a time clock 1; 2 and transmitted in modulated form via the telephone network 3 to the central monitoring station 4.

Upon receiving the alert signal, the monitoring station 4 demodulates the received signal to obtain the initial binary code and identifies it as an alert signal.

It is necessary for this purpose to establish beforehand a communication protocol between the central office 4 and the timestamps 1, 2 to define the binary code corresponding to an alert signal.

In the same manner, other codes corresponding to other information that could be transmitted between the central monitoring station 4 and the time stamps 1, 2 can be defined.

The time stamps 1, 2 are furthermore equipped with radio transmission means making each time stamp capable of communicating with all the pay and display machines located in the coverage area of its transmission means.

For example, the transmission means consist of network cards meeting the IEEE 802.111b wireless transmission standards enabling the pay and display machines to communicate with each other by using the TCP / IP protocol, such a protocol is given only as illustrative and not limiting of the present invention. The communication between the time stamps is preferably carried out using a wireless local loop (WLL) type network, that is to say a wireless radio network. Different ranges of frequencies are usable and in particular the infrared frequencies, protocol Blue Tooth for example. The interest of such a mode of communication is that it is free.

The assembly that has just been described operates in the manner indicated below.

The parking meters park 1, 2 is installed in the streets of a city so that each is in the area of coverage of the electromagnetic transmission means of at least one other time stamp.

In normal operation, each parking meter contacts at least its nearest neighbor whose coordinates were previously communicated to verify that it works well and is, therefore, himself contacted by his neighbors.

As for the communication with the central monitoring 4, it is necessary to define a protocol by which the timestamps mutually check their proper operation.

For these purposes, a call code and a confirmation code are defined. When contacting one of its neighbors, each time stamp sends the call code and waits for the confirmation code to consider that the contacted time stamp is functioning correctly.

Therefore, each time stamp must also send the confirmation code to each of the time stamps requesting it by sending the call code.

Moreover, and in order to limit energy consumption, only the radio transmission means are powered during standby periods, thus ensuring the functions of mutual verification of terminals without energy expenditure which is not absolutely necessary.

La figure 1 représente un horodateur 2 effectuant un envoi du code d'appel vers un horodateur 1 voisin et la figure 2 représente une situation similaire, l'horodateur 1 envoyant cette fois-ci le code de confirmation en réponse à l'horodateur 2.FIG. 1 represents a time stamp 2 sending the call code to a neighboring time clock 1 and FIG. 2 represents a similar situation, the time stamp 1 sending this time the confirmation code in response to the time stamp 2.

In the case where the time stamp 2 is faulty, the sending of the call code illustrated in FIG. 1 does not occur and the time stamp 1, which periodically waits for the call code from the pay and display machine 2. , detects the silence of this time stamp 2 and interprets this as a failure of the time stamp 2.

The time stamp 1 then phones the central monitoring 4 and transmits the alert code identifying the date stamp 2 remained silent.

De même, dans le cas où l'horodateur 1 est cette fois-ci défaillant, l'envoi du code de confirmation illustré à la figure 2 ne se produit pas et l'horodateur 2, qui attend le code de confirmation de la part de l'horodateur 1, détecte le silence de cet horodateur 1 et interprète cela comme une défaillance de l'horodateur 1.Similarly, in the case where the time stamp 1 is this time failing, the sending of the confirmation code illustrated in Figure 2 does not occur and the time stamp 2, waiting for the confirmation code from the timestamp 1, detects the silence of this timestamp 1 and interprets this as a failure of the timestamp 1.

The time stamp 2 then calls to the monitoring station 4 and transmits the alert code identifying the time stamp 1 remained silent.

On the other hand, each time stamp is also equipped with attack detection means able to detect physical attacks such as a set of sensors arranged on the components of the time stamp and also able to detect attacks on its communication channels. such as computer security devices reporting an attempt to electromagnetic interference or fraudulent connection to the computer equipment of the time stamp.

In the case where a time stamp detects such an attack on itself, this time stamp has the possibility on the one hand to call himself the monitoring station 4 to declare himself the victim of an attack or else to transmit an alert signal to one of his neighbors who will contact the central monitoring.

These possibilities can be used in combination for maximum security, the monitoring station 4 being alerted even if one of the two means of communication of the attacked time stamp is disabled by the attack.

  • une réduction des coûts de fonctionnement d'un parc d'horodateurs par la limitation au strict nécessaire des appels payants vers le central de surveillance et l'utilisation alternative des communications inter-terminaux, celles-ci étant sans frais dans la mesure où elles ne font pas intervenir d'opérateur téléphonique ;
  • les attaques ciblées sur les moyens de communications des horodateurs sont également détectées ;
  • les dépenses en énergie des terminaux sont minimisées par l'alimentation sélective des composants autorisant la mise en service uniquement des moyens de transmission inter-terminaux pendant les périodes de veille;
The implementation of the invention makes it possible to obtain the following advantages:
  • a reduction in the operating costs of a parking meter park by limiting the need for pay calls to the central monitoring station and the alternative use of inter-terminal calls, which are free of charge insofar as they do not do not involve a telephone operator;
  • targeted attacks on the means of communication of pay and display machines are also detected;
  • the energy expenditure of the terminals is minimized by the selective power supply of the components allowing only inter-terminal transmission means to be put into service during the waking periods;
  • an almost immediate response to attacks, each terminal can itself report an attack against him.
