Description
PROCEDE DE FABRICATION D'UNE AIGUILLE A SUTURER A CHAS UNIQUE METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A SINGLE NEEDLE SUTURING NEEDLE
DESCRIPTIONDESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a new and original method for manufacturing a surgical needle intended for holding, by crimping, a suture thread; said needle being of the type comprising a point, a body and an eye provided with an axial hole of diameter and depth adapted to contain the end of the suture to be crimped.
L'invention concerne également l'aiguille obtenue par la mise en œuvre dudit procédéThe invention also relates to the needle obtained by the implementation of said method
Les aiguilles chirurgicales à suturer connues sont de deux types liés à leur forme qui est soit courbe, soit droite : - les aiguilles courbes représentent plus de 90% des ventes et sont plus particulièrement destinées à un usage interne ;Known surgical suturing needles are of two types linked to their shape which is either curved or straight: - curved needles represent more than 90% of sales and are more particularly intended for internal use;
They also belong to two families linked to their section which is either round or triangular:
- les aiguilles rondes sont utilisées lorsque l'étanchéité de la suture est exigée (artères, veines) ;- round needles are used when tightness of the suture is required (arteries, veins);
The diameter of the needles generally varies from 0.24 to 1.57 mm and their length varies respectively from 8.5 to 100 mm.
Le diamètre des trous axiaux varie généralement, en fonction des diamètres des aiguilles, de 0,10 à 1 mm et leur profondeur varie respectivement de 0,30 à 3 mm.The diameter of the axial holes generally varies, depending on the diameters of the needles, from 0.10 to 1 mm and their depth varies respectively from 0.30 to 3 mm.
Pour une aiguille de diamètre donné, il existe plusieurs diamètres de trous axiaux en fonction :For a needle of given diameter, there are several diameters of axial holes according to:
- du diamètre et de la nature du fil de suture ;- the diameter and the nature of the suture;
An average of ten different holes are drilled per needle diameter, resulting in a large number of references and a large stock. The needles in question are entirely made of martensitic type steel which is subjected to a heat treatment (soaking) after drilling the eye.
Their crimping capacity (function of ductility) is reduced by the very nature of the steel used (risk of cracking). It is therefore not possible to carry out single-eyed needles for all of the sutures intended to be crimped onto a needle of a given diameter.
The closest prior art is essentially described in the following documents: - US-5403345 which describes a surgical needle, with a single eye, with crimped suture, which is essentially characterized in the conical shape of its eye which can allow the fixation of a range of sutures of different diameters with a deformation of the diameter of the area to be crimped of about 10 to 20%; the eye is obtained by mechanical drilling; US-3394704 which describes a surgical needle, with glued suture, which is characterized in that the area of the eye undergoes heat treatment so as to prevent it from cracking during crimping; the heat treatment is carried out in order to obtain better mechanical retention of the suture, to avoid damaging it and to allow greater manufacturing tolerances. The invention therefore aims to produce a surgical needle, with a single eye for the full range of diameters of sutures intended to equip a surgical needle of well-defined diameter, the aims of which are pursued, the means used and the results obtained are totally different from those taught in the known state of the art. The method according to the invention is essentially characterized in that it consists in carrying out, on a surgical needle, entirely made of steel of the austenitic type, in the area of the eye, a local heat treatment suitable for:
- d'une part, permettre le forage mécanique du trou axial, cylindrique, dont le diamètre, unique, est déterminé en fonction du diamètre de l'aiguille et du diamètre du fil de suture de plus gros diamètre appartenant à la gamme complète de fils de suture destinés à équiper une aiguille de diamètre donné : le forage mécanique n'étant pas possible dans ce type d'acier sans un traitement thermique approprié ;- on the one hand, allow the mechanical drilling of the axial, cylindrical hole, the diameter of which, unique, is determined as a function of the diameter of the needle and the diameter of the suture of larger diameter belonging to the full range of threads sutures intended to equip a needle of given diameter: mechanical drilling is not possible in this type of steel without an appropriate heat treatment;
- d'autre part, obtenir une ductilité permettant une diminution, par écrasement lors du sertissage et ce sans fissuration, du diamètre initial du trou axial, au moins égale à 50% : avec les aciers du type martensitique on ne dépasse pas les 25%.- on the other hand, obtaining a ductility allowing a reduction, by crushing during crimping and this without cracking, of the initial diameter of the axial hole, at least equal to 50%: with steels of the martensitic type it does not exceed 25% .
The needle obtained by the implementation of said method is essentially characterized in that it comprises an eye provided with an axial, cylindrical hole, the diameter and the depth of which are unique for the full range of diameters of the sutures intended to equip a needle with a well-defined diameter. The characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the detailed description which follows of at least one preferred embodiment of the latter given by way of nonlimiting example and represented in the appended drawing (FIG. single) which is a side view of a needle and the suture intended to be crimped there.
The assembly shown comprises a surgical needle (1), of diameter (D1), intended to hold, by crimping, a suture thread (2) of diameter (D3). It comprises a point (1A), a body (1B) and an eye (1C) provided with an axial hole (3), of diameter (D2) and of depth (P), adapted to contain the end (2A) suture thread (2) to be crimped.
The method of manufacturing the surgical needle according to the invention consists in carrying out, on said needle (1), which is entirely made of steel of the austenitic type, only in the area of the eye (1C), a heat treatment suitable for: - on the one hand, allow the mechanical drilling of the axial hole (3) whose diameter (D2), unique, is determined as a function of the diameter (D1) of the needle (1) and the diameter (D3) of the wire suture (2) of larger diameter belonging to the full range of suture threads intended to equip a needle of given diameter (D1); - on the other hand, obtaining a ductility allowing a reduction, by crushing during crimping, of the initial diameter (D2) of the axial hole (3) of depth (P), at least equal to 50%.
This ductility is obtained for a "Vickers" hardness of the austenitic steel between 280 and 380 Hv and more restrictively between 300 and 340 Hv. Said heat treatment consists in subjecting said zone (1C) to a temperature of between 850 and 1000 ° C for a period of between 0.3 and 1 second. The heat source used to carry out said heat treatment of said zone (1C) is by laser radiation (precision, instantaneousness, molecular aspect). The surgical needle to be sutured obtained by the implementation of said method comprises an eye (1 C) provided with an axial hole (3) whose diameter (D2) is unique for the full range of diameters (D3) of suture (2) intended to equip a needle of given diameter (D1).
Said axial hole (3) also has a depth (P) unique for said range of sutures (2). The diameter (D1) of the needle can vary from 0.24 to 1.57 mm. The diameter (D2) of the axial hole (3) of the eye (1C) can vary from 0.12 to 1.04 mm. An experiment was carried out with a needle with an outside diameter of 0.56 mm and a drilling diameter of 0.36 mm. After a suitable heat treatment, it was observed, after crimping, a reduction of 32% in the outside diameter and 69% in the drilling diameter, resulting in an increase in the thickness and length of the eye (principle of conservation of the material).
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown for which other variants can be provided, in particular in:
