Abstract

  • 1. A method and apparatus for the removal of odorous gases from a sewer network.
  • 2.1. The invention is based on the object to develop a generic method and a corresponding device, are localized in the odor nuisance both taking into account the local conditions of the sewer network and the maintenance of the necessary air circulation.
  • 2.2. This is achieved by causing the odorous gases within the sewer network to flow, bringing the individual flows together and directing them to at least one selected sewer manhole. For this purpose, the closure plate (6) of each sewer manhole is equipped with an adjustable throttle valve. The throttle valve expediently consists of a multiplicity of loose, nested shaped particles (16).
  • 2.3. Such methods and the corresponding devices are mostly used by the municipal wastewater management but also by wastewater producing companies to reduce odor nuisance by uncontrolled leakage of odorous gases from the shafts of the sewer network.
