Definitions
- the present invention relates to a boxing trainer.
- the conventional boxing trainers belongs to "in-place" devices (i.e. punching bag) for boxing training.
- the punching bag is suspended so that it swings to-and-fro by being punched with fists of operators. Therefore, the operator has to watch its swinging position and speed to give the next punching so as to achieve a certain training effect.
- both boxers duly dodge in accordance with the punching position and timing of the opponent.
- the attacking side has to grasp the attack opportunity unlike the easy practice on the punching bag.
- US 5 803 877 A discloses a programmable sparing partner.
- the Programmable Sparing partner includes a punching bag, a motion control means, and a support means. It is suspended from an over head mounting means and further has a horizontal and vertical motion means which when taken together simulate the evasive action taken by an opposing boxer.
- the interactive boxing trainer comprises a driving unit; a main frame having a longitudinal slide rail, a lateral slide rail and a punchable body, said punchable body being driven by said driving unit and movable on said longitudinal slide rail and said lateral slide rail; a pair of boxing gloves each having a glove signal transmitter; and a control unit being in connection with a plurality of signal receivers provided at the upper and lower part of said main frame so as to receive signals sent by said glove signal transmitters; so that the position, speed and travelling path of said boxing gloves can be detected and processed by said control unit which is configured such that it can command said driving unit to move said punchable body away from said approaching boxing gloves.
- the instant shift of the automatic driving unit will keep the punchable body away from the approaching boxing gloves. Therefore, the boxer learns special skills (rapid movement of the feet, rapid punching of the fists, continuous punching, deceiving punching or punching according to the movement direction of the punchable body) before or during punching so as to exactly strike the punchable body.
- the trainee won't be injured by counterattack, and he can make practice without the time restriction.

Description
- The present invention relates to a boxing trainer.
- The conventional boxing trainers belongs to "in-place" devices (i.e. punching bag) for boxing training. The punching bag is suspended so that it swings to-and-fro by being punched with fists of operators. Therefore, the operator has to watch its swinging position and speed to give the next punching so as to achieve a certain training effect. In practice of the basic boxing defence, both boxers duly dodge in accordance with the punching position and timing of the opponent. However, the attacking side has to grasp the attack opportunity unlike the easy practice on the punching bag.
- In order to carry out "interactive practice" to command the punching timing and skills, all boxers have to employ one of their calibre to simulate the boxing match.
- In consideration of many objective factors such as expenses, time, possible injuries, it's rare for common boxers to employ the so-called "interactive practice". Particularly, the beginners can hardly command the basic punching timing and boxing skills without the interactive practice, let alone imagine the real situation in the boxing match beforehand.
- US 5 803 877 A discloses a programmable sparing partner. The Programmable Sparing partner includes a punching bag, a motion control means, and a support means. It is suspended from an over head mounting means and further has a horizontal and vertical motion means which when taken together simulate the evasive action taken by an opposing boxer.
- It is a primary object of the present invention to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks and to provide an interactive boxing trainer which utilises the modern technique of automatic detection and automatic control for command of the position, the speed and the travelling path of the boxing gloves.
- This object is solved by the features described in claim 1.
- According to the invention, the interactive boxing trainer comprises a driving unit; a main frame having a longitudinal slide rail, a lateral slide rail and a punchable body, said punchable body being driven by said driving unit and movable on said longitudinal slide rail and said lateral slide rail; a pair of boxing gloves each having a glove signal transmitter; and a control unit being in connection with a plurality of signal receivers provided at the upper and lower part of said main frame so as to receive signals sent by said glove signal transmitters; so that the position, speed and travelling path of said boxing gloves can be detected and processed by said control unit which is configured such that it can command said driving unit to move said punchable body away from said approaching boxing gloves.
- Advantageously, the instant shift of the automatic driving unit will keep the punchable body away from the approaching boxing gloves. Therefore, the boxer learns special skills (rapid movement of the feet, rapid punching of the fists, continuous punching, deceiving punching or punching according to the movement direction of the punchable body) before or during punching so as to exactly strike the punchable body.
- Compared to a conventional boxing training, the punching difficulty is increased and the punching skills are achieved.
- In contrast to the interactive practice, the trainee won't be injured by counterattack, and he can make practice without the time restriction.
- In a preferred embodiment, the interactive boxing trainer further comprises: a pair of boxing shoes each having a shoe signal transmitter, wherein said control unit is configured such that it can receive signals sent by said shoe signal transmitters;
- so that the position, speed and travelling path of said boxing shoes can be detected and processed by said control unit which is configured such that it can command said driving unit to move said punchable body away from said approaching boxing shoes).
- The accomplishment of this and other objects of the invention will become apparent from the following description and its accompanying drawings of which:
- FIG. 1 is a side view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention; and
- FIG. 2 is a front view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- First of all, referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown. From the figures, the interactive boxing trainer includes a
main frame 10, adriving unit 20, acontrol unit 30, a pair ofboxing gloves 40 each having aglove signal transmitter 42, a pair ofboxing shoes 50 each having ashoe signal transmitter 52. Themain frame 10 contains alongitudinal slide rail 12, alateral slide rail 14 and apunchable body 16. Thepunchable body 16 is driven by thedriving unit 20 and movable on thelongitudinal slide rail 12 and thelateral slide rail 14. Moreover, thecontrol unit 30 is in connection with a plurality ofsignal receivers 32 provided at the upper and lower part of themain frame 10 so as to receive signals sent by thesignal transmitters boxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50. Therefore, the position, speed and travelling path of theboxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50 can be detected and processed by thecontrol unit 30 which then commands thedriving unit 20 to move thepunchable body 16 away from the approachingboxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50. - In order to effectively distinguish the right and
left boxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50, thesignal transmitters boxing gloves 40 and theboxing shoes 50 to thepunchable body 16 can be reckoned by thesignal receivers 32 in accordance with the different frequency. Thereafter, thecontrol unit 30 gives command to thedriving unit 20 to proceed with further proper reaction. Besides, pairwise signal receivers 32 can be arranged to detect different signals given out by thesignal transmitters boxing gloves 40 and the boxing shoes, respectively, so as to fulfil the aforementioned function. This technique belongs to the prior art so that no further descriptions thereto are given hereinafter. - Furthermore, how the
control unit 30 operates thedriving unit 20 and in which direction and how far thepunchable body 16 is moved away from theboxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50, belong to the programming field so that no further descriptions thereto are given hereinafter. - In brief, the
control unit 30 of the present invention makes use of at least two pairs ofsignal receivers 32 at the top and bottom and bothsignal transmitters boxing gloves 40 andboxing shoes 50. Accordingly, dual positioning method is used for a more accurate processing. Besides, thedriving unit 20 laterally (X-axis) and longitudinally (Y-axis) shift thepunchable body 16 to simulate the dodge movement of the opponent in the boxing match. Certainly, thepunchable body 16 can be arranged to move forward and backward (Z-axis) when required.
