Description

The present invention relates to a hearing aid with a housing for receiving internal electronic components, an external electronic component arranged outside the housing and a connecting device for mechanical and electrical connection of the housing and at least one of the internal electronic components with the external electronic component.

There is a need to connect external electronic components to a hearing aid. Examples of these external electronic components are earphones, external microphones or microphone arrays, cables for cross connectors to a second hearing device, radio receiver and the like. The most common application to date is the connection of the hearing aid to an external handset. For reasons of feedback or space requirements, it may be necessary to provide an external handset for the hearing aid.

Hearing aids with an external handset are known so far, in which the connection between the hearing aid and the handset cannot be released by the acoustician. The reason for this is that the electrical supply lines for the listener are soldered to the hearing aid. In a known variant, the electrical connecting lines are guided through a carrying hook and further through a flexible molded hose. A certain individual length adjustment is possible in that the molded hose can be moved in the carrying hook. With mechanical stress, however, the molded hose can come loose from the carrying hook, so that the set length changes.

With other hearing aids, the external handset is connected to the hearing aid by means of a plug connector. Because the electrical Connection cables are assembled, an individual length adjustment is not possible here.

The habits of the hearing aid wearer must always be taken into account when improving hearing aids. With regard to the mechanical connection between the external earpiece and the hearing aid, it is necessary to ensure that the hearing aid wearer pulls an earmold (otoplastic) on the tube out of the ear. Therefore, the mechanical connection between the tube or cable and the earmold but also the connection between the cable and the hearing aid must be designed for a corresponding mechanical stress.

In this context, a hearing aid device is known from the publication DE 195 41 648 A1, to which a mobile transmitting and receiving module is assigned. The mobile transmitting and receiving module has contact elements and can be coupled to corresponding counter-contacts of the hearing aid. According to a further embodiment, the mobile transmitting and receiving module can be connected to the hearing aid device via wiring.

The object of the present invention is to provide an easily manageable electrical and mechanical connection from the hearing aid to an external electronic component.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a hearing aid with a housing for receiving internal electronic components, an external electronic component arranged outside the housing and a connecting device for mechanically and electrically connecting the housing and at least one of the internal electronic components to the external electronic component, the connecting device being an insulation displacement terminal , which is arranged on the housing or the external electronic component, or at least two insulation displacement terminals, one of which is arranged on the housing and a second on the external electronic component, and one Connecting cable, which can be clamped into one insulation displacement terminal or the at least two insulation displacement terminals with the production of an electrical and mechanical connection.

Advantageously, this connection technique allows the acoustician to determine the length of the connection individually for each patient during the adaptation, e.g. B. simply adjust with scissors. The connecting lines or cables used can be designed as a solid plastic profile or plastic hose with integrated electrical conductors, which themselves have no special connecting elements. This means that the connecting cables can be manufactured by the meter and can easily be individually adjusted in length. The connection using insulation displacement technology can also be detached, so that the connecting cable can be shortened by cutting and extended by inserting a longer connecting cable. The insulation displacement technology ensures a stable, easily adaptable, even multi-core connection between the hearing aid and the external electronic component, in particular the handset.

In an advantageous embodiment, the electronic component comprises a receiver device, a radio receiver, an external microphone or a microphone array. However, the electronic component can also be a second hearing device to which a cross connection is established.

The connecting cable can be fixed on one side to an insulation displacement terminal and on the other side or connected to the respective component via a plug. Any combination of the connection technology between the hearing aid, the connection cable and the external electronic component can thus be carried out.

The connecting cable or its plastic as the carrier material should advantageously be transparent. This means that the hearing aid can be attached to the ear in an unobtrusive manner.

Further advantageous configurations result from the subclaims.

The exemplary embodiments described below represent preferred embodiments of the invention.

The connecting cable 1 consists of an essentially transparent carrier material 2. Two electrical conductors 3 are cast into the carrier material 2. In the longitudinal direction of the connecting cable 1, a groove 4 is provided, which serves as a mechanical key for reverse polarity protection. The connecting cable also has an outer sheath 5 made of a biocompatible Material that is skin-friendly for the hearing aid wearer.

Depending on the choice of material for the carrier 2 and the outer sheath 5, the connecting cable 1 can be plastically deformable and dimensionally stable or fully flexible. The electrical conductors 3 can consist of metal or a conductive plastic.

Since the connecting cable has the same cross-section over the entire length - it is available by the meter, for example - pieces of any length can be cut and the connection between the hearing aid and the external electronic component can be set individually. In addition, the connecting cable 1 may contain electrical components, not shown, such as switches, buttons, ICs, etc.

A modified embodiment of a connecting cable according to the invention is shown in FIG. In this case, the connecting cable 1 has an elongated cross section, the two conductors being arranged near the ends of the cross-sectional longitudinal shape. An outwardly protruding groove or nose 5 is selected here as the mechanical key for reverse polarity protection. A biocompatible outer shell is not shown here, but it can still be present. However, it is not necessary if the carrier material is already biocompatible.

Derartige mehradrige Kabel eignen sich insbesondere für Crossverbindungen von Hörgeräten.3 shows a multi-core variant of a connecting cable 1 according to the invention. The structure basically corresponds to that of the connecting cable from FIG. 1. However, a total of six conductors 3 are insulated from one another by the carrier material 2 in the cable. Five of the conductors 3 are arranged on the outer circumference of the carrier 2 and have the shape of a ring segment. Of course, the five conductors 3 can also have a circular cross section. A sixth conductor 3 with circular cross section is arranged in the center of the connecting cable 1. Such multi-core cables are particularly suitable for cross connections of hearing aids.

The insulation displacement terminal has a cylindrical base body 10, on the outer circumference of which a plurality of cutting edges 11 are attached. The cutting edges protrude obliquely outwards with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder 10. They consist of a flexible arm 12, which is fixedly attached to the outer periphery of the cylinder body 10 at the proximal end, and of a knife blade 13, which is arranged on the distal end of the arm 12 and projects inwards to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder body 10. Alternatively, the arms 12 can also be rigid and pivotally attached to the cylinder body 10.

In the center of the cylinder body 10, a mandrel is provided, which serves to contact a core arranged centrally in the connecting cable 1. Both the mandrel 14 and the arms 12 of the cutting edges 11 are contacted by electrical connections 15. Arranged around the cylinder body 10 is a clamping ring 16 which can be displaced along the rotational symmetry of the cylinder body 10 and which is used for pressing and clamping the cutting edges 11 into the connecting cable 1.

Die Nase 17 ragt aus der Oberfläche des Zylinderkörpers 10 in Richtung der Rotationssymmetrieachse des Zylinderkörpers 10.A top view of the insulation displacement clamp according to the invention is shown in FIG. 5. In this exemplary embodiment, six cutting edges 11, each consisting of an arm 12 and a knife blade 13, are arranged so as to protrude evenly on the outer circumference of the cylinder body 10. The clamping ring 16 is not shown in FIG 5. In the top view, however, a nose 17 can be seen, which serves as reverse polarity protection and engages in the groove 4 of a connecting cable 1. The nose 17 protrudes from the surface of the cylinder body 10 in the direction of the rotational symmetry axis of the cylinder body 10.

When producing the insulation displacement connection, the end face of the connecting line 1 is pressed onto the end face of the cylinder body 10. As a result, the contact between the mandrel 14 and a conductor 3 arranged centrally in the connecting cable 1 is established. Subsequently, the clamping ring 16 in FIG. 4 is pushed upward (arrow direction A). As a result, the cutting edges 11 are pressed inwards, as a result of which the knife blades 13 penetrate into the corresponding conductors 3 through the outer casing 5 of the connecting cable 1 and establish an electrical connection. The cutting edges 11 carry out the inward movement indicated by the arrows B. The clamping ring 16 is pushed with its upper edge slightly over the distal end of the arms 12 of the cutting edges 11 and engages in this position, the cutting edges 11 being pressed into the connecting cable 1. In this state, the cutters 11 not only ensure electrical contact with the conductors 3 but also fix the connecting cable 1 in its longitudinal direction on the cylinder body 10, which in turn is attached to the hearing aid or the external electronic component.

The insulation displacement connection shown can be used in combination with other connection technologies. For example, the following connection combinations can be practical:
  • a) insulation displacement connection both on the hearing aid and on the external electronic component
  • b) Plug connector on the hearing aid and insulation displacement connection on the external electronic component
  • c) Plug connector on the external electronic component and insulation displacement connection on the hearing aid
  • d) fixed connection on the hearing aid and insulation displacement connection on the external electronic component and
  • e) Fixed connection on the external electronic component and insulation displacement connection on the hearing aid.
