Description

The invention relates to a tire with a radial carcass reinforcement intended for equip construction and / or civil engineering equipment such as loaders, trucks, grader, scrapers.

The tire above comprises at least and mainly a reinforcement of carcass of radial metal cables, and between said carcass reinforcement and the band rolling, a crown reinforcement, which mainly comprises a reinforcement so-called work consisting of at least two plies of inextensible metal ropes, parallel to each other in each layer, and crossed from one table to the next by making with the circumferential direction angles can be between 0 ° and 45 °. The use of machines equipped with such tires also requires, radially to the outside of the working sheets, the presence of an additional reinforcement called protection consisting of at least one sheet of elastic metal cables. We elastic cable means a cable which, under a force of tension equal to its force of rupture, has a relative elongation of at least 3%, whereas a cable inextensible, present, under a tensile force equal to 10% of its breaking force, a relative elongation of at most 0.2%. The cables of the water table (s) protection make angles with the circumferential direction that can be understood between 5 and 35 °, and, in the case of the existence of two layers, are generally crossed between them from one tablecloth to the next.

If initially and as their name suggests, the so-called protective for the primary function of protecting the reinforcement against soil aggression suffered by the tire, their structural characteristics in the tires contemporaries ensure that they make a strong contribution to the resistance to separation between the two working plies, and are on the other hand, the duration life of civil engineering tires being larger, insufficient to ensure constant protection during said lifetime.

  • A tire of the species in question is subjected from the soil on which it evolves to multiple aggressions, in particular for the loading and transport gears. Such attacks by sharp objects, sharp and others, lead
  • a) to tread cuts, which increase the rate of degradation of said tread, to cuts of protective plies, which contribute less or no longer contribute to the resistance to the separation between the layers; of work, but also to cuts of working plies with possibility of propagation and oxidation of the metal elements of said plies by moisture and soil particles,
  • (b) vertex perforations in its entirety, the carcass reinforcement itself capable of being perforated according to the nature and shape of the aggressor object.
The cut resistance of the protection plies and the resistance of the top to the perforation needs to be improved.

It is known from US Pat. No. 3,589,425 to have an edge to the other of the strip of rolling of an aircraft tire, having a carcass reinforcement formed of several layers of textile elements crossed from one sheet to the next, on the one hand plies of oblique textile threads flush with the bottoms of circumferential grooves of the tread to oppose the effects of centrifugal force on said tread of rolling stock, and secondly two plies of hyper elastic metal cables with a relative elongation of between 15 and 40%, said cables being crossed by one tablecloth to the next and said plies being embedded between the bottom of the grooves band of rolling and carcass reinforcement of said tire.

Patent FR 2,388,685, with a view to preventing birth and minimizing the spread, towards tread reinforcement, breaks in bottom of transverse grooves of a Civil Engineering tire, teaches to dispose, in the non-grooved portion between the bottoms of the grooves and the crown reinforcement, at least one layer of cables expandable (steel cords having a relative elongation less than 0.5% under a force tensile strength equal to 10% of the breaking load), the inclination of the cables with the circumferential direction being less than 30 ° and preferably between 12 and 24 °, and the radial distance between the groove bottoms and said ribbon of cables being lower and close to one third of the radial distance between groove and groundwater radially closest top of the tread Such a structure does not not protect against cuts and their propagation and penalizes very strongly the resistance of the top of the tire to the shocks imposed by the rapid aggression of big obstacles.

In order to simultaneously improve the strengths of a tire crown of Civil Engineering to the three types of attacks by external objects that are resistance to cuts, puncture resistance, impact resistance, tire according to the invention, comprising a radial carcass reinforcement anchored in each bead to an annular bead reinforcing member, and radially above a crown reinforcement composed of at least two vertex plies of working of inextensible metal cables crossed from one sheet to the next, the said tablecloths having widths of not less than 50% of the width L of rolling and, radially above two cable protection top plies cross-linked elastic metal from one sheet to the next, the tread having in its non-grooved portion of thickness D at least one reinforcement of reinforcing elements, is characterized in that said armature is composed at least two layers of monofilaments of textile material, parallel to each other in each layer, the axial widths of said two layers being at least equal to the width of the smallest working ply.

It is particularly advantageous because only slightly modifies the rigidities the set of plies between the carcass reinforcement and the soil, that the layers are cross-monofilaments from one layer to the next forming with the circumferential direction of the angles between 50 and 60 °.

The textile material is preferably a polyamide whether it is aliphatic or aromatic. Per unit of axial width and per unit of circumferential length of the part of the grooved tread, the volume occupied by the elements of the reinforcement layers is at most equal to 20% of the total volume, the volume of rubber mixture being then at least 80% of said total volume: Filling characteristics above allow to get a very good compromise between cut resistance and impact resistance of the additional reinforcement of tread.

The features of the present invention will be better understood using the description of an embodiment described in a non-limiting manner and illustrated by the drawing annexed in which the single figure 1 represents schematically, seen in section meridian, a tire for civil engineering machinery according to the invention.

Said two 340 and 341 radially cut the layer of rubber mixture forming the non-grooved portion of the tread in three sub-layers, the layer 35 between the radially lower ply 340 of the reinforcement 34 and the most protective ply 331 outside, the layer 36 separating the two plies 340 and 341, and the layer 37 between the bottom of the grooves and the radially upper ply 341 of the frame 34, said underlays 35, 36, 37 having a thickness D 0 , measured in the equatorial plane and substantially constant over the entire axial width, equal to D / 3.

The characteristics according to which the said monofilaments are made of polyamide and radially spaced protection plies 330 and 331 minimize propagation cuts to the protective armor, which allows him to fill his double role of protection and anti-separation between tablecloths, and improve the resistance to perforation. The characteristics according to which said monofilaments are oriented at an angle equal to or close to 55 ° and that the frame 34 obeys a given filling structure (volume occupied by the reinforcing elements equal to 15% of the total volume in the case described) avoid excessive bending stiffness of the summit as a whole and do not penalize resistance shocks, quite the contrary the better.

The results obtained are particularly convincing with regard to cut resistance; for the same number of driving hours carried out on a rocky soil with repeated passages in a puddle of salt water, the number of cuts observed on the radially outermost ply 341 is important but the protective plies 331 and 330 are intact whereas the said plies of protection of the control tire (which has no grooved part of reinforced bearing) have many cuts with infiltration of moisture and beginning of oxidation of the elastic cables of the protective plies.
