- bei welchem jede der Leistungsstufen für den n-ten Teil der maximalen Gesamtleistung des Mehrkanaldimmers ausgelegt ist, die durch das Wärmeableitvermögen des Kühlkörpers begrenzt ist,
- und bei welchem die Leistungsstufen unter Zwischenschaltung einer Selektionseinrichtung angesteuert sind, wobei die Selektionseinrichtung dafür eingerichtet ist, lastseitig parallel geschaltete Leistungsstufen auch ansteuerungsseitig parallel zu schalten.

Je nach Wahl der Anzahl n und der elektrischen Leistung der Leistungsstufen, kann mit einer sehr kleinen Anzahl unterschiedlicher Dimmertypen ein breites Anwendungsspektrum abgedeckt werden. Dadurch vereinfachen sich Produktion, Lagerhaltung, Vertrieb und Anwendung des Dimmers.
