- Ball joint for a slatted type or a multi-element type bed base, consisting of:- a footing (1) which is arranged to be secured on the structure of said bed base,- a head (3) which is arranged to receive and secure one or more slats or a plate, according to the type of bed base,- an elastic link (5) between said footing (1) and said head (3), arranged to allow a movement of the latter toward the footing according to at least one component perpendicular to that footing (1),characterized in that it comprises on one hand, at said elastic link (5), a first part consisting of rigid arms (11) disposed in a V-configuration, articulated on a platen (12) which is integral with either said footing (1) or said head (3), and a second part forming a spring (10) which extends between the free ends (14) of said arms (11) and said head (3) or said footing (1) according to the case, and, on the other hand, means to adjust and control the amplitude of the movement of said arms (11) so as to modify at will the movement ability of said head (3) relative to said footing (1) and, consecutively, the stiffness of said ball joint.
- Ball joint according to claim 1, characterized in that the constitutive elements thereof, i.e. the footing (1), the head (3) and the elastic link (5) interposed between them both, are arranged in an integral form made of a thermoplastic material of elastomeric type.
- Ball joint according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the means to adjust and control the movement of the rigid arms (11) consist of at least one cam-shaped part (16, 16', 16"), the position of which is adjustable according to the needs, in particular between said arms (11) and a surface (17) acting as a stop, arranged either at the head (3) or at the footing (1) according to the case.
- Ball joint according to claim 3, characterized in that the cam (16') has a U-shape the legs of which are provided with a wedge-type or a ramp-type profile (44'), said cam (16') being guided as a slide, centered on the pivot-shaped linking member (30) interposed between the surface (17) acting as a stop and the platen (12) supporting the articulation of the rigid arms (11).
- Ball joint according to claim 4, characterized in that the internal sides of the legs of the U-shaped cam (16') comprise a kind of notching (52) cooperating with the pivot-shaped linking member (30) interposed between the surface (17) acting as a stop and the platen (12) for articulation of the arms (11), to establish at least two adjustment possibilities for the position of the cam (16').
- Ball joint according to claim 3, characterized in that the cam (16) has the form of a horseshoe snap-fitted onto the pivot-shaped linking member (30) interposed between the surface (17) acting as a stop and the platen (12) supporting the articulation of the arms (11), said cam comprises profiles (44) arranged in a wedge or a ramp manner, with a symmetry relative to the rotation axis (46) thereof.
- Ball joint according to claim 3, characterized in that the cam (16") has the form of a ring interposed between the surface (17) of the head (3) and the platen (12) for articulation of the arms (11), said ring is centered and operated by mean of an axis (57) which is guided in an opening formed in said surface (17), said axis being a part of a button-type member (58) arranged to drive said cam in rotation, said cam (16") comprises wedge-type profiles (61) or ramp-type profiles, arranged symmetrically relative to the rotation axis thereof.
- Ball joint according to claim 7, characterized in that the cross-bar (31) of the head (3), comprising the bearing surface (17) and the platen (12) for articulation of the rigid arms (11), is integrally linked by mean of an offset linking wall (63), thereby forming a housing for the ring-shaped cam (16").
- Ball joint according to any one of claims 3 to 8, characterized in that the rigid arms (11) comprise, close to their articulation on the platen (12), toes (32) intended to rest on the profiles of the cams (16, 16', 16") according to the case.
- Ball joint according to any one of claims 3 to 9, characterized in that the profiles of the cams are arranged in the form of resilient blades (50, 44', 60) the toe-side face of which being situated in the end plane of the latter for maintaining them in direct contact with said blades, said blades acting as a resilient return device for the arms, toward the rest position thereof.
