Abstract

A turbine blade (10) includes an airfoil and dovetail (18). The dovetail includes a pair of supporting tangs (26). A rectangular root block (36) bridges the tangs over a majority of the root end thereof. The block terminates short of one endface (40) of the dovetail to form a root notch (42) thereat for preferentially reducing weight.
