Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Vorrichtung zum Auftragen eines Beschichtungsmediums auf zumindest eine Teiloberfläche eines langgestreckten und in seiner Längsrichtung transportierten Werkstückes, bestehend aus einer mit Vakuum beaufschlagbaren Beschichtungskammer mit je einer in der einlaß- und der auslaßseitigen Wandung desselben ausgebildeten und dem Querschnitt des Werkstückes angepaßten Öffnung sowie aus einer im Beschichtungskopf befindlichen und mit dem Beschichtungsmedium beaufschlagbaren Schlitzdüse. Es ist bekannt, langgestreckte und in ihrer Längsrichtung transportierte Werkstücke zumindest auf einem Teil ihrer Oberfläche mit einem Beschichtungsmedium zu versehen. Als Beschichtungsmedien werden pump- und filterfähige, düsengängige Flüssigkeiten wie Pigmentlösungen, Farben, Lacke, Grundierungen und Imprägnierungsmittel eingesetzt. Diese Beschichtungsmedien werden in einer gehäuseartigen Beschichtungskammer durch eine in derselben angebrachten Auftragseinheit, die als Sprüh- oder Flutrahmen oder Schlitzdüse, entweder profilabhängig oder profilunabhängig ausgebildet ist, aufgebracht. Die Beschichtungskammer weist sowohl in ihrer einlaßseitigen als auch in ihrer auslaßseitigen Wandung eine Öffnung auf, die dem Querschnitt des Werkstückes angepaßt ist, rechtwinklig zur Transportrichtung des Werkstückes 2 verläuft und durch eine auswechselbare Schablone gebildet sein kann. Diese Öffnung ist jedoch in ihrem Querschnitt allseitig geringfügig größer ausgebildet, so dass zwischen den Begrenzungskanten der Öffnung und dem Werkstück ein umlaufender, gleichbleibender Spalt vorhanden ist. Über ein an die Beschichtungskammer angelegtes Vakuum strömt Luft von außen in die Beschichtungskammer, die überschüssiges Beschichtungsmedium mitreißt, so dass die Dicke des aufgebrachten Beschichtungsmediums über die gesamte Oberfläche bzw.
