Claims

CLAIMSDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
1. A pelmet with a covering consisting of a facing removeably secured to it is generally indicated by reference numeral 1 in figure 1. The peimet (2) consist of a front member ( 3 ), an upper member and a lower member extending as rearward flanges ( 4 ) and ( 5 ).
2. The upper flange (4) has a operatively upper surface (4a ) and lower surface (4b), the front member (3) operatively front surface (3a) and rear surface (3b), and the lower flange (5) has an operatively lower surface (5a) and upper surface (5b).
3. The peimet (2) is secured to a waii (6) by means of supporting brackets (7), which are secured to rear surface (3b) of the front member (3) as will be described in more detail further on in the specification.
4. As can be seen from figure 1 and 2, the pelmet (2) has a apertures (8) in the upper flange (4) and a iower flange (5) that extend to the rear edges (9) and (10) thereof.
5. The pelmet (2) is covered is coverd with a facing fabric (11) chosen to match the decorating theme of the room. The fabric (11) covers the peimet (2) in a stretched condition to provide a smooth surface.
6. As shown in figure 2, the fabric (11 ) has button-like discs (12) sewn onto the edges thereof. The discs (12) are sewn onto the fabric (11) with thread (13) to space the discs (12) from the fabric (11) by about the same distance as the thickness of the upper flange (4) and the lower flange (5) respectively.
7. The discs (12) are located through the upper flange (4) apertures (8a) first and the fabric then drawn over the front of the peimet and the flange enables the discs (12) to be located through the lower flange (5) apertures (8b) The thread (13) of each disc (12) extends through an aperture (8a, 8b) to position the discs (12) underneath the upper flange (4), and above the lower flange (5) respectively. This reieasably secures the fabric (11 ) to the pelmet (2)
8. The fabric (11) need not always have discs (12) sewn onto the lower end of the fabric to secure in apertures (8b).
9. The fabric (11 ) covering the pelmet (2) could be made up of several different pieces, all having discs (12) sewn onto the different pieces making up the various ornamentations.
