Claims (25)

  1. Drucker zum Drucken eines kollationierten mehrseitigen Dokuments, wenn es mit einer Vielzahl manuell kollationierter Quellenseiten vorgelegt wird, wobei der Drucker umfasst:
    eine erste Einfuhrlade für Quellenseiten (1012);
    eine zweite Einfuhrlade für Papierbögen (1014);
    einen Codesensor (1024) zum Abtasten maschinenlesbarer Codes auf den Quellenseiten (1012);
    eine Steuereinheit (1040), die die maschinenlesbaren Codes verwendet, um zuvor gespeicherte elektronische Versionen der Quellenseiten (1012) zu identifizieren und abzurufen;
    eine Druckmaschine (1026) zum Drucken der abgerufenen Seiten auf das Papier (1014); und
    einen Papiertransportmechanismus (1022, 1028) zum Transportieren der Quellenseiten und des Papiers;
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass:
    der Papiertransportmechanismus zum Transportieren der Quellenseiten und des Papiers durch denselben Papierpfad zur Codeabtastung beziehungsweise zum Drucken konfiguriert ist, wobei der Codesensor (1024) und die Druckmaschine (1026) sich in Wirkposition in dem Papierpfad befinden.
  2. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter eine Bindevorrichtung (1030, 1032) zum Einbinden der gedruckten Seiten umfassend.
  3. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter einen Scanner zum Kopieren von Seiten, die keine maschinenlesbaren Codes aufweisen, umfassend, der elektronische Versionen der Seiten produziert.
  4. Drucker nach Anspruch 3, weiter ein Speichermedium umfassend, das die elektronischen Versionen der gescanten Seiten speichert.
  5. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter einen handgehaltenen Codesensor umfassend, der maschinenlesbare Codes auf den manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten abtastet.
  6. Drucker nach Anspruch 1 oder 5, wobei die maschinenlesbaren Codes auf den manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten folgendermaßen dargestellt werden:
    (a) optisch; oder
    (b) elektronisch; oder
    (c) magnetisch; oder
    (d) topografisch; oder
    (e) chemisch.
  7. Drucker nach Anspruch 1 oder 5, wobei der Codesensor (1024) maschinenlesbare Codes auf beiden Seiten der manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten abtastet.
  8. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Steuereinheit auch (1040) Kommunikationen zwischen dem Drucker und einem oder mehreren Randgeräten steuert.
  9. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, wobei elektronische Versionen der manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten, die zu drucken sind, aus mindestens einem von der Gruppe abgerufen werden, umfassend:
    (a) ein in einem Hostrechner enthaltenes Speichermedium;
    (b) einen Server, auf den über ein Rechnernetzwerk zugegriffen wird;
    (c) ein in dem Drucker selbst enthaltenes Speichermedium; und
    (d) jede Kombination der obigen.
  10. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter eine Eingabevorrichtung umfassend, womit ein Benutzer des Druckers das Format des gedruckten und kollationierten mehrseitigen Dokuments steuert.
  11. Drucker nach Anspruch 10, wobei die Eingabevorrichtung eine berührungsempfindliche Anzeigetafel (1066) umfasst.
  12. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Druckmaschine auch maschinenlesbare Codes auf eine Seite druckt und wobei die maschinenlesbaren Codes für das menschliche Auge nicht sichtbar sind.
  13. Drucker nach Anspruch 2, wobei der Drucker Blankoseiten in das gedruckte Dokument einfügt, um in den manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten enthaltene Blankoseiten zu duplizieren.
  14. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, wobei Anweisungen von einem handgehaltenen Codesensor empfangen und interpretiert werden und ein kollationiertes mehrseitiges Dokument produziert wird.
  15. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter eine Schnittstelle umfassend, die Anweisungen zum Drucken eines kollationierten mehrseitigen Dokuments zu einem zweiten Drucker überträgt.
  16. Drucker nach Anspruch 15, wobei die Anweisungen über ein Rechnernetzwerk oder über ein Telefonnetzwerk übertragen werden.
  17. Drucker nach Anspruch 1, weiter ein Speichermedium umfassend, das eine elektronische Version von Seiten, die gedruckt worden sind, speichert.
  18. Verfahren zum Drucken eines kollationierten mehrseitigen Dokuments, wenn es mit einer Vielzahl manuell quellenkollationierter Seiten vorgelegt wird, wobei das Verfahren die folgenden Schritte umfasst:
    Vorsehen eines Druckers, wie in Anspruch 1 definiert;
    Abtasten maschinenlesbarer Codes auf den manuell kollationierten Quellenseiten unter Verwendung eines Codesensors;
    Verwenden der maschinenlesbaren Codes zum Identifizieren und Abrufen zuvor gespeicherter elektronischer Versionen der Quellenseiten; und
    Drucken der abgerufenen Seiten.
  19. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, weiter den Schritt des Einbindens der gedruckten Seiten umfassend.
  20. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, weiter die Schritte des Verwendens eines Scanners zum Kopieren von Seiten, die keine maschinenlesbaren Codes aufweisen, und Produzierens elektronischer Versionen dieser Seiten umfassend.
  21. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, wobei der Schritt des Druckens der abgerufenen Seiten das Drucken von maschinenlesbaren Codes auf diese Seiten umfasst.
  22. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18 oder Anspruch 21, wobei die maschinenlesbaren Codes unsichtbar sind.
  23. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, wobei der Codesensor maschinenlesbare Codes auf beiden Seiten der manuell kollationierten Seiten abtastet.
  24. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, weiter den Schritt der Verwendung einer Eingabevorrichtung zum Steuern des Formats des gedruckten und kollationierten mehrseitigen Dokuments umfassend.
  25. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, wobei der Druckschritt den Unterschritt des Übertragens der abgerufenen Seiten zu einem entfernt aufgestellten Drucker umfasst.
