Description

The present invention relates to a made of a metal ring braid arm, leg and torso protective clothing.

Protective garments made of metal ring braid are worn by persons who handle tools, machines or objects which involve a particular risk of injury, in particular cuts to the body, especially the limbs, for example in meat processing in slaughterhouses, in poultry and the fishing industry, as well as when working with sharp-edged objects in the metal industry, to name but a few of the uses of such protective clothing. Metal ring braids have been well proven for such purposes so far, because they provide adequate protection against injury and readily adapt to the body because of their excellent flexibility and movements of the body hinder. Under a metal ring mesh is understood a metal braid, which is constructed of metal rings that loosely entwine each other.

However, the high flexibility of the metal ring mesh also has disadvantages such as e.g. becomes clear by the example of a forearm protection, which can be attached as a cuff on a glove. If this forearm guard consists of a metal ring mesh, it will collapse and collapse in the area of the wrist, unless stiffening is provided, which prevents collapse, e.g. by plastic or metal rails, or if you do not extend the forearm protection to behind the elbow and there by means of a strap surrounding the arm. Both, however, affect the mobility of the arm.

To counteract this disadvantage, it is known from DE 33 05 841 C2 to stiffen a metal ring mesh by strands of silicone or plastic, in which strips of the metal ring mesh are embedded. The disadvantage of this is that such silicone or plastic strands make it difficult to clean and disinfect the protective clothing. In addition, such silicone or plastic strands are subjected to a strong abrasion and wear when working.

From DE-OS 2,147,830 a protective clothing is known, which has a consisting of metallic ring links and cross-shaped scales existing scale mesh. By the described arrangement, a cleaning of the scale braid to be facilitated. From DE-PS 946 523 a stab protection apron made of a metal mesh is known, in which rings made of stainless steel by flake-shaped connecting links made of light metal are joined together to reduce the weight of the metal mesh.

The invention has for its object to provide a partially stiffened metal ring mesh for arm, leg and torso protective clothing, which is easier to clean, disinfect and inexpensive to manufacture.

This object is achieved by a protective clothing having the features specified in claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

According to the invention it is provided to stiffen the metal ring mesh, characterized in that in some areas chained together rings are metallically cohesively connected to each other. This can be achieved, for example, by welding or soldering, wherein welding, in particular by pressure welding, e.g. Spot welding or roll welding, inexpensive and is particularly preferred. This measure has the advantage that can be dispensed with non-metallic components of the protective clothing, resulting in an easy-to-clean protective clothing. Such protective clothing according to the invention can advantageously be sterilized at high temperatures and exposed to aggressive chemical and mechanical cleaning agents (detergents, disinfectants, strong brushes), for the use of which plastic would be too sensitive. In particular, protective clothing according to the invention is insensitive to mechanical cleaning processes and can be readily cleaned, for example, with high pressure water jet equipment and steam jet equipment. Advantageously, subregions of any geometry according to the invention can be stiffened. As a result, a favorable adaptation to a variety of uses and uses of the metal ring mesh and the protective clothing is achieved.

Another advantage is that a metal cohesive connection with each other chained rings with little effort, in particular without additional components of the protective clothing, perform, so that the protective clothing can be manufactured inexpensively. Advantageously, such Protective clothing on a smooth, comfortable to wear surface, in particular, the stiffened portions of lesser thickness than in the prior art and there is no abrasion.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the metallic material connection is made by welding or soldering. This measure has the advantage that it can be done inexpensively such a metallic cohesive connection of interlinked rings.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that a welding point connects four rings linked together. This measure has the advantage that such a partial area can be stiffened with as few spot welds as possible.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the stiffened portions are strip-shaped. This measure has the advantage that the metal ring mesh can no longer be pushed together in the longitudinal direction of the strips, but retains its desired high flexibility transversely thereto. The longitudinal direction of the strips is best transverse to the longitudinal direction of the braid. In the direction of the metal ring mesh can be pushed together wrinkle-free to a relatively large extent, but not at right angles. In gloves, therefore, the running direction is usually chosen to coincide with the longitudinal direction of the fingers, so that the metal ring weave readily participates in the movements of the fingers.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the extent of the stiffened portions, in particular the width of strip-shaped stiffened portions, is at least three times the outer diameter of the rings. This measure has the advantage that the stresses that require the stiffened strips to bend on a larger number of Distribute welding points, which results in a longer durability of the stiffeners.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the subregions are formed as interrupted strips. This measure has the advantage that a collapse of the metal ring mesh in the longitudinal direction of the strips is prevented and at the same time a certain flexibility is maintained by the interruptions of the strips, which increases the wearing comfort of the protective clothing.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the distance between non-intersecting, adjacent, stiffened portions is at least twice the outer diameter of the rings of the metal ring mesh. This measure has the advantage that the stiffened portions can be flexibly moved against each other, which preserves the comfort of the protective clothing.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the outer contours of the protective clothing are stabilized. For some applications, such as aprons, it is advantageous if the outer contours, so the edges are stiffened, while the inner region remains flexible.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that the stiffened portions stabilize spherical structures. This measure has the advantage that the protective clothing can be adapted to the shoulders or head of the wearer, so that the wearing comfort is increased.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that, depending on the intended use, parallel strip-shaped partial regions or intersecting strip-shaped partial regions are provided. In intersecting strands, the metal ring mesh is stiffened two-dimensionally, so that it in no direction can be pushed together unhindered. Such a braid is particularly suitable for the protection of parts of the trunk, eg as a chest protector. For non-crossing strips, the metal ring braid is collapsible and highly flexible in the direction transverse to the strips, much like an unstiffened metal ring mesh. Such a braid is particularly suitable as arm or leg protection. Preferably, in the case of arm or leg protection, the strips extend substantially in the longitudinal direction of the arms or legs to prevent collapse of the braid along the arms or legs even without any particular attachment to the arm or leg. The degree of stiffening of the braid can be selected according to the particular application and can be set within wide limits by varying the distance, the width and the thickness of the stiffened strip-shaped sections.

In the various representations, corresponding or corresponding parts are designated by corresponding reference numerals.

The metal ring mesh 1 shown is formed from mutually identical circular rings 2. Within the braid, each ring 2 is concatenated with four adjacent rings; at the edge of the braid and at seams formed to match the shape of the braid to the contour of a body part, the degree of concatenation is naturally lower.

Figure 1 shows a piece of metal ring braid 1, which is stiffened in the sub-areas 3a, 3b, 3c characterized in that in these sections 3a, 3b, 3c chained together rings by pressure welding metallically cohesively connected to each other. The portion 3a is designed as a continuous strip, while the sections 3b and 3c are designed as broken strips, which offers the advantage of greater flexibility. Of course, other shaped portions - especially curved or crossing each other - strips in the metal ring mesh 1 are stiffened. The use of strip-shaped portions has the advantage that the stiffened surface kept low overall and at the same time the desired stiffening of the protective clothing can be achieved. The smallest possible stiffened surface lowers the manufacturing costs and increases the wearing comfort. The strip-shaped partial regions 3a, 3b, 3c shown in FIG. 1 have a width of three ring diameters. Of course, these sections 3a, 3b, 3c can also be made narrower or wider. However, the broader they are, the more the protective clothing loses its flexibility, which compromises wearing comfort. If the stiffened partial regions 3a, 3b, 3c are made narrower, a smaller number of spot welds 4 will be correspondingly more heavily loaded. This can lead to breakage of welds 4 or metal rings 2 and so affect the longevity of the protective clothing.

Figure 2 shows a cross section of a side view of an unstiffened metal ring mesh 1. Figure 3 shows a corresponding cross section of a stiffened portion 3. The stiffening is carried out by pressure welding. As can be seen by comparing Figures 2 and 3, this also causes the Metal ring mesh 1 in the stiffened portions 3a, 3b, 3c noticeably flatter.

Figure 4 shows in a plan view and in a corresponding sectional side view of a section of the metal ring mesh 1 an example of the intertwining of the rings 2. In such an intertwining of metal rings 2 are always four interconnected metal rings 2 by a weld point 4 metallically cohesively connected. The welding is done by Preßschweißung. Of course, other welds or soldering are conceivable. However, by pressure welding to achieve a cost effective permanent connection of four metal rings 2 linked together by a single spot weld 4. If you put the metal ring braiding for welding on a curved surface, then it can also stiffen spherical structures, so that an adaptation to the head or shoulder of the wearer is reached. Advantageously, the wearing comfort increases.

Figure 5 shows a metal ring mesh 1 with a stiffened portion 3d as outer contour stabilization. Advantageously, the outer contours are stiffened, while the inner region remains flexible, which is favorable, for example, aprons. Such outer contour stabilization can be carried out continuously as shown in FIG. 5 or else interrupted.
