  • Modern beverage cans usually have top and bottom components that are smaller in diameter than the body of the can. This means that there is often substantial space between the corners of the end structure of a carton and the tops and bottoms of the cans.
  • the cans are typically designed to telescopically nest when they are stacked one upon another. Thus, when packages of cans are stacked upon one another the cans tend to nest as much as they are able. This action decreases the overall height of a carton thereby causing the end walls to bow outwardly. This outward bowing, or bulging, is also known as blousing.
  • Blousing creates problems because it can place undue stress upon the flaps forming the end walls of cartons thereby causing glued panels to fail.

  • the lengths L2, L3 of the top 22 and bottom 26 panels are less than the distance L1 between the apexes of the side walls 24, 20/28, so that the fold lines 45, 35 of the major 23 and minor 27 flaps, respectively, lie closer to or are even coincident with the chimes of cans C or similar articles that are packaged.
  • This enables the package to be more tightly formed initially with less free or unencumbered major and minor flap area subject to the blousing effect. Accordingly, the side flaps 25, 21/29 are able to rest against the cans (C) while the major and minor flaps 23, 27 fit snugly against the top and bottom portions of the cans.
  • the carton end closure is made even more snug fitting with respect to the articles held within the carton through placement of a transition panel 50, 60 intermediate the side panels 24, 20/28 and the end walls of the carton.

Claims (14)

  1. Schachtel (10), umfassend gegenüberliegende Decken- und Bodenwandflächen (22, 26) und gegenüberliegende Seitenwandflächen (24, 20, 28), die miteinander verbunden sind und eine röhrenförmige Struktur ausbilden, Seitenklappen (25, 21, 29), die faltbar mit den Seitenwandflächen (24, 20, 28) entlang jeweiliger erster geschwächter Verbindungslinien (55) verbunden sind, Hauptklappen (23), die faltbar mit der Deckenwandfläche (22) entlang jeweiliger zweiter geschwächter Verbindungslinien (45) verbunden sind, sowie Nebenklappen (27), die mit der Bodenwandfläche (26) entlang jeweiliger dritter geschwächter Verbindungslinien (35) verbunden sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die ersten geschwächten Verbindungslinien (55) sich jeweils vollständig entlang einer angrenzenden Endkante der jeweiligen Seitenwandfläche (24, 20, 28) erstrecken und in Richtung der Seitenklappen (25, 21, 29) bogenförmig verlaufen und dadurch, dass eine Länge (L2, L3) wenigstens einer der Decken- und Bodenwandflächen (22, 26) kürzer ist als ein Abstand (L1) zwischen Scheitelpunkten von Bögen der Seitenwandflächen (24, 20, 28).
  2. Schachtel nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Längen (L2, L3) von der Deckenwandfläche (22) und der Bodenwandfläche (26) kürzer sind als der Abstand (L1) zwischen Scheitelpunkten von Bögen der Seitenwandflächen (24, 20, 28).
  3. Schachtel nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die Deckenwandfläche (22) und die Bodenwandfläche (26) im wesentlichen gleich lang sind.
  4. Schachtel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei die Schachtel ferner nach innen geneigte Übergangswandflächen (50, 60) an jeweiligen Enden der Seitenwandflächen (24, 20, 28) umfasst, wobei jede von der ersten geschwächten Verbindungslinie (55) ausgebildet wird, sowie eine vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58), die inwärts einer gedachten Ecke der Schachtel angeordnet ist, um somit die Schachtel um die Gegenstände festzuziehen.
  5. Schachtel nach Anspruch 4, wobei die vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58) bogenförmig ist, um eine Übergangswandfläche (50, 60) mit einer ellipsenförmigen Form zu definieren.
  6. Schachtel nach Anspruch 4 oder 5, wobei die Schachtel eine Griffstruktur (H) aufweist, wobei die vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58) entlang einer Wandfläche (20, 28) angeordnet ist, die die Griffstruktur (H) ausbildet.
  7. Schachtel nach einem der Ansprüche 4 bis 6, wobei die oder jede Seitenwandfläche (24, 20, 28) von ihrer angrenzenden Seitenklappe (25, 21, 29) durch die Übergangswandfläche(n) (50, 60) getrennt ist.
  8. Zuschnitt (12) zum Ausbilden einer Schachtel (10), wobei der Zuschnitt (12) eine erste Wandfläche (22) zum Ausbilden einer Deckenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel umfasst, die faltbar mit einer zweiten Wandfläche (24) zum Ausbilden einer Seitenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel verbunden ist, die faltbar mit einer dritten Wandfläche (26) zum Ausbilden einer Bodenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel verbunden ist, die faltbar mit einer vierten Wandfläche (20, 28) zum Ausbilden einer weiteren Seitenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel verbunden ist, Seitenklappen (25, 21, 29), die entlang jeweiliger erster geschwächter Verbindungslinien (55) faltbar mit der zweiten und der vierten Wandfläche (24, 20, 28) verbunden sind, Hauptklappen (23), die entlang jeweiliger zweiter geschwächter Verbindungslinien (45) faltbar mit der ersten Wandfläche (22) verbunden sind, die als die Deckenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel dient, Nebenklappen (27), die entlang jeweiliger dritter geschwächter Verbindungslinien (35) mit der dritten Wandfläche (26) verbunden sind, die als die Bodenwandfläche in der aufgerichteten Schachtel dient, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die ersten geschwächten Verbindungslinien (55) sich jeweils vollständig entlang einer angrenzenden Endkante der jeweiligen zweiten und vierten Wandfläche (24, 20, 28) erstrecken und in Richtung der Seitenklappen (25, 21, 29) bogenförmig verlaufen, und dadurch, dass eine Länge (L2, L3) wenigstens einer der ersten und der dritten Wandfläche (22, 26) kürzer ist als ein Abstand (L1) zwischen Scheitelpunkten von Bögen der zweiten und der vierten Wandfläche (24, 20, 28).
  9. Zuschnitt nach Anspruch 8, wobei die Längen (L2, L3) von der ersten Wandfläche (22) und der dritten Wandfläche (26) kürzer sind als der Abstand (L1) zwischen Scheitelpunkten von Bögen der zweiten und der vierten Wandfläche (24, 20, 28).
  10. Zuschnitt nach Anspruch 8 oder 9, wobei die erste Wandfläche (22) und die dritte Wandfläche (26) im wesentlichen gleich lang sind.
  11. Zuschnitt nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 10, wobei der Zuschnitt ferner Übergangswandflächen (50, 60) an jeweiligen Enden der zweiten und der vierten Wandfläche (24, 20, 28) umfasst, wobei jede von der ersten geschwächten Verbindungslinie (55) ausgebildet wird, sowie eine vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58), die inwärts einer gedachten Ecke der aufgerichteten Schachtel angeordnet ist.
  12. Zuschnitt nach Anspruch 11, wobei die vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58) bogenförmig ist, um eine Übergangswandfläche (50, 60) mit einer ellipsenförmigen Form zu definieren.
  13. Zuschnitt nach Anspruch 11 oder 12, wobei der Zuschnitt eine Griffstruktur (H) aufweist, wobei die vierte geschwächte Verbindungslinie (58) entlang einer Wandfläche (20, 28) angeordnet ist, die die Griffstruktur (H) ausbildet.
  14. Zuschnitt nach einem der Ansprüche 11 bis 13, wobei die oder jede zweite und vierte Wandfläche (24, 20, 28) von ihrer angrenzenden Seitenklappe (25, 21, 29) durch die Übergangswandfläche (50, 60) getrennt ist.
