Definitions
- the subject of the present invention is a mechanical watch with two non-concentric analog displays, including a primary display indicating local time and a secondary display showing the time in a time zone any, including a primary hour hand and a primary minutes, a secondary hour hand and a minute hand secondary, and comprising a winding crown intended to occupy three distinct axial positions, including a first position for winding the watch, a second position to change the time of the secondary display and a third position for synchronous setting of the two displays.
- a universal mechanical watch with an additional display intended for indicate the time of any time zone is known from patent CH 673196.
- the correction of the additional display is done by the winding stem in its intermediate date setting position.
- the correction of additional display is only possible in one direction, which presents significant inconvenience to the user.
- the drive mechanism described in this patent includes a system separate references intended to drive the additional switch and comprising plus a jumper mechanism with regard to the wheel drive barrel of the additional switch, which could also cause disadvantages concerning the complexity and the precision of the mechanism.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and the invention is characterized for this purpose by the fact that the hour hand secondary display secondary is adjustable in both directions, forward and backward, in one hour steps regardless of the primary display in using the winding crown in its second position, positioning a tilt so that the time zone pinion is driven by by means of two pinions mounted on said rocker. Said spindle gear timetable engages with a time zone reference the cogs of the secondary display so as to correct the time in the time zone in steps one hour depending on the direction of rotation of the winding crown. The correction of the time zone time shown in the secondary display is therefore easy and fast.
- an embodiment of a watch according to the invention is characterized in that the cogs of the two displays are driven in their clockwise movement by means of a central pinion driving a primary timer mobile and a secondary timer mobile transferring the animation to the cogs carrying the display hands.
- These cogs include a primary hour wheel and an hour wheel secondary as well as a primary minute gear and a minute gear secondary.
- the central pinion thus allows on the one hand the hourly drive of two displays and on the other hand the synchronous time setting of the two displays when driven by a time-setting mobile in engagement with the primary gear mounted on the scale, when the latter is in its third position.
- the secondary hour hand is connected to the cogs of secondary display via a working elastic clutch in a plane and defining twelve stable positions for the hour hand secondary.
- This elastic clutch includes the secondary hour wheel, a time zone wheel carrying the secondary hour hand, as well as a star with twelve teeth mounted on this time zone wheel and a spring mounted on the secondary hours wheel so that the teeth of said star can pass over this spring when the time zone wheel is driven by time zone return to offset the hour hand secondary in one hour steps from the primary hour hand.
- this spring of the elastic clutch by a continuous spring closed on itself with two arcs inside intended to cooperate with two opposite notches of the star secured to the wheel time zone.
- the spring still has two slots crossed by two separate pins secured to the secondary hours wheel to be driven by it. This allows the time zone wheel to be rotated by relation to the secondary hour wheel using the twelve stable positions provided by the teeth of the star. A clutch working in a plane is thus particularly simple.
- a watch according to the invention can also be equipped with a form brake elongated with primary teeth and secondary teeth ends, pivotally mounted and controlled by the rocker.
- a form brake elongated with primary teeth and secondary teeth ends, pivotally mounted and controlled by the rocker.
- Such a brake is intended on the one hand, when the winding crown is in its second position to change the time of the secondary display, to mesh with the secondary teeth in the secondary minutes pinion teeth for prevent movement of the secondary minute hand when the hand secondary time zone is corrected by one hour jump.
- this brake is intended, when the winding crown is in its third position for synchronous setting of the two displays, at mesh by the primary teeth in a board mounted friction on the central pinion to prevent movement of the basic drive train during this time setting.
- a brake of this type allows so in a simple way to avoid any kind of unwanted influence of an operation on one cog to another cog and to separate the functions of the different cogs while setting the time or correcting the time zone on the one hand and walking normal or reassembly on the other hand.
- FIG. 1 schematically illustrates the watch on the dial side, in particular showing the two displays.
- Figure 2 is a schematic plan view of the mechanism according to the invention, the scale being in the position to change the time of the display secondary.
- Figure 3 is a schematic plan view of the mechanism according the invention, the lever being in the position for synchronously setting the time displays.
- Figure 4 is a schematic plan view of the mechanism according the invention, the lever being in the watch winding position and normal running of the watch.
- FIG. 5 represents a sectional view along the line I - I of FIG. 2.
- the watch shown in Figure 1 has two displays non-concentric analogs, one of which as primary display 1 including a primary 2 hour hand and a primary 3 minute hand intended to indicate local time and the other as secondary display 4 with a secondary 5 hour hand and a secondary 6 minute hand intended to indicate the time of any time zone.
- primary display 1 including a primary 2 hour hand and a primary 3 minute hand intended to indicate local time
- secondary display 4 with a secondary 5 hour hand and a secondary 6 minute hand intended to indicate the time of any time zone.
- the watch winding crown 7 is likely to occupy three separate axial positions, a first position 7a for winding the watch, a second position 7b intended for the correction of time zone and a third position 7c for synchronous time setting of the two displays, being understood in particular that the last two functions are intended to be performed back and forth, back and forth.
- the drive mechanism according to Figure 2 comprises two switches driven in their clockwise movement by a central pinion 8 in taken with two timer mobiles 9a and 9b transferring the animation to the cogs carrying the display hands.
- the primary timer 9a drives the primary hour wheel 10 carrying the hand primary hour 2 and the primary minute gear 11 carrying the hand minutes primary 3.
- the secondary timer wheel 9b drives the hour wheel secondary 12 connected to the secondary hour hand 5 via a elastic clutch described below and the secondary minute gear 13 bearing the secondary minute hand 6 of the time zone.
- the elastic clutch which connects the secondary hour wheel 12 to the secondary hour hand 5, works in a plane and defines twelve positions stable for the secondary hour hand 5. It includes the hour wheel secondary 12 and a time zone wheel 14 carrying the hour hand secondary 5. It also has a star 16 with twelve teeth mounted on this time zone wheel 14 as well as a spring 15 mounted on the hour wheel secondary 12 so that the teeth of star 16 can pass over it spring 15, when the time zone wheel 14 is driven by the return of time zone 17, to shift the secondary hour hand 5 in steps of one hour relative to the primary hour hand 2.
- the spring 15 of the elastic clutch is a continuous spring closed on himself. On the one hand, it has two arches 15a inside it intended to cooperate with two opposite notches 16a of the star 16 secured to the spindle wheel timetable 14. It also has two slots crossed by two pins 15b separate integral with the secondary hours wheel 12, to be driven by it.
- This configuration thus allows a rotation of the time zone wheel 14 relative to the secondary hour wheel 12 using the twelve positions stable provided by the teeth of star 16, without the need for movement perpendicular to the plane of rotation, and prevents unnecessary loss of space. In performing this rotation, so it is possible to change the time in the time zone in one hour steps.
- the lever 20 brings the primary pinion 21 of the rocker 20 into engagement with the setting mobile the hour 19 to drive the central pinion 8, which allows a time setting synchronous between the two displays.
- the first position 7a of the winding crown 7 is simply used for reassembly of the watch in a conventional manner.
- the elongated brake 23 comprising a primary toothing 23a and a secondary teeth 23b at its ends are pivotally mounted. It is intended to occupy three different positions depending on the position of the scale 20 and it is controlled by the latter.
- the crown of winder 7 is in its second position 7b to change the time of the display secondary and the rocker 20 then brings the two pinions 21 and 22 in engagement with the time zone pinion 18, this brake 23 meshes with the secondary toothing 23b in the teeth of the secondary minute pinion 13 to prevent movement of the secondary minute hand 6 when the hour hand Secondary 5 of the time zone is corrected by one hour jump.
