Abstract

Bei einem Verfahren zum Trocknen und/oder Einbrennen einer auf ein metallisches Band aufgebrachten Beschichtung wird dieses kontinuierlich durch einen lediglich an zwei Stirnseiten offenen und ansonsten geschlossenen Kanal aus plattenförmigen Wandungen hindurchgeführt und während des Durchlaufs erhitzt. Hierdurch wird die Beschichtung getrocknet und/oder eingebrannt, indem in dem Band Wirbelstürme durch ein Magnetfeld induziert werden, das mittels mindestens einer Spule erzeugt wird, die koaxial zu dem Kanal ausgerichtet ist und diesen umschließt. Um in sämtlichen Bereichen des Kanals eine Mindesttemperatur an der inneren Oberfläche der Wandungen sicherzustellen und eine bedarfsweise schnelle Aufheizung der Wandungen zu ermöglichen, wird vorgeschlagen, daß der Anteil der von der Spule abgegebenen magnetischen Leistung, die von den Wandungen des Kanals aufgenommen wird und dort zu einer Erhitzung führt, mindestens 3 % beträgt. Des weiteren wird alternativ vorgeschlagen, die Wandungen des Kanals mittels einer elektrischen Widerstandsbeheizung zu erhitzen.
