Abstract

Spring (11) has its own integrated force adjuster (17) and a bearing block (18) forcibly coupled for swivel with the backrest angle setting contains an abutment lever (19). The far lever end supports a compression spring (13). A manually operated control mechanism (26) within the block (18) space is used to space the swivel axis (24) from axis (8) along its slide guide (25) in block (18), normal to the spring force. The abutment lever (19) pivots on a support lever (33) which is spaced in front of the block (18) so that the support lever (33) rests under spring load on the block whenever the backrest support is out of swivel.
