Abstract

An application element (16) has a wetting body (18) partially received in an inner tube (14) received in an outer tube. Application of pressure on the applicator produces fluid communication between the inner space of the inner and outer tubes. The inner tube is softer than the outer tube such that the bottom of the inner tube deforms upon application of pressure.

Description

The invention relates to an application device, according to the preamble of claim 1.

From US-PS 5,573,340 a container for the distribution of a liquid or powdery product is known in which a sponge is wetted with a liquid.

For the application of substances, it has long been known to store a first component in a first chamber and a further component in a second chamber and to break by pressure from outside a predetermined breaking point which separates the two components, and thereby the components to the substance to mix. Reference is made, for example, to DE-AS 2 024 402.

Application devices with application elements have also long been known, for which reference is made, for example, to DE-GM 92 189 49. Via lateral holes in an inner sleeve, a fluid connection between the interior of the inner sleeve and the interior of the outer sleeve can be generated. This solution is suitable for the cosmetics sector. When it comes to the fact that the components are generated in the interior of the inner sleeve and in the interior of the outer sleeve. This solution is suitable for the cosmetics sector. When it comes to the fact that the components in the interior of the inner sleeve and in the interior of the outer sleeve must be stored separately, this solution is less suitable.

Furthermore, from DE-OS 44 158 54 a mixing and application capsule for dental purposes known. In this solution, the components are combined by puncturing a film between the components via a pointed element.

Numerous other application devices have become known. For example, it has been proposed To keep application element immersed in a liquid and to flow by depressing the container for this liquid in the manner of an overflow another liquid to provide the substance to be applied. However, this solution requires two separate sealing systems, so that a not inconsiderable expense is required. However, a large number of sealing lines also requires a correspondingly high susceptibility and bearing instability.

Furthermore, it has been proposed in German Patent Application 199 56 705.0 to partially receive an application element with a wetting body in an inner sleeve and to receive the inner sleeve in an outer sleeve. By pressure on the application element a fluid connection between the interior and the inner sleeve and the interior of the outer sleeve is to be generated. This solution basically provides a good and easy seal of the two ingredients to provide the substance. However, the outer sleeve to provide the sealing lips must be made of a slightly elastic material, so that a liquid-tight concern of the sealing lip between the inner sleeve and outer sleeve is ensured. On the other hand, it is important that the substance absorbed in the interior of the outer sleeve can be safely stored for a long time. To achieve this, a fairly large wall thickness is provided.

In some cases, however, solvents such as acetone, ethyl alcohol, etc. are used for the constituents of the substance. Such solvents have a very high vapor pressure and also diffuse through the outer sleeve, if it has a fairly large wall thickness.

Although it has become known per se to counteract a high vapor pressure by the application of additional layers, such as a metallic coating. Problem here is that two-layer materials in their Processing and disposal are more problematic and no complete vapor barrier is possible. Although the metallic coating could also be applied internally. But then it extends beyond the local sealing lips, so that the sealing effect is reduced. In addition, the provision of a metallic coating makes the production of the application device more expensive, whereby the production costs are particularly important when implementing a single-can unit.

Therefore, the invention has for its object to provide an inexpensive to produce application device for applying a substance according to the preamble of claim 1, which is also suitable for storage periods of more than a year and also for substances with high vapor pressure.

Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch Anspruch 1 gelöst. Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungern ergeben sich aus den Unteransprüchen. This object is achieved by claim 1. Advantageous developments emerge from the subclaims.

According to the invention, it is particularly favorable that the realization of the inner sleeve made of a softer material makes it possible to ensure the sealing function by the inner sleeve itself and to realize the outer sleeve of a brittle and high-density material. This solution is inexpensive, because the wall thickness of the outer sleeve can be reduced and still the storage stability can be provided due to the improved vapor pressure tightness.

The inventively desired softness and deformability of the inner sleeve can be provided both material-specific and by the design of the inner sleeve. If a deformation element exerts a unilaterally acting radial force on the bottom of the inner sleeve or a region near the bottom of the inner sleeve, the inner sleeve collapses there at least partially, so that the seal between the inner sleeve and Outer sleeve is lost in the desired manner.

According to the invention it is preferred if the sealing lip extends annularly in the ground-level region on the inner sleeve to the outside. The wall of the outer sleeve can thus be made completely smooth inside up to the deformation element.

According to the invention, it is particularly favorable if the bottom of the inner sleeve is made quite thin. Due to the one-sided and massive wedge, which can form the deformation element, the inner sleeve is deformed in a correspondingly thin bottom, even if the material properties of inner sleeve and outer sleeve differ only slightly. In this respect, the Formunlierung softer also in the sense of "compliant" to understand, and if necessary, the inner sleeve of a fairly hard material, provided that the desired sealing function is ensured.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the application device according to the invention, the deformation element or the deformation body is mounted laterally on the inner wall of the outer sleeve and extends to the bottom of the inner sleeve towards increasing depth in the radial direction tapered. The radial depth of the deformation element increases towards the bottom of the outer sleeve towards continuously and is adjacent to the inner sleeve initially almost zero. As a result, the insertion resistance of the inner sleeve is quite low, and the deformation takes place gradually, while the inner sleeve is inserted.

The deformation element can either be crowned on its upper side or have a cutting edge. In the design with the cutting edge, it is also possible to exploit the hard material properties of the outer sleeve so that the bottom of the inner sleeve or in particular one or more sealing rings are cut to size. At this Solution are then openings in the inner sleeve basically dispensable, it being understood that any suitable deformation elements can be used to establish a fluid connection between the interior of the inner sleeve and the interior of the outer sleeve.

It is also possible to form the sealing ring as a guided in a groove on the inner sleeve O-ring. In this solution, then the cutting edge can cut the O-ring. It contracts and releases an area in which the fluid can flow through openings in the interior of the inner sleeve.

It is understood that the groove should then be designed so that it does not hinder the cutting action of the cutting edge, but rather facilitates.

Even if the realization of an asymmetric deformation element is preferred, it is also readily possible to provide two mutually opposite deformation bodies, which squeeze the inner sleeve and thus produce the gap as an overflow channel between the interior of the inner sleeve and the interior of the outer sleeve. It is readily possible to design the deformation body in any suitable manner, preferably immediately adjacent to it extends an inner corner, which allows an overflow at the bottom of the inner sleeve along.

The application element has a wetting body which, if necessary, is already provided in advance with a reaction substance, or is provided with a reaction substance before application. The wetting body may be formed in any suitable manner, for example as a brush or as a foam body, which is applied to a style of the application element.

It is also possible to separate the application element itself provide and allow a different combination of ingredients for the provision of the substance, the fact is exploitable that the application device seals even without application element.

The inner sleeve 14 has adjacent the bottom 26 two fairly large openings 28 and 30 extending laterally. These openings can be easily and quickly flowed through by the fluid 20 when the inner sleeve 14 is pressed in.

To produce a fluid connection between the interior of the inner sleeve 14 and the interior of the outer sleeve 12 is used according to the invention a deformation element 34. The deformation element 34 is formed in the illustrated embodiment as a wedge and has the apparent from Fig. 5 shape. The wedge extends from the bottom 26 of the inner sleeve 14 in the state shown in FIG. 1, starting to the bottom 36 of the outer sleeve 12th

While it is apparent from Fig. 2, in which way the application element 16 with the wetting body 18 in the inner sleeve is inserted, Fig. 3 shows the overflow of the fluid 20 in the inner sleeve 14 into it. By pressure in the direction of the wedge 36 according to FIG. 3 on the application element 16, the inner sleeve 14 is at the same time pressed. For this purpose, the inner sleeve has a stop shoulder 56 which extends with a diameter which is slightly smaller than the diameter of a thickening 58 of the application element 16. The application of pressure is possible in this way on the inner shell 14 without a tip 54 must touch the ground 26.

From FIG. 4 it can be seen that the wetting body 18 is intensively wetted by the substance 20 and the substance 20 can be applied via the application element 16. In this state, the application device 10 forms a kind of cup for the application of the substance, wherein a repeated immersion of the wetting body 18 is readily possible.

From Fig. 5 it can be seen in which way the deformation element 34 may be formed. In the illustrated embodiment, it is substantially wedge-shaped with two tips 35 and 37, which allow a low sliding resistance when sliding the bottom 26 on the deformation element 34. It can be seen that inside corners 39 and 41 are provided laterally next to the deformation element, which allow easy passage of the substance into the interior of the inner sleeve 14 inside.

From Fig. 6, a further embodiment of the application device according to the invention can be seen. In this embodiment, it can be seen that the inner sleeve 14 has a closing ring 38, on which a projection 40 extends to the outside. There, a sealing lip is formed, which ensures a seal when the application element 16 is inserted.

The application element 16 has a handle 42. The handle joins a thickening 58, to which the shaft 44 connects. In this embodiment, the wetting body is formed as a micro-brush 50. The micro-brush 50 is formed in the illustrated embodiment by a flock, so that numerous confused brush hairs 52 extend to the outside.

The micro-brush 50 terminates in a rather blunt point 54. This also allows the power transmission to the bottom 26 of the narrow sleeve 14 and thus the insertion of the inner sleeve 14 for activating the application device when the abutment shoulder 56 is not provided.

If necessary, a reaction substance may preferably be applied to the micro-brush 50 as salt deposited there. In this embodiment, a taper 60 or notch is provided below the abutment shoulder 56, which provides the ability to bend the shaft 44 relative to the handle 42. In this configuration of the application element, a plastic deformation is possible. Again, it is possible to deform the bottom 26 via the deformation element 34 to initiate wetting of the micropinsel 50 with the substance 20.
