Claims (15)

  1. String-transfer apparatus for horizontal drilling machines for trenchless underground drilling, having a magazine (11) and a pivotable gripper (31), the gripper (31) being so arranged that the circular path of the gripper intersects both the transfer position at the magazine (11) and the drilling axis (B), characterised in that when it pivots into the transfer position the gripper (31) unlocks a locking member.
  2.   3. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the locking member is in the form of a flap-action member (100) which is held in its locking position in the region of the transfer position at the magazine (11) by resilient force and is moved out of the locking position by an entraining member (150) on the gripper (31) when the gripper (31) pivots into the transfer position.
  4. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the magazine (11) is arranged next to the drilling axis (B) and above the horizontal plane in which the latter lies.
  5. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the magazine (11) is displaceable horizontally, thus enabling the string compartments to be moved to the transfer position.
  6. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the gripper (31) is arranged to be able to be pivoted out below the magazine on the opposite side of the magazine (11) from the drilling axis(B) to allow a string section (6) to be inserted in by hand.
  7. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the gripper (31) has a claw (32) which is preloaded to its "closed" position by a compression or tension member.
  8. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the gripper (31) has an axially displaceable locking member (33) whose axial position is controlled by a cam-action track (38).
  9. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that, by its foot (37), the locking member (33) is arranged in a guide (36).
  10. Apparatus according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that, when the gripper (31) pivots below the magazine (11), the claw (32) is automatically moved over to its "open" position.
