Abstract
Description
A- 5 637 077).The present invention relates to ankle protection according to the preamble of claim 1 (US-A-5 637 077).
Ankle protection is known from EP 0 682 960 A1, which consists of an elastic sock a textile material which has three openings, a first opening for the leg area of the foot is provided, with a second opening for the Toe area of the foot is provided and a third opening for the Heel area of the foot is provided. On the inside of the ankle is the elastic sock attached a nutshell-shaped protective element, the cavity is padded with foam balls. To hold the foam beads in the cavity of the protective element is between the foot and the protective element Mesh made of a textile material available. The disadvantage of this embodiment is that that only the ankle directly, but not the area around it, like ligaments and Ankle are protected. Furthermore, it can be the case with obliquely impinging impacts Injuries occur when the peripheral areas are made of a rigid material existing protective element act directly on the foot.
The invention has for its object to provide ankle protection, which easy handling a high degree of security against bumps and kicks offers in the ankle area.
This object is achieved by the features specified in claim 1.
The ankle protection according to the invention consists of a band-shaped pack, which in Longitudinal cross section is essentially U - shaped and the foot circumference in Knuckle area is substantially overlapping. To close the A closure device is provided in the open section of the U-shaped package. This design makes it particularly easy to put on the ankle protection guaranteed. The pack consists of an inner part facing the foot and one outer part pointing away from the foot, made of a durable Clothing material exist and firmly together at their outer peripheral edges are connected. There is a foam pad between the inner part and the outer part arranged. In the side foot area of the outward-pointing ankle between the Outer part and the foam pad is a protective element made of a semi-rigid Material formed with elastic properties, the protective element being smaller than the foam pad is. This arrangement ensures that part of the kinetic energy of the impacts or kicks is absorbed by the protective element. The impact load that is applied with a small area is thus reduced to one comparatively large area transferred and further through the foam pad attenuated. Thus, the entire side foot area at ankle height with bands and Ankle effectively protected.
