Claims (6)

  1. A method of exchanging a printing cylinder sleeve (26) in a printing machine having a central cylinder (14) and a plurality of ink units (16, 18) adapted to be adjusted against the central cylinder, and comprising each a plate cylinder (20) having a printing cylinder sleeve (26) mounted on a mandrel (24), wherein the plate cylinder (20) is moved away from the central cylinder (14) and the printing cylinder sleeve (26) is axially withdrawn from the mandrel (24) after a bearing (30) has been detached, the exchange of the printing cylinder sleeve (26) being performed while the printing machine is running, characterized in that the plate cylinder (20) is moved away from the central cylinder (14) to such an extent that a space formed between the plate cylinder (20) and the rotating central cylinder (14) becomes large enough for safely gripping the printing cylinder sleeve (26), and after the plate cylinder (20) has been moved away from the central cylinder (14), a safeguard (40) is brought into a position in which it shields a part of an end face and of the peripheral surface of the central cylinder (14) facing the plate cylinder (20).
