Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to a timepiece powered by a source of electrical energy formed by a battery and comprising in particular connection means allowing electrical access to electrical and / or electronic components housed inside this room watchmaking.
- the document CH 664 868 in the name of EM Microelectronic-Marin SA describes for example a device for programming a non-volatile memory arranged inside from the box of a timepiece. According to this document, this programming is carried out via the connection flanges of the battery advantageously arranged inside a battery flap formed by a housing arranged at inside the box, housing which is commonly closed by a mechanism closure with removable cover.
- This solution has the advantage of requiring practically no disassembly of the timepiece in order to access the components, apart from the disassembly of the removable cover of the battery door.
- This solution is also advantageous in that the sealing of the case of the timepiece is not compromised, this tightness being normally guaranteed as soon as the closure is replaced.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a timepiece provided with means allowing easy electrical access to the components electrical or electronic parts of the timepiece, these means of access do not not compromising in particular the watertightness of the timepiece.
- Another object of the present invention is to propose a timepiece comprising such means of electrical access which does not require disassembly substantial part, nor complicated handling for the operator.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a part watchmaking that does not require removal of the battery in order to allow access electrical or electronic components of the timepiece.
- the present invention thus relates to a timepiece whose Features are set out in claim 1.
- the present invention also relates to a electronic module intended to be mounted in an electronic device or electromechanical, the characteristics of which are set out in claim 8.
- the solution recommended by the present invention thus allows access fast and easy electrical connection to the electrical and / or electronic components of the room watchmaking due to the fact that the connection means allowing access electrically, these components open out inside the battery compartment, the access being simply released after removal of the removable cover of the hatch battery.
- the watertightness of the timepiece is thus not compromised by the arrangement of the access means, this sealing being ensured by the mechanism closing the battery door.
- the solution according to the invention advantageously makes it possible to carry out a test or a adjustment of the components of the timepiece at a final stage of manufacture of the part or during a subsequent check by an after-sales service for example. Tests components as well as further adjustments to the functions of the timepiece can thus be performed without the need to substantially disassemble the latter.
- the solution according to the invention also advantageously makes it possible to introduce, extract or exchange data with the timepiece, for example to program certain functions of the timepiece.
- the access means comprise a plurality of connection terminals arranged on the periphery of the battery, access to components electrical and / or electronic does not require removal of the battery. It is thus not necessary to provide the timepiece with retention means, such as a buffer capacity, to keep volatile data during the implementation of the battery.
- FIG. 1 a part is described of clock powered by battery comprising connection means, according to the present invention, allowing electrical access to components electrical and / or electronic housed inside the room.
- This timepiece generally indicated by the reference numeral 1, includes in particular a box 2 formed of a middle part 21 and a bottom 22 made in one piece, a movement (not shown) housed inside the box 2 and comprising in particular a module electronics 3 (FIG. 2) formed on a printed circuit 30, a dial 4, and a crystal 5.
- FIG. 2 also shows an additional element of the movement, indicated by the reference numeral 25.
- This element 25 is in particular an upper plate of the movement which, as we can see here, forms a support against which the electronic module 3 is supported.
- This element 25 is in particular an upper plate of the movement which, as we can see here, forms a support against which the electronic module 3 is supported.
- the box 2 and the glass 5 are for example made of a plastic material such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene known by the acronym ABS and as a resin transparent acrylic such as PMMA, respectively. Ice 5 is for example assembled on the box 2 by a conventional welding technique so that the box 2 and the glass 5 form a substantially non-removable and waterproof structure, at least in a non-destructive way.
- the interested reader can refer to document EP 0 101 663, in the name of the Applicant, for a detailed description of a technique of heat-sealing an ice cream on a watch case.
- Figure 1 shows a plan view of a housing 6 formed in the box 2 and forming a battery door 7 for accommodating a source of electrical energy formed by a P battery.
- the removable cover of the battery door 7 is not shown in FIG. 1.
- This removable cover, indicated by the reference numeral 8, is nevertheless illustrated in FIG. 2.
- This removable cover 8 is also made, without limitation, in plastic material. We will not dwell at length on the structure of this cover 8, the latter not being the subject of the present invention. However, we can in particular note that this removable cover 8 comprises a first annular lip 81 conformed to a flange 61 of the battery flap housing as well as a second annular lip 82 intended to come to bear on one face of the stack P to maintain the latter in the housing 6. An O-ring 85 is further arranged around the first annular lip 81 in order to ensure sealing of the battery door 7. When closing, this O-ring 85 is in particular compressed between the lip annular 81 and a substantially cylindrical wall 62 of the housing 6.
- connection flanges 91, 92 coming from respectively in contact with the positive and negative poles of the P battery are arranged in the housing 6 of the battery flap 7.
- These connection flanges 91, 92 are all two connected to supply tracks (not shown) made on the circuit printed 30 of the electronic module 3 of the timepiece.
- these connection flanges 91, 92 are for example fixed to the printed circuit 30 by rivets 95, 96, respectively.
- the timepiece 1 comprises means for connection, partly arranged in the housing 6, allowing access electrically to electrical and / or electronic components of the room clock housed in box 2.
- These electrical and / or electronic components do not are not illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, but it will be readily understood that these components may include one or more motors driving components analog display, one or more display cells, means for storage such as RAM, ROM or reprogrammable memory such as EPROM, an oscillator circuit (and its quartz), a frequency division chain, a integrated circuit of the movement, or any other electrical or electronic component likely to be housed inside the box 2.
- access to the movement components of the timepiece can by example having for object an introduction, an extraction or an exchange of data with means for memorizing the timepiece.
- a programming of memory containing the correction factor due to the division rate of the chain division producing the clock signal of the movement can for example be carried out, in the manner of what is presented in the document CH 664 868 mentioned in preamble.
- connection means include a plurality of connection terminals 10, here and not limited to the number of eleven, arranged in the housing 6 in periphery of the stack P.
- the housing 6 is in particular arranged so that the connection terminals 10 are accessible from outside the box 2, after removal removable cover 8.
- the diameter of the housing 6 of the battery door is thus diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the pile P in order to allow access at connection terminals 10.
- connection terminals 10 contact with the connection terminals 10 does not require removal of the battery from its housing 6, these connection terminals 10 can for example be contacted by a suitable contact tip like this is illustrated in the sectional view of Figure 2.
- a connector to multiple contact, conforming to the housing 6 of the battery door 7, could be used to contact all the connection terminals 10 in parallel.
- An advantage of the present invention thus also resides in the simplicity of the arrangement of the terminals connection 10.
- the movement can thus be continuously powered by the P battery, even when you want to perform a component test or adjust the functions of the movement.
- two connection terminals among the terminals of connection 10 can be contacted in order to power the movement and allow, in particular, the change of the P stack.
- Data retention means of the timepiece formed for example of a buffer capacity, are thus not a priori no longer needed to remember certain settings like time and date for example.
- the printed circuit 30 of the electronic module 3 is arranged in a plane substantially identical to the plane of the P stack. Unlike conventional structures in which the circuit printed electronic module is arranged behind the stack, the arrangement of the figure 2 thus allows a more optimal use of the space in the box 2 of the room watchmaking.
- Figure 3 shows a plan view schematic of a nonlimiting example of the electronic module 3 of the room clockwork illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. Note that the view illustrated in Figure 3 is a view of the back of the electronic module, i.e. a view of the module electronics 3 as taken from the bottom 22 of the timepiece towards of dial 4 in figure 2.
- FIG. 3 we can thus see a plurality of conductive tracks 11 made on the printed circuit 30 and respectively leading to the connection terminals 10 of the battery door 7.
- the conductive tracks 11 lead to a integrated circuit of the movement, indicated by reference 15.
- Most of the components electrical or electronic are generally functionally linked to the circuit built-in movement, so a test of the various components can typically be done through this integrated circuit.
- the electronic module 3 has an opening 36 conformed to the periphery (cylindrical part) of the stack P, and to the periphery 37 of which are arranged the connection terminals 10.
- test routines can be stored in the integrated circuit so as to perform standard tests of various components of the movement.
- connection terminals can give access to a serial port of the integrated circuit 15 through which a test number is sent to the integrated circuit 15.
- connection terminals 10 As an alternative, it is perfectly possible to envisage a logic of decoding comprising all or part of the connection terminals 10 as inputs. In view of the fact that a relatively large number of connection terminals can be made in the battery door 7, this number being limited only by constraints geometric in number, the number of coding possibilities is practically unlimited. In this idea, routines corresponding to the various possibilities of coding to layout can be preset and stored, and executed automatically by the application, on the connection terminals 10, of suitable binary signals.
- connection terminals according to the present invention offers wide application possibilities, in particular due to the high number of terminals connection 10 can be made in the battery door 7.
- the arrangement of connection terminals according to the present invention is more particularly advantageous in the sense that these terminals are all arranged in the same plane and in a small area. Contact with these terminals can thus be made easily from outside the box 2. The tightness of the arrangement is also perfectly ensured by the closing mechanism of the battery door.
