Abstract

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve (10) has a gas passage with a fastening flange (12) accommodating a poppet valve (70) which may be lifted up off its seat by a cam arrangement (20,22). An electric motor (16) has a small pinion driving a large gearwheel (18) driving the cam via a freewheel arrangement. The mechanism includes a flywheel (40) with a projection (42). A first spring (46) is connected to an intermediate disk (30). A second spring (26) provides force to close the valve.
