Definitions
- the invention relates to a nursing shell.
- These shells are generally made of a material relatively rigid plastic such as polyethylene (so as not to be too deform and have a certain hold), generally transparent or translucent to be able to see the milk through, and of a substantially conical shape to follow the shape of the breast.
- US-A-4-270,538 MURPHY
- MURPHY MURPHY
- a part internal is in contact with the breast and has a central passage opening nipple, and an external part is mounted (generally clipping) watertight on the first and is spaced therefrom to collect the milk is flowing.
- the invention therefore proposes to resolve a part of fewer of these problems using a simple to implement, safe solution, inexpensive and easy to use.
- the invention relates to a nursing shell comprising an external part and an internal part intended to be placed on a breast, the internal part having a central opening for the passage of the breast nipple and being removably attached to the outer portion so to define a hollow space between them to be able to collect milk, characterized in that the internal part is made of a more flexible material than the external part.
- the internal part flexible will preferably be made of a thermoplastic material based on silicone.
- this material could be a silicone elastomer such than Ethylene Butylene Styrene Silicone (SEBS).
- SEBS Ethylene Butylene Styrene Silicone
- This material is easily moldable and therefore adapts very well to the female anatomy by giving it a natural appearance to the chest due to the shapely shape of the internal part of the shell. It also has health and safety features suitable in such a way that it can be brought into contact with formula milk without no risk of contamination of it. It is also anti-allergic for a safe contact with the mother's skin.
- the shell will present ways breast massage.
- the massage means could be constituted by raised asperities raised from the external surface of the part flexible internal.
- these asperities will be made in one piece with the flexible internal part and will then be arranged radially around its central orifice.
- either parts will present at least one anti-leakage means to isolate a hollow area from the space between the two parts of the shell.
- these anti-leakage means may be constituted by two partitions erected from an internal surface of the rigid part and coming into tight contact with an internal surface of the flexible part of which they follow the shape, these two partitions extending between the periphery of the external part and the central orifice of the flexible part so as to define said isolated hollow area.
- the shell In order to protect the areola and the nipple from humidity, the shell will present means of ventilation.
- these means of ventilation could be constituted by several ventilation openings passing through the rigid external part of so as to communicate with the internal space, these orifices being arranged close from the periphery of the external part, opposite the leak-proof partitions.
- the shell will further include sealed connection means between its two parts.
- these sealed connection means may be constituted by a radial protuberance arranged on a peripheral skirt of the rigid external part cooperating with a groove of complementary shape arranged in a folded lip of the flexible internal part.
- this breast shell with flexible internal part helps to resolve problems with flat or inverted nipples by exercising light pressure on the areola at the base of the nipple. This natural pressure encourages the nipple to lengthen little by little, which will make the latch much easier for the baby.
- FIG 1 we can see a breast shell referenced 10 as a whole.
- This shell 10 has two parts 20 and 30 removably assembled with each other so as to define, once assembled (see Figure 2), an internal space 40.
- the external part 20 is made of rigid plastic material and preferably translucent or transparent such as polyethylene or polypropylene. It is conical in shape and has ventilation holes 21 communicating, once the two parts are assembled, with the internal space 40.
- the internal part 30 is also substantially shaped conical with a folded peripheral lip 32 intended for fixing to the rigid part 20.
- This flexible part 30 has a central orifice 31 allowing the passage of the nipple of a breast in order to recover milk flowing from natural way.
- the internal part 30 is made of a more flexible material that the external part 20, preferably made of silicone-based thermoplastic, for example a silicone elastomer such as SEBS (Ethylene Silicone Butylene Styrene).
- SEBS Ethylene Silicone Butylene Styrene
- This flexible part 30 is intended to be placed in a bra, in contact with the mother's breast (not shown). So she is designed to match the shape of the breasts as well as possible natural, and it is very soft to the touch. Its material of constitution (SEBS) is also anti-allergic and respects the conditions of hygiene and safety specific to this type of childcare equipment so that the material does not interfere with the quality of milk stored in internal space 40.
- SEBS material of constitution
- This flexible part 30 has, on an external face 30b (that in contact with the breast), asperities 34 which act as massaging organs for the breast to better stimulate the mammary gland for milk production and avoid bottlenecks. These asperities 34, made of material with the flexible part 30, are distributed around the central orifice 31 as can see it in figure 5.
- the external part rigid 20 also has partitions 24 erected from a surface internal 20a and extending between the periphery 23 of the rigid part 20 and the orifice central 31 of the flexible part 30.
- partitions 24 take sealingly pressing against the internal surface 30a of the flexible part 30 of so as to delimit, between them, a hollow zone 45 isolated from the rest of the space internal 40. This is where the milk can flow overnight or the day, and be stored there momentarily. Partitions can form a opening quarter of approximately 90 °.
- the ventilation holes 21 are for example 4 in number and arranged close to the periphery 23 of the rigid external part 20, opposite partitions 24. They are therefore on an arc and offset each by 10 °. They improve chest ventilation for moisture protection (areola and nipple in particular).
- partitions 24 must be placed in the lower part and the ventilation holes 22 in the upper part so that the shell 10 works in the best conditions.
- These partitions 24 serve anti-leakage (or anti-sloshing) device when the hollow zone 45 is filled with milk, which prevents the breast from getting wet.
- connection between the two parts contributes also to the tightness of the shell vis-à-vis the outside (avoid leaks accidental milk on clothing) and chest.
- the periphery 20c of the rigid external part 20 has a radial protuberance 26 which comes force their way into an internal groove 36 of complementary shape made in the folded-down lip 32 of the internal part 30. This roughness thus plays the role an annular seal.
- the removable connection thus described also facilitates disengagement of the two parts of the shell in order to wash them or recover the milk contained in the internal space. Indeed, unlike the shells of the prior art which were made with two rigid plastic parts, the fact of using a flexible material provided with a fixing lip allows a flexible opening and without shaking, avoiding untimely splashing of milk.
- the distribution and the shape of the asperities can vary. They can be more or less in relief and / or with a more or less less dense depending on their position relative to the areola.
- the shape and location of the partitions can vary. They can be bent in some places to further reduce the sloshing of milk, for example being perfectly aligned so as to develop a hollow area substantially equal to half of the internal space.
