Abstract

A device (1) for performing jumps by successive leaps, includes a tubular body (2) which is provided at one of its ends, referred to as the "lower" end, with footrest struts (3, 4); a handlebar (8) equipped with grips (81, 82) which is integral with the other end, referred to as the "upper" end, of the body; an impact shaft (5) is adapted to slide inside the body (2) and at least part of which is capable of being deployed in the extension of the lower end of the body; and elements (14) for returning the shaft (5) elastically to an extreme deployed position. The device includes elements (9) for braking the impact shaft (5) in relation to the body (2) and elements (83, 84), which are disposed on the handlebar (8), for manually controlling the braking elements(9).

Claims (15)

  1. Device (1) for performing jumps by successive leaps which comprises:
    a tubular body (2) which is provided at one of its ends, which is referred to as the "lower" end, with footrest struts (3, 4),
    a handlebar (8) equipped with grips (81, 82) which is integral with the other end, which is referred to as the "upper" end, of the body,
    an impact shaft (5) which is adapted to slide inside the body (2) and at least part of which is capable of being deployed in the extension of the lower end of the said body, and
    means (14) for returning the shaft (5) elastically to an extreme deployed position,
    characterised in that it comprises:
    means (9) for braking the impact shaft (5) in relation to the body (2) and
    means (83, 84), which are disposed on the handlebar (8), for manually controlling the braking means (9).
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the footrest struts are produced in a single, machined piece (12) provided with an axial passage (121) which is adapted to receive the impact shaft (5) by sliding, the said machined piece (12) being screwed to the lower end of the tubular body (2).
  3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the handlebar (8) is connected to the upper end of the body (2) via a stem (7).
  4. Device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the elastic returning means comprise a helicoidal spring (14).
  5. Device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the means for manually controlling the braking means (9) are constituted by levers (83, 84) which are mounted on the handlebar (8) and adapted to actuate cables (85, 86) fixed to the said braking means.
  6. Device according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the braking means (9) comprise at least one friction surface (92) which is adapted to rest radially against the shaft (5).
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterised in that the shaft (5) is hollow and the friction surface (92) rubs on the inside of the said shaft.
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the friction surface is a cylindrical ring (92) made of elastomer.
  9. Device according to claim 8, characterised in that the braking means comprise a bush (91) which is adapted to deform the cylindrical ring (92) radially.
  10. Device according to claim 9, characterised in that the bush (91) has, in its lower part, feet (911) which each have an inclined face (912) and are disposed in a concentric manner and around which the cylindrical ring (92) is force-fitted.
  11. Device according to claim 10, characterised in that a needle (93) having a conical head (932) is inserted between the feet (911), thereby coming into contact with each inclined face (912), the manual control means (83, 84) being adapted to displace the said needle axially with a view to causing the said feet to move apart radially.
  12. Device according to claim 11, characterised in that it has means (95) for returning the needle (93) elastically.
  13. Device according to one of claims 5 to 12, characterised in that it comprises a sleeve (6) which is screwed to the upper end of the tubular body (2) and extends longitudinally inside the latter in such a way as to accommodate the cables fixed to the braking means (9).
  14. Device according to claim 13, characterised in that the braking means (9) are fixed to the lower end of the sleeve (6).
  15. Device according to one of claims 1 to 14, characterised in that it comprises a ball-socket (12) which is adapted to guide the shaft along the axis of the body when it slides inside the latter.
