Abstract

This invention relates to a hanger for trousers and the like, which preferably is intended to be mounted on the inside of a cupboard door, the hanger comprising a first means, which is intended to cooperate with a plurality of rods, the one end portions of which being pivotally suspended in the mentioned means, and on each of which an object, for instance trousers, can be suspended, and the hanger having a second means, which is intended to be fastened at a distance from the first means, and which is designed in that way that it can cooperate with the second end portions of the rods for holding these ones in a locked position. According to the invention the first means (2) is designed in that way that it can be detached from the cupboard door, be turned about 180 DEG and then be fastened again on the cupboard door, which means that the hanger can be used for both left-wing-suspended and right wing-suspended doors.

Description

This invention relates to a hanger for trousers and the like, which preferably is intended to be mounted on the inside of a cupboard door, the hanger comprising a first means which is intended to co-operate with a plurality of rods, the one end portions of which being pivotally suspended in the mentioned means, and on each of which an object, for instance trousers, can be suspended, and the hanger having a second means which is intended to be fastened at a distance from the first means, and which is designed in that way that it can co-operate with the second end portions of the rods for holding these ones in a locked position.
Hangers are generally previously known as disclosed by e.g. US-A-2 926 824 according to the preamble of claim 1, it preferably being intended to be mounted on the inside of a cupboard door. The disadvantage of some of the known hangers is that it is not adapted for both a left wing-suspended and a right wing-suspended cupboard door, but in order to cover both these needs, it is necessary to have two types of hangers, a first type for a left wing-suspended door and a second type of hanger, which is modified in relation to the first one, for a right wing-suspended door.
This invention intends to eliminate this problem and accordingly to provide a new type of hanger, which is designed in that way that it can be used for both left wing-suspended and right wing-suspended cupboard doors. This has been made possible by a hanger of the kind mentioned by way of introduction which has the features mentioned in the claims.
A preferred embodiment of the invention shall be described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, where Figure 1 shows the new hanger fastened on a left wing-suspended door and Figure 2 shows a part of the hanger, fastened on a right wing-suspended door.
Referring to figure 1 is shown there the new hanger 1. This one comprises a first means 2, which co-operates with a plurality of rods 3, the rear end portions 4 of which being pivotally suspended in the mentioned means. Each one of these rods 3 has an essentially horisontal main part 5. The rear portion of the rods 3 are bent downwards, so that the rear end portion 4 has an essentially vertical extension.
The mentioned, first means 2 has a base portion 6, which extends vertically and which is intended to be fastened on for instance a cupboard door 7. This base portion 6 passes over at its bottom to a sidewise-positioned portion 8, which is provided with two essentially uniform flanges 9, 10, which are positioned at a vertical distance form each other, and which project essentially perpendicularly from the cupboard door. The flanges are designed in that way that a line drawn through their respective outer edge portion 11, 12 forms a pointed angle with the cupboard door. According to this embodiment the hanger 1 has five rods 3, preferably of different length. In this connection the rear end portion 4 of each rod 3 extends through the two flanges 9, 10 via a hole 13 a-e and 14 a-e, respectively, the group of holes 14 a-e being essentially straight under the group of holes 13 a-e. The holes of each group are at essentially the same distance from each other and at essentially the same distance from the mentioned edge portion 11, 12 of respective flange 9, 10. This means that there is a horisontal distance, which is essentially identical, between the different rods at the rear portions of these ones.
The second means 15 has an elongated base portion 16, the upper portion 17 of which being fastened to the cupboard door 7, and this base portion at its bottom passes over to a portion 18, projecting out from the cupboard door, the upper side of the base portion 16 having in this case five recesses 19 a-e. The distance between these recesses is essentially the same as the distance between two adjacent holes 13 a-e and 14 a-e, respectively, seen in a direction which is essentially perpendicular to the cupboard door. In these recesses 19 a-e, the front end portions 20 of the rods are intended to be positioned when the rods 3 with objects, for instance trousers, suspended on them, have taken a rest position inside of the cupboard, the rods 3 being locked in this position.
The fact that the above-mentioned distances between respective recesses 19 a-e and respective holes 13 a-e and 14 a-e makes possible that the distance between two adjacent rods remain essentially the same along the extension of the rod.
In figure 2 is shown the new hanger mounted on a right wing-suspended door. As is apparent from the drawings, the front portions of the rods in the two cases shall be directed outwards, i.e. from the hinch portion of the cupboard door towards the outer edge portion of the door, the first means of the hanger in the two cases being positioned closest to the hinch portion of the cupboard door.
The only thing that accordingly needs to be done is that the first means of the hanger 1 is turned around approximately 180° from the position it has in figure 1 and is fastened on the inside of the cupboard door. Thereafter the rods from above are put into the first means 2, the rods 3 first going through the holes 14 a-e and then through the holes 13 a-e. Finally, the second means is fastened on a suitable place on the inside of the cupboard door for reception of the front end portions of the rod 3.
The invention is of course not limited to this shown and described embodiment but can be modified within the scoop of the following claims. Thus, the first-mentioned means 2 could for instance be modified essentially in relation to that design it has in the drawing, but yet maintain its function.

Claims (3)

  1. Hanger for trousers and the like, which preferably is intended to be mounted on the inside of a cupboard door, the hanger comprising a first means (2), which is intended to co-operate with a plurality of rods (3), the one end portions of which being pivotally suspended in the mentioned means, and on each of which an object, for instance trousers, can be suspended, and the hanger having a second means (15), which is intended to be fastened at a distance from the first means, and which is designed in that way that it can co-operate with the second end portions (4) of the rods for holding these ones in a locked position, characterized by the following features:
    Each of the rods (3) has an elongated main part (5), the one end portion (4) of which has an extension with a direction which is essentially perpendicular to the direction of the main part (5) of the rod (3);
    The first means (2) has a base portion (6), which is provided with two flanges (9, 10), positioned at a distance from each other, seen in the vertical direction, and these flanges project out form the mentioned base portion in a direction which is essentially perpendicular to the plane of the base portion (2);
