Abstract

A process for efficiently producing highly pure tetrafluorobenzenemethanols, tetrafluorobenzenecarbaldehyde dialkyl acetals and tetrafluorobenzenecarbaldehydes, which are useful as, for example, intermediates in the production of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters having bactericidal effects, via a series of reactions starting with tetrafluorocyanobenzenes; and novel tetrafluorobenzenecarbaldehyde dimethyl acetal.
